Movie Review 2 The movies Conspiracy and Downfall show the views of World War 2 through the perspectives of the German high command and those near the top of the German hierarchy. The movie Conspiracy tells the true yet horrific story of the Wannsee Conference held on the 20th of January 1942, where SS Chief of Security Reinhard Heydrich along with other German high command devised the Nazi Final Solution. The movie Downfall tells the story through the perspective of Traudl Junge, the final secretary for Adolf Hitler, as Hitler spends his final days in his Berlin bunker at the end of World War 2, where he will commit suicide with his newly wedded wife Eva Braun. The two movies share the similar themes of evils by humanity, optimism, and patriotism. The historical accuracies of the two movies are for the most part correct, and have very little factual errors that deal with the movies usage of material that is fictional rather than fact.
The movies Conspiracy and Downfall share similar themes that recapture how the German high command pressed the war further, and allowed for the audience to see how the German death machine actually worked from the top

In Conspiracy we can see patriotism to the fatherland with the conference itself and, and every time the attendees of the conference pound the table with their fists. The conference shows patriotism by the attendees’ devotion to the fatherland’s evil plans. The fist pounding is present every time something good is said in favor of the fatherland. In Downfall we can see patriotism to Germany and Hitler when Magda Goebbels and many others including Traudl Junge decide to stay behind with Adolf Hitler in the Berlin bunker to support the cause of National Socialism. We can also see devotion to Germany when Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler disobeys Hitler’s orders and tries to save Germany before its utter destruction by the
Working sort of opposite to patriotism is emulation. Emulation works by giving the audience a role model that they idolize, someone containing vast quantities of ethos in their eyes. This is the most positive of the three emotions intended to get the audience up. Inciting anger

There are many beliefs on the concept of fate. Some philosophers believe everything is destined to happen, and others express the contradictory: that everything happens by random, and people cause everything that happens. In The Assault, Harry Mulisch uses symbolism, and the circular structure of symbols to show how Anton Steenwijk is confronted with the idea that there is no fate, and that his life was changed because of the actions of human beings.
Prior to the Nazi takeover of Germany, the nation had been suffering deeply. An economic depression, large-scale unemployment, and the shame of losing World War I had put Germany in a dark place. The Nazi’s were incredibly aware of this, and their propaganda at the time reflected a need to reunite the German people. Propaganda appealed to national pride, and putting ones country before themselves. Of course, a strong united people needed a leader that was just as strong, and the “myth of Hitler” would create that leader. Slogans like “One People, one Fuhrer, one Reich!” promoted national unity, and a Wochenspruch from February 1938 states, “The greatest of all sacrifices is to give one’s life to preserve the existence of the community.” Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will comes from this time period and helps form the mythological image of Hitler. Propaganda also focused on the good the Nazi party was doing. It discussed how well the Nazi welfare system was working, newsreels showed happy German people enjoying the benefits of the Nazi regime.
He had a group of leaders, the SS, who were Nazis that willingly took any task given, including the mass murder of millions of Jews due to his belief that they were enemies to Germany. German citizens were talked into participating or believing in the most extreme of things, like violent pogroms, deportations, attacks, and executions. Through the novel’s perspicacity of the Third Reich, readers can see how Hitler’s reign was a controversial time period summed up by courage, extremity, and most important of all, loyalty. The main purpose of the book was to emphasize how far fear of Hitler’s power, motivation to create a powerful Germany, and loyalty to the cause took Germany during the Third Reich. During the Third Reich, Germany was able to successfully conquer all of Eastern Europe and many parts of Western Europe, mainly by incentive.
World War Two was the most devastating conflict in the history of humanity. It crippled many nations and caused millions of people to die. One of the major causes of this disastrous war was the Treaty of Versailles which ended the First World War. This treaty was destructive towards the Germans. Germany had to pay large amounts of reparations to the Allied nations at the end of World War One resulting in a Great Depression in Germany. Additionally, the Treaty of Versailles’ war guilt clause forced Germans to admit full responsibility for starting the war. Furthermore, to gain the support of the German populace, Adolf Hitler adopted an effective propaganda campaign. Adolf Hitler employed a successful propaganda campaign to gain the support of the German people combined with the Treaty of Versailles harsh economic and political sanctions ignited World War Two.
...ch Security Main Office, to draw up a complete plan for the “final solution of the Jewish question.” Heydrich then hosted a secret conference on January 20, 1942 to coordinate the plan. It was held in Berlin at a Wannsee villa used by the Reich Security Main Office as a guest house and conference center. The fifteen participants, high-ranking representatives of the SS, the NSDAP, and the government, approved a program of annihilation that was actually already well under way.13 The protocol was drawn up by Adolf Eichmann at the behest and under the control of his boss, Reinhard Heydrich, who instructed Eichmann to “cook” the protocol to reflect what he wanted to preserve as a record of the meeting. It was the testimony of Eichmann at his trial that exposed the truth in regards to the protocol of how it was written and the discussion held at the Wannsee meeting.
The setting is important to the overall novel studied because it helps highlight major themes in the novel, it further characterizes the motivations of the characters, and helps explain the overall message of the novel. In 1984 by George Orwell, the overall setting of the novel is in London, which is called Airship 1 in Oceania.
They both happened by one man “Adolf Hitler” one event after the other. That is why I think Hitler was and is one if the major impacts in the 20th century. A lot of people suffer, tortured, and were killed in these events Jews were the ones that were especially killed in these event. “If you do not like a rule… Just follow it… Reach on the top… And change the rule…” This word were said by Adolf Hitler, that is how he became a leader he did not like some things were so he got to the top and changed it, probably not for good but they were his beliefs. In the end all this just comes to show that Hitler was a major impact in the 20 century, he left a big mark in this era an unforgettable time period especially for the decedents of the Jews. One can only imagine what the ancestors of these Jews had to endure all in the cause of one man who they so claim to call a killing machine. Adolf Hitler is foresaid to be one of the most ruthless people of the 20th century, and in short his mission was to take out anyone who is different from him in anyway just because he has the power to do so and anything or anyone he dislikes gets eliminated. Just one man responsible for one of the greatest acts committed on this planet that sure does sound like a viscous killer. Adolf Hitler believed that “those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.” That is how he viewed everything, for him in order to gain power you have to concur and the weak should perish and the strong should prevail. In this case I would be the Germans who shall prevail and prosper according to Adolf Hitler. “Hitler killed six million Jews. It is the greatest crime of our time. But the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher’s knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliff. As it is, they succumbed anyway in their millions.” This was quoted by

The casting in this film played a huge part in the success of this film all thanks to Joseph Goebbels who had to pay out the money and made sure that the citizens of Germany knew that the actors were not really Jewish but had true German blood pumping through their veins. Many people were forced to see it and it was toured all across the front line to show to the troops and being showed in multiple place at once so he made sure people knew about it and went to go see it. Publicity also played a huge role in determining the success of this film. This movie will always be used to show how the film industry can implant ideas in your head and get you to believe what they want you to without you even really ever knowing what went on.
Good vs Evil, Reputation and Injustice, as well as fear and hysteria are all key themes in Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible. Significant events throughout the course of the play were used to highlight and illustrate the importance of these themes within the duration of the play.
But this wasn’t enough the Nazi party they wanted them gone from the world a complete genocide. At the Wannsee Conference in 1942, the Germans came up with a solution to their “Jew Problem” (The History Place holocaust timeline). They planned to wipe 11 million people from the face of the earth, at a faster rate than their camps natural causes (starvation and over working), and treatment accordingly policy (gas chambers) (The History Place holocaust timeline). This is horrific to think of a governing body having a convention to map out the genocide of a whole race and regarding said plan as a solution. The Nazis started to carry out complete genocide against the socially undesired and with every inch the Allies made closer to stopping the harder they relentlessly pushed to finish the extermination. The Nazis began to feel the tables of war turning against their favor and started to try to finish the final solution. Seeing the end near the Nazi party started to kill the problem quicker using mass graves with firing squads, and pushing more people to the gas chamber. Hitler surrounded by Allies soldiers sees no way out and takes his own life instead taking the embarrassment of loss and being charged with crimes of war. The war was over but Hitler’s death camps claimed the lives of approximately six million
Nationalism has played a crucial role in world history over the past centuries. It continues to do so today. For many, nationalism is indelibly associated with some of the worst aspects of modern history, such as the destructive confidence of the Napoleon’s army and the murderous pride of Nazi Germany. Large numbers of people, descent in their hearts, have carried out unbelievable atrocities for no better reason than their nation required them to. Authoritarian and totalitarian regime have crushed dissent, eliminated opposition, and trampled on civil liberties in the name of the nation.
As time goes on, history has a way of getting distorted from its most truthful form. Time causes people to drift away from accuracy and become more interested in what they want to remember. Hollywood has a reputation of creating films that cater more to the average viewer, rather than the history buff. Inglorious Basterds, by Quentin Taratino, take very liberal liberty with a history story, and creates a story that will sell to the crowd. This may seem dubious, but it is often not such a bad thing. Hollywood can take a story that may have one connotation, may it be serious or dreary, and turn it into something that evokes different emotions, will still addressing historical issues or topics. Taratino chooses to film a movie of this type because of the way he can portray a very serious topic in way that no one has before. He picks the topic of World War II and the Nazi’s, but does not take the generic portrayal of it. Many previous movies of this subject have been released either show heroic American that battle insurmountable odds, or forsaken Jews that fight threw the worst. While it may seem dark to make a movie that takes a serious subject so lightly, it is part of the process of history. As it becomes more and more distant in time, there is less and less truth and seriousness put into it. It is seen in many other Hollywood movies, such as The Patriot (2000), 300 (2007), Braveheart (1995), and Django Unchained (2012). The interesting thing in many of the movies like these, is the enemy is often portrayed in an extremely negative, almost so extreme, they could be compared to the Nazis. Hollywood uses that Nazis as the level setter for enemies, it does not get worse than them. It is interesting to see how Taratino portrays the ...
