In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, it is very easy to become fixated, and consumed by the negative situations that occur. I chose to use the themes of Faith, Hope, and Love. It is particularly difficult for me to find examples of these themes throughout the book, especially towards the culmination. This relates to how it is very easy to focus on the negative things in life. Everything depends upon the lens you choose to look through. Faith is mostly seen at the beginning of the text. The farther along you go, the less and less faith you are able to see. This is a show of how the horrors described in the book dehumanize and demoralize people. For example, on page 33 of the book, it says “Someone began to recite Kaddish, the prayer for the dead.” Later on in the book, the author states “For God sake, where is …show more content…

Here are some examples: “I fought my way to the coffee cauldron like a wild beast. And I succeeded in bringing back the cup. “ (Page 107). This quote is in reference to Elie's dad being very sick and wanting a cup of coffee. Elie knew that there was not much that he could do for his father, so he did the best he could. He showed his love to his father by guaranteeing that he could bring back a cup of coffee. Another example is “The sick were allowed to stay on the block”. So I would be sick. I didn't want to leave my father.” (Page 111). This quote shows Ellie's love for his father by demonstrating that he wanted to be with him as he knew his father was close to death. He shows his everlasting love and loyalty to his father by staying by his side throughout the whole ordeal. As he sees other people beat, and kill their weak fathers, abandon them, etc, he decides that he will not be like that because he loves his father to death.
