3.2.2 The Meaning of Signs and Colour in “The Fault in Our Stars” Movie In this movie, there are three types of signs that could be found. Each of them has different shape and characteristics for example Symbol, has some shapes such as the trafic signs, numbers, Exclamative sentence, flag and Alphabetical letter. Similar to the rest of types of sign which has various examples. Therefore, the analysis would be different for each sign. A. Symbol of Exclamative Sentence This sign appeared in the scene when Hazel Grace and her mother visit Dr. Maria in the hospital. Right behind the doctor, sticked to the cupboard that hanging up above. The hospital is a children hospital in which the sign is made up as attractive as well, completed by the picture. It was made up with orange background. The sign is about exclamation. Symbol of Netherland Flag Netherland, the other name of Dutch, has a national flag. The movie was held in that country as a story tells that Hazel Grace and Gus would meet their favorite novel’s author. The flag occurs in the scene when Hazel, her mother and Augustus just arrived in Netherland. It is on a boat or ship that brings the tourists’ sightseeing above the river. The three colours of the authentic flag of Netherland are orange, white and blue. They derive from the history of William I, Prince of Orange who led the independence movement against Spain. The tranformation completed in 1660 that the orange colour was replaced by the red one and there was no recognation for the replacement.
