Recommended: A short essay on fairy tales

Fairy Tales have been a part of literacy for centuries. Different types of Fairy Tales were written for adults. As a result, adults have learned many lessons which and embedded throughout Fairy Tales. Symbolism a type of literacy technique is used among many Fairy Tales. Symbolism allows the reader to create a deeper meaning as well as emotion. In “Cinderilla,” Perrault uses the glass slippers, the ball and the god mother to symbolize faith. Throughout the fairytale Perrault uses objects, characters and setting to symbolize the idea of faith. Without symbolism, the fairytale would not have as big of an impact on the reader. This is due to the cause of a symbol representing a deeper meaning. In other words, symbolism is the icing on a cake. Without it the story is dull, plain and overall not interesting. That is the main reason being that symbolism plays a huge role in the Fairy Tale “Cinderilla.” The glass slipper, the god mother and the ball each have a great significance in the story. Each symbol symbolizes faith in a unique and distinct manner. The idea of faith is seen several times along the text on “Cinderilla.” Faith is having trust in someone or something. The previous quote relates to the fairy tale “Cinderilla” because Cinderilla shows a sign of maturity. In the text it states “Cinderilla took them up, and told them, as she embraced them, that she forgave them with all her heart, and desired them always to love her” (Perrault 166). A heroine in a fairy tale is to be seen as a mentor, a model to easily portray what is right, and what is inherently wrong. For instance, a passive heroine proves to bring eventual reward through pain and suffering, while a female who is assertive, either mentally or physically, is shunned. Suggestions integrated throughout the text of the three tales provide strong evidence as to the desired morals and values of the society in which the tales were written. Through the examination of tales, their inherent messages surface. Children’s perceptions of fairytales can go a long way towards shaping social interactions among said children. Passivity is a major player in the personalities of Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Rapunzel relies completely on a determined prince to escape her imprisonment; Cinderella uses a fairy godmother to help her cause and Sleeping Beauty waits until Prince Charming wakes her. Children could see these characterizations of women and begin to intertwine them with their own budding personalities. Boys begin to see women as weak and Girls may interpret these behavior traits as indicative of their being the lesser part of relationships with men. Sexual roles, although not overtly discussed within the pages of fairytales, becomes the focus for these young people. Marcia Lieberman reiterates the idea of inherent roles stating, "a picture of sexual roles, behavior psychology, and a way of predicting outcome or fate according to sex"(Lieberman, 384).
