Frankenstein Thematic Essay
Did you know, galvanism has been used to bring many animas and even some humans back to life. In the story of "Frankenstein", Doctor Victor Frankenstein brings a human back to life using only the power of electricity. He takes body parts of those who have deceased to create a full body in order to bring his creation to life. In "Frankenstein", Mary Shelley presents the idea the exploring areas such as galvanism can lead to unpredicted outcomes which can then affect the lives of others and the integrity of science itself.
Victor has a certain pursuit of knowledge in the story of "Frankenstein" that leads to the death of his younger brother, William. In the beginning of chapter seven Victor receives a letter from his father regarding the death of his younger brother. His father is very emotional in this letter and he is desperate to know the person to blame for the unlawful homicide. He says: "William is dead! That sweet child, whose smiles delighted and warmed my heart, who was so gentle, yet so gay. Victor, he is murdered"(Shelley 55). Justine died, but not directly because of the monster killing her. The monster had previously killed William but instead of taking the blame, he decided to frame Justine for Williams death. Justine was then prosecuted and hanged because she confessed her guilt even though she was innocent. Victor says: "the dead calmness of inaction and certainty which follows and deprives the soul both of hope and fear. Justine died, she rested, and I was alive"(Shelley 72). This quotation shows that Victor feels remorse because both William and Justine had died due to the creation that he made with his own hands.
