"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase," that's how Martin Luther King Jr. described the process of faith during a speech he delivered in the sixties. King Jr. was a strong advocate for peace and racial equality as well as a believer in Christ and a teacher for those who needed to be shown the right path. He taught people that having faith is a healthy tool for the mind that helps get us through the toughest times in our lives. Faith can be defined by Christian Virtue as a strong belief that something is true; in spite of evidence to the contrary that it is a belief beyond evidence or logical argument. To others faith is something that they use to have confidence about their daily lives and to many skeptics it is a complete waste of time. These skeptics say that having faith is a lost cause capable of giving no answers towards the understanding of who we are and what our purpose is. They say that if you can't see God, then he beyond a doubt cannot exist. Is seeing really believing, is having faith just one big hoax? Faith goes beyond seeing and believing, it starts with an action, with taking a step, with taking a risk. An explanation isn't always necessary in life.
The skeptics mentioned earlier unfortunately regard faith as something to laugh at being that they are so immovable in their own personal views thinking that science is the answer for everything. They think that only with in science and rationale explanations an answer can be found for every dilemma that arises and if science cant entirely prove it than it doesn't exist. The latest surveys tell us that over 90% of the people in the world today believe in the existence of God or some higher power. Just because you can't see him isn't a good enough explanation for not having faith. If God so desired, he could simply appear and prove to the whole world that he exists but if he did there would longer be a need for faith. So is faith just one big hoax? A couple of years ago I would have said hoax, but now as I grow and mature mindfully and spiritually I now finally understand what faith is truly about. Faith is about enriching one's soul preparing that person for anything that's to come in life. So when the day comes that we die, transcend into heaven, and meet God face to face I guess we can all say that seeing isn't all that its really cracked up to be.
Faith is an important aspect in everybody. It helps us see God, and believe in him. Our faith is always tested when there is a hard theological decision to make or somebody else trying to break your bold with God. The movie Field of Dreams, is a great example of how staying true to your faith can sometimes be hard.
The definition of faith is, as a strong belief or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. The fact that someone has faith doesn’t mean that they won’t face difficult circumstances, such as renunciation, the loss of a loved one, or deception; rather they trust in their god or gods to carry them through their troubling circumstances to the other side. Faith is in the heart and as has been said, the heart has reason which reason cannot understand. So if it were a fight over finding rationality, it would not be fully supported because finding the complete and total reason for faith will never be found.

Young Goodman Brown is a character in "Young Goodman Brown," who leaves his known world in Salem village and travels an unknown road in a dark forest in the middle of the night, a common motif in literature better known as the Hero's journey, and is faced with obstacles. He must decide if he will carry his journey out till the end, or turn back and not learn the truth about himself and other humans.
Faith is the way an individual responds to the grace of God. Faith is only possible through God and cannot be obtained without God. “Faith is the appropriate way, in which humans respond to the provenience, justifying, and sanctifying grace of God. Human being can and must be collaborators with God in the great work of redemption”(p. 78, Campbell and Burns). Wesley believe that sanctification is by faith and that faith is only possible through the grace of God towards us.
Richard Dawkins believes faith and religion are dangerous because they are viral and lead people to believe irrational ideas that can be perverted to discriminate against others. He is correct because religion is based on faith which is blind to reason, religion is too open to interpretation and thus too easy to pervert, and it is viral and easy to spread in its nature. Blind faith is extremely dangerous because it can lead almost anyone to believe something unwaveringly, whether it is good or bad. When coupled with the openness of religion to interpretation, faith in discriminating and harmful beliefs can lead to hard-to-negotiable conflicts. Having faith is believing in things that you don’t see. According to the Meditations, Descartes gets rid of beliefs that he isn’t certain of and keeps the ones that are undoubtable. He tries to prove that God has must exist since we have such a clear and distinct idea of him. I believe it is impossible to prove without a doubt that God exists.
Non-religious people would say that believing in God and higher authority is irrational and mainly because of the two reasons. One of them is lack of evidence and other one is evidence to the contrary. In other words, the belief in God is rational only when there is a sufficient evidence for the existance of God (Clark, n.d.). God’s existance is a certain type of claim and it requires approporiate evidence in order to support it (Corbett, 2012). Let’s say for instance, that someone wants to validate geographical claims. It would be very easy to validate them through using maps or small size globe. Or for example, validation of distance can be done by using different kinds of measurements. But how do you validate God’s existance? You cannot measure it, or use maps in this case. Does the Bible trully claims the exsistance of God? One of the epistemologic objections would be the question about all the evil in the world (Corbett, 2012). If the God exists, how come there is so much pain, struggle and suffering in the world? Why did some little baby, or any human in general deserve do die or suffer from illness? Religion, which is meant to enhance the faith of it followers, has done the opposite. The practices of religion have become overwhelmingly factual that the faith component of religion has vanished. In order to be a genuine beliver one must comprise an authentic faith. Both religious leaders and followers must realize that their religion is not factual, but sustained through faith. The Bible teaches that the proof of faith, what faith is based on, is evidence. What is the evidence? Evidence means proof and proof means evidence. It is the testimony, validity, experience, test, and/or the quality of having being tested or tried. The trial or test that a person has been through or is going through where there seemed to be or seems to be no end. The long suffering, the experience of that test or trial, and the outcome of that test and trial and 100 percent of the time it is a positive outcome and the proof is their testimony, the proof is their walk and what they did through their walk, where they put their Faith, their evidence, their proof. In today’s modern western society, it has become increasingly popular to not identify with any religion, namely Christianity. The outlook that people have today on the existence of God and the role that He plays in our world has changed drastically since the Enlightenment Period. Many look solely to the concept of reason, or the phenomenon that allows human beings to use their senses to draw conclusions about the world around them, to try and understand the environment that they live in. However, there are some that look to faith, or the concept of believing in a higher power as the reason for our existence. Being that this is a fundamental issue for humanity, there have been many attempts to explain what role each concept plays. It is my belief that faith and reason are both needed to gain knowledge for three reasons: first, both concepts coexist with one another; second, each deals with separate realms of reality, and third, one without the other can lead to cases of extremism.
In the question of faith and reason it is ridiculous to claim that God or any matter of the Divine may be proven by reason. And although I agree with the Bernard of Clairvaux on this one matter I agree for a different reason. He leaves the only answer to be faith. I do not think there is any true way to prove religious matters. Though it may be easy at times to disprove them with the use of reason, it becomes difficult to do so with faith. It is impossible to use faith and reason in conjunction with eachother. Faith is a belief in something that does not have reason, so therefore if something can be proved with philosophical reasoning there would be no reason to have faith except for in the case where reason does not answer the question. This reasoning equation, in the end, does not add up.
Let’s start off by explaining what atheism is, it’s when you don’t believe in any form of an “Intelligent Creator” or God, as usually referred to as. The word atheism comes from the root word “theism”, which is when you believe in a God, or numerous Gods depending on the religion, and the prefix “a”, which means “not”. There are no set practices of atheism, or a set list of beliefs. To be an atheist you must believe what you would like and simply live your life without constraints based on what you believe is good or bad, not what you are told is good or bad. There is a constant debate against atheism from the theist side, because both sides’ arguments are polar opposites and each believes their side of the argument is 100% valid. I will state my view on some arguments, and clarify some common atheist stereotypes.
Growing up I was raised in a religious household, so, of course, I’m a big believer in God and my faith. To me, God is the creator of all and I believe Judgment Day is going to come very soon.The definition of faith is the belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion. My faith and the reason for my faith goes hand in hand because it makes me know the truth and opens my eyes to this world. Also, I get clarity of why I’m in this world which is to make it a better place. But seeing the world as faith with reason or reason with faith has a few challenges and can make things a little bit difficult. Same goes for science and religion which butt heads a lot. Some may feel that the Big Bang Theory created
