Teaching and teachers have been around for a long time. In the Old Testament, the instruction was provided by the scribes. Even though we don’t have an in-depth description of teaching techniques, we do have an idea that the usual method was rote memory. The teacher’s role was to communicate the message and the hearer was to recite that same message back to the teacher. Teaching then moved to another phase – this next phase was to arouse the listener’s aptitude by presenting problems and to cultivate the students use of his powers by demanding that he exercise those powers. This background just mentioned was to help us understand the Old Testament teaching, which laid the groundwork for the ultimate teacher – Jesus the Christ.
In the New Testament, the title, master teacher is given to Jesus Christ. His teachings show that he acted and was regarded by others as a teacher in the Jewish sense of the word (Rabbi/Scribe). He is described as a teacher of the Law because he taught the way of God truthfully. His teaching caused admiration and astonishment because he was teaching “with power”. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. This scripture lets us know that Jesus had originality of form; that when He departed from the rigid teaching patterns, He was received with hostility by the “religious leaders” of the day. Isn’t it interesting, that our Master Teacher Jesus was indeed a rebel preacher? He was not merely an expounder of traditional teaching; He taught his own positive doctrine and based it upon His personal authority. We must first recognize that Jesus’ authority is all-inclusive in heaven and in earth. It means that the angels in Heaven, the demons in Hell, human beings o earth and the church are subject to Him and are under his great authority. The first imperative of the Great Commission is to go. As they, Christians are to teach or make disciples or learners after him, learning the things they must do and must become if they are to be born into His kingdom.
Just as it was then, the spiritual education of the children is primarily the responsibility of the parent. As the children of Israel trekked from Egypt to the Promised Land their teaching was not an activity limited to an isolated part of the day. Rather it was instruction interwoven with the activities of life. Dt 6:7 The teaching was to be while they were sitting, walking, lying down, and rising up. Just as it did then, this teaching was to be a demonstration of a lifestyle woven into the tapestry of everyday life.
When Jesus called His disciples, His invitation was simple. He invited them to follow Him. The same is true today. In Matthew 28, Jesus gave His last charge to His disciples, and the charge was simple. He called his followers to go and make disciples. Much effort has been placed by Christians to fulfill this charge, commonly referred to as the Great Commission. Jesus chose to fulfill the implementation of the New Covenant through 12 men who He called, appointed, and commissioned, and he only had a few short years to prepare them for the task (Willson, 1990). His methods were unconventional and were revolutionary for that time. His disciples were to be trained extensively by Jesus, living with Him for three years prior to His ascension. He taught about servant leadership and its meaning for both the leader and follower Matt. 20:25-28). From the beginning, Jesus put in place a careful plan, and an examination of His actions in the Gospels showed that Jesus left behind the pattern to be replicated. His methods, which included the incorporation of three different levels of discipleship, included His interaction with Peter, His closest three (Peter, James, and John), and finally the group of 12. This paper identified and analyzed the three levels of discipleship Jesus modeled, these discipleship methods were then measured against modern leadership theories, and Jesus’s level of involvement and interaction with his disciples were critiqued in light of these modern theories in an effort to determine the effectiveness of this approach.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:16, "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ." We can know what Christ thinks on every subject, every matter, if we understand what the Bible says. So we need to know only teach the Bible, but we need to teach people how to study the Bible. That is lacking.

The Person of Christ When discussing and proving the person of Christ, there are two basic laws that must be addressed and proven. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity). As human, Christ had a body, he had a soul and spirit, he had human characteristics, and he was called by human names. First and foremost, I will always be focused on the fact that it is my responsibility as a teacher to “cause my students to learn”. I cannot teach my students content unless I have prayed and asked God for illumination and for an “appliers heart”. It is important that I understand the content and application before I teach this to my students which should result in a life change for them. Captain America, Batman, Thor, Iron Man, and a teacher, to some people these names all bring to mind the same word—hero. However, one must be careful when comparing teachers to heroes, especially when considering how the media portrays teachers. While media can give off the impression that teachers are the heroes and saviors of the world, as Ayers says in chapter 1 of the book To Teach: the journey, in comics, a teacher’s job is not to save a child, but to teach them.
When thinking of a philosophy of teaching, four major issues need to be considered. Those issues are one’s views on education, the role of the teacher, teaching and learning, and on the children. This is something that someone entering the teaching profession needs to give serious thought to and realize the importance that this will hold in the future. The following essay will express my philosophy of teaching.

A teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children), or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and computers to present academic, social, and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, kids with special needs, and P.E. Teaching has changed a lot compared to the traditional methods of just lectures and textbooks. Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process. Being a teacher would be a great career for anyone who wants to further themselves, to help people, and to have great benefits (chronicle guidance publications).
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
