The US Border Patrol
The U.S. Border Patrol is the organization that polices the entry of illegal
immigrants into our country. The official mission of the United States Border
patrol is to protect the boundaries of the United States by preventing illegal
entry, and by detecting, interdicting, and apprehending illegal aliens,
smugglers, and contraband. Today, the United States Border Patrol consists of
21 sectors. Each sector is headed by a chief patrol agent. There are 145
stations located throughout the continental United States, and in Puerto Rico.
The Border Patrol controls the border by land, sea, and air. The Border
Patrol has jurisdiction across all United States borders and at least 25 miles
off the border. The Border Patrol agents are responsible to check factories
for illegal workers. As of September of 1995, the Border Patrol had 530
agents.
The Border Patrol's efforts may be sufficient but many people believe that
there are many problems in the methods of the Border Patrol. First, many
people think that all of the equipment is costing the taxpayers too much. An
estimation by TIME magazine states that in California alone, $400 million is
spent on healthcare for illegal immigrants. CNN says that the care of illegal
immigrants in one hospital in Jacksonville, Florida costs taxpayers $44.5
million. A Federal Government estimate says that $1.6 billion dollars is
spent on the education of illegal immigrants each year in California alone.
Just think of how much money is spent on illegal immigrants across the
country. Now this is just the cost of the immigrants that get through the
border patrol. These costs could be greatly lowered if the Border Patrol
would do its job. Let alone the cost of the illegal immigrants that manage to
get through the Border Patrol, the Border Patrol alone is costing plenty. In
an overview, some people believe that we are spending too much money on the
border patrol, considering that they simply are not doing their job. We are
giving them so much money to get the latest equipment, but still people are
getting through.
The people in favor of the Border patrol have the basic idea that, yes, the
Border Patrol used to be ineffective, but now due to many improvements in
federal money, manpower, and technology the Border Patrol is very effective.
They say that the reason for all the illegal immigrants in the U.S. is due to
when the Border Patrol was not as effective as it could or should be.
The mission and values of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is up held with strong Constitutional values. Over the years since the FBI was created in 1908 by Attorney General Charles Bonaparte during the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. As a progressive during this time period Bonaparte applied his philosophy to forming the FBI with several corps of agents. His thought was that these men should have expertise and not political connections. With the U.S. Constitution based on “federalism” a national government with jurisdiction over matters that cross boundaries, such as interstate and foreign affairs.
In “The Border Patrol State” Leslie Silko makes accusations of the border patrol’s mistreatment of American citizens of Mexican decent, making the argument with almost evidence. Silko, a critically acclaimed poet, sees the border patrol as a governmental assembly addicted to interrogation, torture, and the murder of those they see fit.
United States Border Patrol has been around since 1904 enforcing and regulating laws under the immigration and Nationality Act. U.S. border patrol is now under the Department of Homeland Security, which was created as a response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. Over the years, their jurisdiction and missions have changed to better protect the safety of nation. Although border patrol is a need for any nation, their extensive acceptations to constitutional laws can often be taken advantage of. The mission of the U.S. border patrol should be to prevent illegal aliens, which are a threat to American society, from reaching their purpose. Frequently, their purpose can be confused or executed in a bias manner.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement often referred to as I.C.E is an elite agency under the branch of Homeland Security formed in 2003 in response to the attacks on 9/11. ICE has two major components, Homeland Security Investigations and Enforcement and Removal Operations. It is also the second largest law enforcement organization in the United States, second only to the FBI. ICE was created when merger of the investigative and interior enforcement elements of the U.S. Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. ICE has over twenty thousand employees in offices all over the U.S. and in forty seven foreign countries, about seven thousands of these employees are special agents. ICE has only one field office in New Jersey, located in Newark but it has nearby offices in Philadelphia and New York City. ICE has six detention facilities in New Jersey. A few of them are: Bergen County Jail, Monmouth County Correctional Institution, and Essex County Correctional Facility. Currently ICE doesn’t have a director, but the assistant director is Daniel Ragsdale and Chie...
Whitman’s work has an arguable style that makes his work appear as an egotistical piece of literature for some and others may find a different deeper meaning within his work. This work is an excellent example of patriotic work that attempts better its audience throughout by making revelations and comparisons of different idea and thoughts about the nation's people. Whitman illustrates his interpretation of what a kind of person is a great person is and how they go about life. He intends to make his audience better as a whole and understand the underlying problem that some have. Whitman's writing truly expresses his feelings about his time and what he expects from them for a better
Immigrants have always been an important part of United States’ population. Each year, there are hundreds of thousands of immigrants, from all around the world, including legal and illegal, come into the United States for job opportunities, new life, or the American Dream. “Immigrants have contributed significantly to the development of the United States. During the Lincoln administration, immigrants were actually encouraged to come to America, as they were considered valuable to the development of the country.” (Soylu & Buchanan, 2013). They believe that the US will give them more freedom, protection, and opportunities, which sometimes it becomes the major issues for immigrants. That’s why “the U.S. population is becoming more racially and

Ruth raised lots of kids and her main intention was to get them all to a place in life were the could be successful and provide for themselves and have a nice family, as all mothers tried to do when they raise they own children. But she failed to raise James, she was not able to shape him the way she wanted. The affect this had on Ruth was that she resulted in sent James to live with his Aunt to get a taste of the real world because she failed to express to him what the world was and how to live life and get by. James learned a lesson from this, that you should listen to you peers especially your own mother they know what’s best to get you where you need to
The speaker of this poem is sitting in a lecture-room listening to the astronomer discuss diagrams and charts of the stars. The speaker eventually leaves the lecture and goes to look at the stars outside. The stars in this poem symbolize both nature and isolation. The speaker states, “In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time, / [I] Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars” (7-8). The speaker references the stars and night-air to create a calm atmosphere. The speaker also seems to be infatuated with the stars in their natural element, and not in diagrams and charts. The speaker also say, “I wander’d off by myself” (5). The speaker longs to be isolated with nature. This isolation allows for the speaker to come to his own realizations about the world, instead of it being determined by society’s view. Whitman utilizes this poem to explain how nature is beautiful on its own, and how charts can’t display its real beauty to the viewer. Whitman exercises the Romaticism themes of Isolation and Love of Nature in this poem by explaining how nature reveals its beauty to each individual in a different
First of all, I love the awareness that Whitman has of his own life, and of everyone elseís life. He hides nothing of himself from the reader, and offers himself truthfully, saying:
Whitman began writing his most well known work in the year of 1848; nearly seven years later he completed a substantial amount of writings all housed under the cover of “Leaves of Grass” in which “Song of the Open Road” is permanently housed. Whitman gifts the reader with seventeen verses identifying a prolific time in his life as a war journalist out on the open road but moreover the open road of spirit and breath of life. This...
...ifficult. Consequently, if logic blocks are statically determined to be operating at low or high VDD, the placement and routing algorithms need to be modified accordingly as in [11]. However, static assignment of VDD to the blocks may prevent the ability to reduce power consumption or to meet timing constraints for some designs. In contrast, the use of VDD-programmability for each block helps to tune the number of high and low VDD blocks as desired by the application. In this approach, the challenge is in determining the VDD assignments to each block. The need for level converters wherever an low-VDD logic block drives an high-VDD block and the associated delay and energy overheads are an important consideration when performing these VDD assignments. Furthermore, positioning of the level converters influences the ability to assign lower VDD’s to the routing blocks.
...sly is a stronger emotion than sympathy. My results also say that feeling a little happy when another person messes up is not a bad thing to feel. Most people chose sometimes that they like the feeling. Most of the ten people I surveyed said that it depended on the situation. So yes my results answered my question.
