Our future technology idea is called the Trans-Pod. It is the future of urban transportation. The Trans-Pod is a form of rapid transit designed to be used in unban civilizations. It is very similar to a subway system except is it above ground and in the air. There is a long beam that serves as a train track. Train “pods” are attached with wheels below the beam. It is intended to be safer than a train because the “pods” are evenly spaced, and it is monitored twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to prevent collisions. Our rapid transit system is also better for our environment. It runs off solar power instead of using harmful fuel or electricity. There will be solar

Rapid transit systems are typically found in urban areas. Rapid transit systems are usually trains that are in underground tunnels, called, “subways.” Some trains travel above ground on tracks in streets, called, “light rails.”
Some cities in the United States that have rapid transit subway systems are New York City, Washington, D.C., Boston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. A few cities in the United States that have light rail systems are Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver, and Minneapolis-St. Paul. There are also many subway systems around the world, including the London Subway, the Paris Metro, the Moscow Subway, and many others.
History
The first underground trains were used to transport industrial goods, such as coal and iron. The first passenger underground train system was built in London, England in 1863. This was called the “London Underground” in, of course, London, England. Another early rapid transit subway system was built in New York City, New York. This was called the “West Side and Yonkers Patent Railway”, which was built in

In the future of rapid transit, we believe trains will be more like pods attached with wheels to a beam in the air of large cities. We feel that if this invention existed, it would be the main method of transportation. To get up to the trains, you will use an elevator or stairs to get to the train platform and wait for your train to arrive.
Not only would this invention be good for transportation, it would also prevent people from getting in accidents. It would prevent accidents because all of the “pods” would be evenly spaced, so there would be no way for the trains to collide. Our new way of commuting from place-to-place is also very environmentally friendly. Many modern subway systems use gasoline or electricity to power their trains. However, our rapid transit system uses solar panels on each of our trains and on top of the beam where the train is attached. In case of an emergency situation, our trains will be equipped with the supplies you would need to be safe. Each train will be equipped with a fire extinguisher, in case of a fire. If the train unexpectedly stops, there will be an escape hatch in the floor, and there will be a rope ladder to get off the
An Underground Railroad is not actually underground nor a railroad. It was named this because it worked similarly to the way railroads do. This process is most popularly known for the network of people, safe houses, and routes that helped escaped slaves in the South travel to the North to be free in the 1800s when slavery was at its most popular in the United States.
The Underground Railroad was large group of people who secretly worked together to help slaves escape slavery in the south. Despite the name, the Underground Railroad had nothing to do with actual railroads and was not located underground (www.freedomcenter.org). The Underground Railroad helped move hundreds of slaves to the north each year. It’s estimated that the south lost 100,000 slaves during 1810-1850 (www.pbs.org).
The Underground Railroad was the way out of slavery. The railroad was operated by conductors, or people who helped the slaves escape. When traveling on the railroad the conductors would have the slaves stay at stations. Which were homes and/or churches. These were safe places to rest and eat. When traveling on the railroad, white people would act as a master to the fugitives. If there was no one that was a white, lighter skin African Americans would take the job. The railroad would operate at night, because slave catchers and sheriffs were always on watch for escaping slaves. There were 3,200 people known to work on the Underground Railroad. Many of those thousands are still remained anonymous (US History.org).
In the nineteenth century, before the American Civil War, slavery was a normal occurrence in most of America. The Underground Railroad was a series of routes in which in enslaved people could escape through. The “railroad” actually began operating in the 1780s but only later became known as the underground railroad when it gained notability and popularity. It was not an actual railroad but a series of routes and safe houses that helped people escape entrapment and find freedom in free states, Canada, Mexico as well as overseas.
The railroad played a major role in forging the history of many countries including the United States of America. The railroad began to bring people to places that before then where only accessed by weeks of dangerous travel over harsh and deadly terrain. The industrial revolution had ushered in a completely new era. The new era was one of mass production, supply and demand, and new requirements of industry. The growth of industry had created new demands for transit, trade, and more robust supply lines. The railroad boom across the U.S. had spread and proceeded to grow the economy quickly therefore, many people began using the rail roads just as quickly. The rail market continued to grow and by the 1860’s all major cities within the United States were connected by rail.
The Underground Railroad was what many slaves used to escape slavery. It was not an actual railroad, although it could easily be compared to one. It was a route, with safe houses and many other hiding spots for the slaves to use. The paths had conductors telling you where to go and people who would drive you to the next safe house. You had to be quick, you had to be strong, and you had to be very courageous. The Underground Railroad led all the way to Canada. There were many people helping the slaves, and even more people that were opposing them. It was no easy task. Many slaves died of sickness or natural causes, gave up and returned back to the plantation, or were caught and either killed or brought back. It was a rough journey but a good number of slaves prevailed and escaped to liberty, which in this time was not America.
The underground railroad was a network of northerners that helped slaves reached the north and Canada for safety from their plantation. It was secret and railway terms were used to describe system as a way to hide the real nature of the operation. The underground railroad extended from Maine to Nebraska but was most concentrated in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indian, New York, and The New England States. More of the more specific spots were Detroit, Michigan, Erie, Pennsylvania, Buffalo and New York.
The New York City Subway is one of the oldest public transit systems in the world, and Manhattan has its fair share of it, especially in the form of abandoned subway stations.Subways are great mean of transportation, with great historical and geographical value. Interborough Rapid Transit company built the first subway in 1904. The subway consisted of what is today the IRT Lexington Avenue Line south of 42nd Street, the 42nd Street Shuttle and the IRT Broadway - Seventh Avenue Line between 42nd and 145th Streets. 28th Street is a part of the first IRT line of NewYork city. It a local station on the Lexington Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Park
They travelled along it during the night and escaped to Pennsylvania in 1849. Many individuals offered housing and protection along the way to Pennsylvania. This led to the Underground Railway that saved many African Americans from slavery. The Underground Railroad was a network of ways that slaves used to escape to the free-states in the North. The Underground Railroad did not gain that name until around 1830 (Donald - ). There were many conductors, people who helped and housed the escaping slaves, but there are a few that have made records. The Underground Railroad was a big network, but it was not run by one certain organization; instead it was run by several individuals (PBS - )
"The Underground Railroad" was not really a railroad, but a title to a 200 year old struggle for freedom (Demand). "The Railroad" became the first civil rights movement for the United States, and one of the most impacting movements to date. It was also one of the first times in history where blacks and whites intermingled for the same cause in coherence. The actual operation was called "the freedom train" and on that imaginary train there were "conductors", these people later came to be known as the activists for the abolition of slavery. These brave men and women performed life risking tasks that led them to help as many slaves to escape as possible. These heroes gradually became incredibly well known over the decades. Many still have their names today like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Henry Thoreau, Harriet Beecher Stowe and many more. (Demand)
The Underground Railroad is famous for the things it has done, but most people don't understand or fully know what it was really about. First of all, it has nothing to do with an underground train or railroad as it may seem. The term "Underground Railroad" actually has different stories for its inception. One of these stories was of Tice Davis, a runaway slave in 1831. While running away from his owner he dove into a creek and was out of the owner's sight. His owner said "he must have gone off on an underground railroad." (http://www.whispersofangels.com/opposing.html) Although highly unbelievable, it can be found quite amusing. The logical explanation, though, is that the word "underground" is a term for secretive, while "railroad" represents the working together of people like train cars to "ship" the slaves. The main reason for the Underground Railroad was the effort to abolish slavery. None of the other efforts were contributing as much, and it was definitely our country's first major anti-slavery movement.
First of all, according to Wright, in his article, Underground Railroad the term Underground Railroad started in 1830 when trains started to appear in America. The Underground Railroad was known to be a hidden network of people and places who helped escaped slaves from the south to the north, sometimes all the way to Canada. Slaves that travelled were thought to be a pack of men ranging from all ages but typically fifteen to thirty years of age (1). They travelled at night through the two main routes. The first route went straight north to Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. That route was mostly slaves from Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The second route took slaves from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware north through New Jersey (1). Other routes included Texas who would lead their slaves south over the Mexico border and Southern Florida slaves who would travel to the Bahamas or to the Caribbean. In New Jersey, slaves entered through Delaware and Pennsylvania and would move into New York. Almost all of the major paths have been identified within New Jersey where only two counties have been recognized with ha...
Introduction The Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is a self-balancing two-wheeled, battery-powered personal transportation device with a set of handlebars, see Figures below. It is self-balancing, really easy to operate and a personal commuter can travel up to 12 miles/hour. Although Segway is a technological marvel, it did not quite match the high expectations when it was first revealed in the press in 2001. Initially the press were carried away with this new interesting device and its potential to change the world and how we commute.
We all use vehicles for transportation. People usually go to their desired destination either by driving their own cars or traveling in public transportation. Actually, it might be tough to choose that which one is the best selection for people to travel. Many people choose one of them according to their comfort while traveling and both of them have advantages and disadvantages in different conditions. Public transportation and driving own car both shares differences and similarities in many aspects, such as facility, cost, and comfort as well as traffic jam and accident occurrence.
