The Temptations were the ideal group of male singers. The quintet accented each other to make many harmonious sounds, producing many hits through the 1960’s. They experienced many changes in the Temptations ‘lineup’ as time changed. New sounds and voices of the interchanging members brought different styles to the group. The Temptations are still known to this day for creating many great songs. The Temptations had originally started as a group of five members. There were always five group members. In the Beginning, the original five joined together from two groups, The Primes and the Distants. “Otis Williams, Paul Williams, Bryant, Franklin, and Kendricks joined together as the Elgins; after a name change to the Temptations” (Ankeny). …show more content…
The changes in members often were because of disagreements while others wanted to persue a solo career. The first change in members occured with Elbridge Bryant. He had burtally attacted Paul Williams. It is still unknown whether or not Bryant was fired or he resigned from the group, however David Ruffin was the tennor singer they needed. With Ruffin joining the group, many new songs were produced (Ankeny). Soon after “Ruffin failed to appear at a 1968 live performance, the other four Tempts fired him.” He was replaced by Denis Edwards who helped the other Temptations create their hit “Cloud Nine.” Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams later left the group, looking to have a solo career. Many songs that hit the number one spot on the charts you may be familiar with. Songs such as ‘My Girl’ were and still are quite popular. When the Temptations got together, some hits were soon released. “Early hits such as "My Girl," "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" and "Get Ready" remain beloved classics,” (Ankeny). They were very popular and are still known today. Some of the Temptations’ other hits were "Run Away Child, Running Wild," "Psychedelic Shack," and "Ball of Confusion (That's What the World Is Today).” These songs are not known as well as others but are definitly worth mentioning. The group even continued to produce more great songs through out the 70’s. “After the 1971 hit "Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)," they returned in 1972 with the brilliant number one single "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." “The Tempts hit the charts regularly throughout 1973 with "Masterpiece," "Let Your Hair Down," and "The Plastic Man,"” however popularity soon decreased as time progressed into the late 70’s. As he was in highschool, him and his brother, Gap, started to play professionally. Since Chuck preferred smaller jazz groups to large “big bands” he and his brother started a quintet in 1958 called the Jazz Brothers during his senior year. The band lasted until 1964 and included Sal Nistico and Roy McCurdy and later on, Jimmy Garrison, Steve Davis, and Ron Carter. The group recorded three albums in the Riverside Label: The Jazz Brothers, Hey Baby!, and Spring Fever. Later on, in 1962, Chuck made an album of his own, called Recuerdo. His biggest break was in 1970 when his recording at the Eastman theatre with the philharmonic was turned into an album.

While this Fisk group was active in the l890s, it continued on throughout the years, of course with some different members each year and a complete turnover of members within each four years. For the most part, the singers were students at Fisk.
The Temptations’ 1970 hit “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World is Today)” bravely sheds light on the political and social issues plaguing the world during the 1960’s. Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong, this song deviates from Motown’s usual clean and charismatic approach and serves as a prelude for songs like Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” Through the use of shrewd lyrics, psychedelic instrumentals, and intimidating vocals “Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World is Today)” serves its purpose in making a statement against the tumultuous world America created.
The group ranged from ages nine to fourteen. They group was brought to Berry Gordy’s attention by Bobby Taylor of the Vancouver. Berry Gordy fell in love with Michael. He sang his songs with so much feeling and inspiration and pain. It was like he had gone through everything he was singing about. Right off top, they exploded onto the pop and R&B charts in the 1969 with “I Want You Back”. Diana Ross played a big part in the Jackson 5’s debut. She allowed them to be an opening act for herself and the Supremes concert in Los Angeles, California in 1969. A few day later the group was on their way to stardom. Four chart-topping releases followed over the next eleven month with songs “ABC”, “The Love You Save”, and “I'll Be There”. That made Jackson 5 only group to have its first four records reach number 1 on the charts. This group captured the hearts of young people and a lot of other people ranging from different ages with their talent and charm. It was the youngest Michael in the group that was the lead singer and who stood out the most to the people. Years later, Berry Gordy recalled the group as a determination to succeed in his autobiography. He wrote their hard work was unconditional, and they were willing to sweat to
Here is a little background information about Darius Rucker and the band he formed in college. Darius was born May 13th, 1966; he was raised by a single mother and was one of six children. As a child, Darius sang in his Church choir and was part of his high school choir. After graduating high school he attended the University of South Carolina, which is where the band Hootie & the Blowfish was formed in 1986. It is said that Mark Bryan, a fellow band member, heard Darius singing in the shower and the two became a duo, named Wolf Brothers, before adding in the other two members. Dean Felber joined and then in 1989 Jim “Soni” Sonefeld joined, officially forming Hootie & the Blowfish. The band was signed by Atlantic Records and recorded six albums; all the albums featured songs written by Darius, Mark, and Felber. “The group's blusey harmonica solos—working in tandem with Rucker's de...

After many of World War II’s harmful effects, the 1950s served as a period of time of musical change that reflected the dynamic of society as well as the traditional norms and values. Many factors contributed to this transformation. For example, the civil rights movement heightened many racial tensions, and the music produced consequently manifested this tension in itself. Rock-n-roll and R&B music universalized music typically associated with African-Americans, and many African-American musicians gained fame; however, as with any relatively-widespread success, there were many musicians as well who missed their opportunities due to the same racial segregation. While “radical” genres such as R&B and rock-n-roll laid the foundation for music future forms of music, the standard pop, jazz, and country music adhered to traditional values, and thus continued to maintain popularity amidst phenomena such as the Elvis craze.
"You Really Got Me" reached number one within a month of its release; released on Reprise in the U.S., the single climbed into the Top Ten. " All Day and All of the Night," the group's fourth single, was released late in 1964 and it rose all the way to number two; in America, it hit number seven. During this time, the band also produced two full-length albums and several EPs. Not only was the group recording at a breakneck pace, they were touring relentlessly, as well, which caused much tension within the band.
Jimmy Page played guitar, Robert Plant was the vocalist, John Paul Jones played bass guitar and the keyboard, and John Bonham beat the drums. The group had the complete set up for a band right off the start. They produced their first record in thirty hours to complete their deal with the old Yardbirds. They toured Scandinavia for awhile also to complete their obligations to the Yardbirds.
Edgar Allan Poe is a famous writer in writing detective stories and horror stories. One of his horror stories, “The Cask of Amontillado” was talking about how a man took his revenge to his friend. However, to look deeply in this story, I found that this story was not just simply a horror tale about how a man gets his revenge in the safest way. Instead, it also demonstrates much irony in several areas: the title, the event, the season, the costume, the environment, the characters’ personalities, a man’s dignity and cockiness and at the end, the public order. he are
