“Sympathy for victims is always counterbalanced by an equal and opposite feeling of resentment towards them.”, by Ben Elton. In William Shakespeare’s tragedy play, it portrays a conspiracy against Julius Caesar which caused further controversies. The tragedy of the play was directed mainly about Marcus Brutus. Brutus made judgements at the point of view for the “good of Rome.” Brutus is an honorable man who was manipulated by Cassius to kill Julius Caesar for peace. Brutus was an exceptionally noble leader who did everything for the benefit of Rome. but he only turns out to be a victim.

He dedicates his life for the welfare of Rome. His wife’s death, Portia did not affected him that much because he bears being a true Roman due to the philosophy of Stoicism. People might misunderstood him as “cold-hearted”, but his mind is set to Rome.He is the type of person to put all his dedication for the people of Rome, and put aside his personal affairs. Brutus is also a warm hearted man which shows his actions to his servant, Lucius. He offers Lucius to sleep inside the tent due to the cold weather.
Last but not least, Brutus suicided to the ghost of Caesar that represented his regretness or remorseness over his death. The Ghost of Caesar makes him feel uncomfortable or regretful of his unforgivable actions. His hands shedded in blood does not make him a villain, but it makes him more of a victim that earns the audience's sympathy. He suicides by running on a sword which is his last death sentence. “Hold then my sword, and turn away thy face, while I do run upon it (875).” Brutus is a villain seen at first, but his death or regretness makes him a victim.
In conclusion, the tragedy of Julius Caesar portrays Marcus Brutus as a victim in my point of view. Brutus was an idealist which his idea was easily affected which were honorable as himself. Brutus’s personality does not make him a villain, but his own feelings and remorseness reflects him as a victim. To sum up, his actions proves him as a kind-hearted
