CAP 2
For this analysis, I will be breaking down the lyrics of the song "Let Her Go" by passenger. This song is about not realizing what you have until it is almost gone, or gone completely. It is a very emotional song that most people can really relate to. Although this sing is about the singer that goes through a break up with his girlfriend, only to realize that she was really important to him, and he feels like he is missing something in his life. In the opening verse he says "Well you only need the light when it's burning low". This is saying that you can be doing everything by yourself when you have something to guide you to the end, but once that "light" goes out and starts to "burn low", then you realize that you were relying on whatever it was to get you to the end. Next he says "Only miss the sun when it starts to snow" this is kind of like the last line but switched up the wording to make people understand it better. almost everyone, that has experiences the cold, can relate to how bad you want the sun to come out and be warm. So by him saying that you know what he is trying to convey. That is in the summer you dont really think about the sun, or you wish it to go away, but once winter comes around, and it is cold, you then wish to have that summer heat back. the last line in the opening of this song is where you start to get the true meaning of this song, he says "Only know you love her when you let her go" (Songmeanings). This lyric is showing that you can go through a relationship not really being happy and not realizing how important the other person is to you, but once they are out of your life you then realize how much they really meant to you.
The next verse is still part of th...

They are many potential effects or results of this song, and it all depends on who is listening to it. Overall when you really listen to the lyrics, it's a pretty sad song about someone that when through a breakup with someone that he was really in love with. It shows that he regrets the decision of breaking up with her. Some potential effects of this song are possibly people taking things that are in their life less for granted and realizing to respect what they have before it is gone. Not only does it make people respect what they have and to be thankful for it, but it is also a way to telling people to go out and do what you want before you miss that chance and its gone forever. However you view the song it is a great song that makes you realize that something you love, see or do every day could be not there the next day.
“Fire away. Take your best shot, show me what you got. Honey I’m not afraid (Chris, Lines 4-5)…” Strength, love, heartache, all words that many people can identify with, but what about mental illness, depression, and suicide. These words are those that humans avoid, pretend they are not there, but in reality those three words effect many more people that was ever thought possible. Over 18.2% of United States citizens suffer from a mental illness (Depression), 6.7% of United States citizens suffer from depression (Depression), and each year in the United States there are on average 42,773 deaths by suicide (American). Now, many people can relate to the words love and heartbreak, but many more can identify with the three words that the world
Rap music has given me personally something to look up to. Not a role model but hope of continuing my dreams because rappers successfully made it. “For what’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love” is from a song called “Love Yourz” by J. Cole. He clearly understands how there is “beauty in the struggle and ugliness in the success” because he’s lived that life. Other songs such as “2Face” or “The Autograph” were instantly relatable to me because he has been through several struggles from the beginning of his childhood. Cole’s father left when he was six leaving his mother and younger brother alone. Cole became “the man of the house” but becoming a rapper is not as easy as it seems. Cole’s messages in these two songs are relative because I too, have had several issues with my mother and father creating a sense of lonesome. Hearing music like Coles helped me overcome my
In the video produced on TED “Embrace the Remix” by Kirby Ferguson, he discusses the importance of understanding that “creativity comes from without not from within and that we are not self made but dependent on each other” (Ferguson, 2012). Ferguson discusses how everything is a remix and defines remixing as copying, transforming, and combining. He makes a logical sound argument through the use of logical fallacies to convince his viewers. Ferguson argues how remixing helps creativity through the use of logos by providing cases of Steve Jobs building off ideas, appealing to ethos with poisioning the wall fallacy, and emotionally appeal to the viewers through pathos with appeal to tradition.
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
The song is interesting because reading the lyrics, listening to the song, and watching the music video all give different meanings about the song. Reading the lyrics suggests that the song is a depressing story about the inner turmoil the writer is feeling and how he is not sure what to do with his life. But after listening to this upbeat and happy song, it seems like it may not be as dreary as it seemed at first. After watching the music video the message can be reinterpreted to be about the internal conflicts of a soldier fighting in a war and he does not know what he is fighting for. The fact that the music completely changes how the lyrics are interpreted is interesting. Nate uses many literary techniques to make this song mysterious and open to interpretation depending on how it is experienced.
2). However Russia’s allies had already entered the war forcing the country to succumb to the fight and support their allies. During the Great War, food supply was limited, war moral among the troops died out, and the endless defeats created hopeless citizens in Russia (“Romanov Family Executed” para. 2). Although there were devastating consequences to the war, the same problems were occurring in countries all over the world involved in the fight. Russia was immediately involved in the war when the Tsar of Russia declared war on Germany’s ally, Austria-Hungary. On the other hand, Germany was declaring war on Russia’s ally, Serbia (Allison para. 5). Tsar Nicholas Romanov supported Serbia because if Austria-Hungary were to invade Serbia, the small country would be unable to
1910 again saw a clash between workers and tsarist forces in Petersburgh. Lenin continued his “iron logic” as Russia braced for War against Germany because of its alliance with France. Lenin saw war as an excellent opportunity for peasant soldiers to turn their arms against the establishment. Lenin declared a “War on the War” and urged people to “turn imperialism into civil war.” “WWOrk for the defeat of you own government in the war” he wrote. His book “Imperialism, the highest stage of Capitalism” criticized capitalist explotation and asked for the adoption of socialism that departed from “colonies, monopolies, priveleges, and national oppression of every kind.” Not surprisingly, the Russi...
I decided to expand on my Week 5 Post All About That Bass. Our assignment for that week was to analyze Meghan Trainor’s song All About That Bass and to give our opinion on what message we believe the song lyrics and video provided the public with. The second part of our assignment also involved watching “It’s Not About the Nail” and the Dave Barry article that addressed stereotypes about gender and what affect they might have on individuals.
Russia lost many men in the battle which made them lose the war and they had to pay back. When they lost this caused the Russian economy to crash and by that caused the Russian revolution. The Russian Revolution began in 1917 after Russia lost many wars which made the economy weak. During the 1914 in World war 1 Russia had lost many supplies and military men and Russia lacked good leadership. Tsar Nicholas was in control of Russian government and the army and he refused to share his power with the masses. Then the Duma Parliament in the summer of 1915 demanded the government with democratic values and to show responsibility to the citizens in the country that needed help. However, later that year Nicholas eliminated the Duma and went to war. Tsar Nicholas left the country to be destroyed. Then the government was taken over by Tsarina Alexandra Nicholas wife. She attempted to rule absolutely in her husband’s absence by firing and electing officials of her
“We Found Love” is a popular song produced by Calvin Harris and features singer Rihanna. “We Found Love” reached the number one spot in the top charts in multiple countries in 2012 and the music video became popular very quickly after being filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The music video features a young couple living in an impoverished council estate in West Belfast. Both characters portrayed in the music video are in their twenties and of mixed race, one parent being black and the other being Caucasian. Their relationship is distinguished by domestic violence as the couple is seen yelling, pushing and hurting one another, along with stealing from convenience stores, gambling and abusing drugs and alcohol together.

In the 19th century, Tsarist Russia was in need of various significant reforms and changes. Westernizers and Slavophiles had varied points of view about how Russia should be governed and what to be done with the crumbling country. Slavophiles believed in conserving traditional Russian autocracy and Russian culture and tradition, while Westernizers sought to modernize and adopt western beliefs and systems. These two viewpoints can be generalized into two main categories; liberal and conservative. From the years 1855-1881, Alexander II led the autocracy. He was known to by many as the “great reformer”, because he emancipated the serfs and put in place many other radical reforms. After the assassination of Alexander II, his son, Alexander
The song I picked for this homework assignment is called Runaway Love by Ludacris and Mary J. Blige. The song is describing the hardships of three young girls and their struggle to survive. Finally, the girls are fed up with the lives they are forced to live and decide to pack up their things and run away. I think this song can relate to many aspects of sociology that we have learned in class. Some examples shown through the song are poverty, education, healthcare, marriage and family. All three girls’ different stories and struggles they face.
The Russian Revolutions of 1917 led to the riddance of the czarist Russia as well as the ushering in of the socialistic Russia. The first of the two revolutions forced Nicolas II to abdicate his throne to a provisional government. Lenin headed the second of the two revolutions in which he overthrew the provisional government.
From the first stanza of this song, you get put into a scene. You know almost immediately that it is about someone, and it is the middle of December, but without stating the obvious, it paints a more illustrated picture for you. The first line states, “A winters day, in a deep and dark December” and I could almost immediately feel a cool breeze around me. When I normally think of a winter’s day, I think of people playing in the snow, and having a good time. This may be because I grew up in Southern California where there has been a lack of snow, but in my head, that is what I imagine. Having them state, in a deep and dark December, turns my attitudes to the more pessimistic way of looking at things. The image of children playing in the snow in my head has now turned to cold and dark emptiness. Reinstating my idea of emptiness, the next line follows with the simply statement, “I am alone”. Personally, I hate being alone. So to have the opening words place us in a deep and dark setting, and then state that you are alone, automatically puts me in a negative mindset.
