Poetry has a way of being about any sort of situation we can come to think of. Within this essay, I will be explaining the similarities and the differences between “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Alan Poe and “Daddy” by Sylvia Path. We notice that between these poems, love and death fall hand in hand. These two poems have many similarities and the differences, but in my mind more similarities.
Within both poems, we notice that the authors are discussing how close they want to become to their loved ones, even with them being gone. An example of this is when Plath says,

Poe also wants to be close to his deceased lover especially at the end of his poem.
I believe that the difference between Plath and Poe though is the fact that they both are missing a family member or loved one, but Sylvia tends to have a sense of hatred towards her father whereas Poe has nothing but pure love for his.
