The sharing economy is an innovation of the traditional socioeconomic and cultural business model . It is revolutionizing consumer and company trends, shifting the frontier between public and private sectors . This concept can be generally defined as the practice of sharing the use, or purchase, of assets . This is an existing concept to achieve mutual benefits in business collaboration . Moreover, this concept has recently been further developed and adapted due to its increasing relevance to the changing global requirements, such as the economic and financial crisis, and the development of new technologies that allow for easier and better social interaction. These are normally private offices, workstations, and desk rentals within another business’s established office. This means a business has an established office with unused space, and thus offers to share it with another business - normally small- or medium-sized. The amenities shared are usually the conference rooms, kitchen, break room, and reception area; these normally are covered by the original business and thus are free for the renting party. However, at a shared cost, more services can be shared, such as the copying and mailing center, as well as support staff. This type of collaboration of space allows for affordable and flexible lease terms and the rent is dependent on the space being acquired along with the extra services. This concept is one that can be seen already adapted by the humanitarian environment, among the NGOs, with an example being the UNHRD which was previously explained as a collaboration that is normally applied during relief emergency projects . Therefore, the basis for a transfer from the commercial property sharing to the NGO environment will have a focus on the concept of office-sharing- collaboration through all phases, including for NGO development programs.
