Hopefully Dreaming of Attainable Goals [A] Do you ever lose hope in life, people, or yourself? [B] It may seem pointless but we need hopes, dreams, and goals. We hope and dream but the only way to achieve is by setting goals for ourselves so we can monitor our progress. [C] Goals can be big or small and you may not even realize you are making them, but even subtle goals are a big part in our lives. [D] Hopes, dreams, and goals push people to their limits to discover new and improved ways to better their lives. [E] Losing hope and getting it back is so hard, but the kids in War Dance achieved greatness even after all the misery and suffering they’d been through. Not exceeding at something helps us to push through fears and obstacles holding us back from what we are trying to achieve. [F] In the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Walter, a guy who’s never traveled anywhere and doesn’t have a whole lot going on in the romance department, gets himself into a bit of trouble and is forced a “little” out of his comfort zone. [G] Walter travels around the world in a matter of a few weeks while also gaining a girlfriend,”In order for goal to uplift and enliven us we need goals that are challenging and motivating yet still realistic”(Wilner 2). [H] Although most of us can’t be like Walter Mitty and conquer all of our fears in a couple of weeks, we can still achieve what we want by setting goals that will push us out of our comfort zone, and hopefully not off a metaphorical cliff. [I] We set goals to push ourselves as much as we can, but limits are set into place and it is important not push too hard. [J] We must also decide in which areas we are going to set our goals and which ones are more crucial. [K] Prioritizing goals is one of the most salient things to think about,” [You need to] figure out what domains of life you want to achieve goals in, and what's most important between these”(Wilner 2). [F] A prime example being George and Lennie from the book Of Mice and Men. [G] George was like a big brother to Lennie who caused many complications that interfered with their dream of perfect solitude,” Just like heaven. Ever’body wants a little piece of lan’... Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land”(Steinbeck 36). [H] In the end George and Lennie never got their piece of land but that doesn't mean their dream died. [I] Dreaming as a whole motivates people to accomplish goals and create memories that enables them to grow and mature. [J] After Lennie died George didn't give up on the dream because it in itself was the very essence of Lennie thus allowing their dream to grow into the heart of a more matured George. [K] George and Lennie creating their dream helped George fill the half of himself that was left behind when Lennie died,“Says he foun' he jus' got a little piece of a great big soul... 'cause his little piece of a soul wasn't no good 'less it was with the rest, an' was whole.”(Steinbeck).
