Maritza S. 1/21/17 StoryTeller - Poetry to Prose - The Rose that Grew from the Concrete The Rose that Grew from the Concrete Prologue In the first two chapters Rose is in the hospital. While her home was being robbed, by her bestfriend's boyfriend, Rose is in her cozy bed sleeping. Her real self is currently in surgery, and her spirit is in the bathroom deciding to live or not. Rose’s Point of View As I open my eyes, the lights burns them. I sat on the counter, reflecting about what I had to do next. My mind was almost made. I couldn’t live with the guilty of sending my best friend’s boyfriend to jail. I just couldn’t do it. The tears just kept coming. I … I can’t do this anymore. I relax causing my body slouch. I grab to get my phone …show more content…
I go wash my for any last blood. I go into my room and start to turn on the TV for any news. Then, I get a voicemail. I get my phone and listen to my voicemail. I was Clarissa, she said that Rose was not any better. They needed more O- blood, and she knew I had that same type of blood. At that moment I knew that I would look suspicious if I didn't say yes so I call her back. She doesn’t answer so I go visit her in the ER. I get to the hospital being greeted with empty seats. I stay there hoping to see her coming. As I turn around I see her wearing my sweatshirt. I smiled at the thought. Clarissa’s Point of View I go to Starbucks, ordering a hot drink, causing the cold sweat to disappear. I drive back to the hospital, hoping to be welcomed with good news. As I enter I see Matt, my heart racing as his eyes reach mine. I run to him. As I get there he embraces me into a hug, digging my face into his sweatshirt. I quickly sit up as the nurse’s and doctor's flood into the room. I look around noticing the parents outside the room. The mother's eyes full of tears. The father tried to calm down the mother without making a difference. I stand up and walk out of the room into the lobby. I don't see Clarissa, I panic because I didn't want her boyfriend near her. I turn around hoping to find her. I hen notice she is talking alone with the doctor. Her face dropped to a frown. I ran over to her and hug her. I could smell her rose perfume. I then hear the word hope. I thought I had heard that they had hope for me living. But at that exact moment I see the tear running down Clarissaś face. I don't understand. I quickly glance at the doctor's clipboard and notice the words saying bad
Not understanding what the woman was doing, Sybil watched intensely, as the woman talked to a man. It almost seemed they were having a heated conversation to one another. Suddenly, he rose a hand and struck her across the face. Sybil gasped and a sudden photo of one of her foster homes flashed back into her mind.
Alice Walker’s “Roselily”, when first read considered why she decided to use third person. Especially when the story is in such a private line of thought, but then after my second time reading the story I decided that Roselily would not be a strong enough woman to speak about the social injustices that have happened to her. One key part of the story is her new life she will be facing after she is married in Chicago, while comparing it with her old life she is leaving in Mississippi. In Chicago she will no longer have a job, but instead be a homemaker where she will be responsible for the children and home. Also, in Chicago she will become a Muslim because it is what her new husband will want her to be, but back in Mississippi she was of the Christian faith. One of the more positive outcomes of her marriage is that she will go from extreme poverty, to not having to worry about money on a day to day basis.

The imagery Rose uses really reminds me of ‘Shawshank Redemption’. The whole time there is Morgan Freeman going into more and more detail about the situation and picking out quirks about the character he is speaking about that you wouldn’t have known and things that maybe you didn’t know you wanted to know about the character. Rose gives people in his story true life, and you can really picture them and get a sense of them as a human
In Rose 's essay he gives personal examples of his own life, in this case it’s his mother who works in a diner. “I couldn 't put into words when I was growing up, but what I
(4) In this section of the story, Rose’s mother de-escalate the actions of Rose instead of losing it with her. With this Rose’s mother took the matter as a everyday thing and helped not make it more troublesome than needed be. This relates back to the main point that not everything needs to be taken seriously and to not over-react on certain
After the experience passes, Rose doesn't regret her actions. Although the reality sets in and she sees the man without rose colored glasses, she shows excitement, and joy that she had transformed in her mind, becoming a different woman in the same
The man had disappeared again, I was feeling weak and tired at this point. Why was this all happening to me? So now I was at a loss, what am I going to do about the funeral? It was stressing me out a little, because I didn’t want to disrespect the family, but that was the girl that I loved who was now dead.
All she saw was the older boy run down the stairs with clenched fists and a red face. She knew something was wrong. The older girl ran out the front crying and the boy sat down telling the younger girl to get out and stop asking if he’s okay. Minutes past and the candle was lit. She was happy even though they weren’t.
In the ever-increasing construction industry, concrete forms the basic building block. Concrete consists mainly of three raw materials apart from water. These are cement, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate. Out of these raw materials, cement and coarse aggregate can be easily manipulated to match the needs of how concrete should be made. While sand, which amounts to about 35% of the volume of concrete, is mainly obtained from natural sources like river beds, the quality and texture of sand cannot be.
Dr. Rust's Office, these three words echo throughout my head and I can't breathe. I sit in this awful discomforting place. My body shakes in terror and Suddenly I hear a soft comforting voice say my name, "Genna, Dr. Rust is ready to see you now." On the outside, I am smiling and happy, but on the inside, I scream in terror. Although I had been there and experienced that extreme pain many times before, I dreaded yet another visit to the dentist.
It’s that one day of the year again. Mom comes to pick you up early from school, having to drag you out of your seat and into the car. You pull up to an red, brick office building: The Doctor’s office. We always wonder why we have to get vaccines. We wonder why the doctor is sticking a sharp, pointy object into our arm.
I check my water jug, just in case, nadda. I run around my small room collecting the thrown about pieces of clothing and put them all on as fast as I could. I check to see if my room's door
