Museums house great works of art, fragments of history, and cultural experiences all within four walls. By visiting a museum, one can be instantly transported to another place or time. Whether that place is beautiful or grotesque, the emotions experienced are both genuine and authentic. The Orange County Museum of Art (acronymized as OCMA), located in Newport Beach, is one such structure of art and experience. Currently on display are the exhibitions of Chinese artist Shi Zhiying and “Pivotal: Highlights from the Collection” which features artists from the region that OCMA has supported throughout the years. The video opens with a scene of a forest containing a reflecting pool of water in the foreground while the sounds of nature provide background noise. Soon, a fully clothed man comes walking out from deeper in the woods. He stands on the edge of the pool for several long moments before jumping. But before his form can enter the water, he is suspended at the apex of his cannonball. The man continues to float above the pool which continues to ripple and undulate without showing the reflection of the man. It appears as though several days pass as the pool lightens and darkens intermittently. Slowly, the man begins to disappear as we see a standing form moving through the pool’s reflection. Once the suspended man has disappeared completely, another figure joins the one walking the reflection of the pool. They soon disappear as well but the single reflected figure returns to the same point where the man originally jumped in before walking off. Promptly, the man who jumped in resurfaces and climbs out of the pool. He remains facing away from the camera as he walks back from whence he came albeit naked this
