The word Qur'an literally means "reading or recitation." One directly experiences the Qur’anic revelation by reciting it. The origin of the Qur’an began with a revelation given to the Prophet Muhammad by Allah (God). More revelations continuously came throughout the course of Muhammad’s life to which all were written and compiled together to make the Qur’an. The book serves as an inspirational and religious guidance for Muslim followers as it speaks of doctrines and rules primarily conveying the Word of God. The Qur’an is the sacred book of Islam serving as a guide through practical, spiritual and religious development for Muslims around the world.

The shorter and more dramatic sura were revealed at Mecca while the longer and more legalistic sura were revealed at Median (can cite a scholarly one). It is arranged by length with the first sura being the longest and each following surah decreasing in length. It contains a few narratives, but the majority of them are important messages about Allah and the nature of humans. The most basic aspect of the Qur’an is the proof of Allah’s existence and his nature portrayed as powerful, tender and mystical (Gale 2). It is said that human nature should follow the Straight Path or divine law, leading them to reward (the straight path). Humans should honor the pact made between them and Allah, maintain trust in Allah and live by the rules of Allah. Stories of Abraham, Noah, Moses, Joseph, Jesus and others are mentioned in the Qur’an. However, some of the biblical stories differ from the Bible (the straight path). For example, the Muslims do not view Jesus as the son of God but as a great prophet like Muhammad.
The Qur’an began as a religious charter and constitution for Muslims that continues to serve as a source of inspiration and guide for followers (Gale 3). Additionally, the Qur’an has made a revolutionary impact through the cultural and intellectual activities of Muslims. …show more content…

Both books are essential in the daily lives of their believers because it teaches them how to live their lives fully and correctly, pleasing God. The Qur’an and Bible both carry out the essential themes of having the right relationship between God and human beings (Gale 3). Furthermore, they contain the principles and guides on living a perfectly spiritual life in order to reach the greatest joy of being with God in heaven. The Qur’an and Bible both consist of doctrines and laws that guides and set the rules for what is right and wrong in the choices we human beings
