“Repression will provoke rebellion.” For many years, the government and people with power has been hiding information for the benefit of society, to protect the people. Goverments and people with power all around the world have been repressing people of their rights like their freedom and the ability to team up against the government and people with power to eliminate repression. As a result, individuals and groups have been fighting like Chen Guangcheng of China and a group of scholars. Calum Mcloed, a writer for USA Today, states that China has repressed their own citizens. Chen Guangcheng, a citizen of China, has been rebelling and telling other to do the same, which has put his family and friends in danger. In addition to Guangcheng, a group of scholars have been trying to create a network that allows people to gain the privacy that is being disrupted. However, in Australia police enforcements want to access private information, but they already have enough access of one’s email, phone calls and text messages. Furthermore, the government and people with power represses a country for their benefit so they will not rebel however, it is making matters worse. In order to protect a society, people with power unethically hides information.

Repression is not only seen within a society like a group of activists, justice officials, and individuals, but also in works of literature like “The Rocking Horse Winner” and “Frankenstein.” Repression affects a society both fictional and nonfictional because certain information is hidden. Although there are some benefits to hiding information like protecting a society from the truth, in the long run it does not help anyone
