Veterinarian
Introduction:
Vets have a good sense of problem solving, and this fits my personality. I know that if I pursue this career as a Veterinarian I will enjoy working everyday. I am good at solving problems and investigating what the source of the problem is, I can apply this knowledge to helping animal’s health. I’ve always liked playing with animals and taking care of them whenever they need help. This has always been an interest to me, and it brings me joy whenever I can help the animals in any way possible. Just last week my dog was shaking and his eyes were swollen. My mom came to me first for help, she knows that I am good with dogs. I covered his eyes and put warm blankets around him, and he was back to normal in thirty minutes.

The second day of woking on the search we did research on our selected career, and looked over the job description, requirements, and the average job salaries. I learned a lot of new information about the career through reading articles that talked about the job. Day three started with searching for significant points about our career that we found interesting. I then looked over the job tasks and wrote down the ones that seemed to stand out to me. On the last day we were told to search an informational video about our topic, we wrote down fifteen notes about what we found interesting. This opened my mind to the options inside of the Veterinary …show more content…

Vet Tech has always been an option for me, helping animals is something that is very interesting. It was introduced in 1989, the AVMA officially adopted the name “Vet Tech.” In 1998, emergency vets debut on Animal Planet. And in 2008, student population grows from 500 to 700. There are about 17,000 people employed in the career field chosen. Some of the common trends of the job would be, working at Zoos, Aquariums, Boarding Kennels, and Wildlife sanctuaries. These jobs are usually found working in an animal clinic or hospitals and sometimes at farms because that is the “normal” areas for this occupation. In this career there are some general duties such as: Observe animals behavior and conditions, Provide nursing care, Bathe animals, Clip nails, groom animals hair, keep animals calm during exams or procedures. The more specific duties of the job would be to: take x-rays of animals and develop them, get utensils and prepare the animals for surgery, keep and record patient's history. Most of the clinics are open 24 hours. There is not anything that is unusual about the number of hours/nature of the job. (Bls.gov.vettech)
A vet tech can work in different work environments, such as animal hospitals, and private clinics. Working in various, environments create skillful tasks, which include: lab work, radiology, nursing care, surgery, x-rays, and assisting veterinarians in surgeries (Money Careers). Each of these tasks require their own abilities helping needy animals, for example: lab work deals with collecting samples of tissue, blood, and urine, nursing involves with taking care of the animals after the surgeries and checking on how their responding to the procedure (U.S. Bureau of Labor).
“The most successful Veterinary Technicians are passionate about the animals that they see on a daily basis and be able to control their emotions” (Career Cruising). The care of animals is very important so they don’t feel threatened by the Veterinary Technician and claw, bite, or growl at them. Veterinary Technicians must show their love of animals to the patients and their owners. many animals will feel the emotions that people give off and the animal can react to that emotion in a good or in a bad case bad. A Vet Technicians job is to be calm and not show emotions to the patient and family so the family won’t have emotional distress towards the clinic.
...animals in need. I will be able to walk in every day and be the reason an animal walks away wagging its tail, or just feeling better. I cannot wait to work alongside a veterinarian and fellow technicians or assistants. I believe that the way I feel about an animal’s welfare will make me an appropriate asset to any veterinary care team. I understand that animals have all the feelings and the emotions humans have. I wish to make a difference in an animal and he or she’s caregivers’ life. I know that as a veterinary technician it will not be easy and the recovery of an animal will not always unfortunately be successful. I will try my absolute best to aide in the well-being of any animal no matter what. I will remember what college and my instructors have taught me and I will use the skills in my career doing what I have always wanted to do--give back to animal lives.
For as long as I can remember, my childhood dream has always been wanting to become a veterinarian. While other kids were outside having fun at the playground, I was at the library reading books and learning about the different animals. However, as I matured, I realized that being a veterinarian isn’t just about caring for and assisting injured animals. Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
When it comes to being a veterinarian, there will always be opposing arguments to your own thoughts. Everyone thinks that they know best for their own animals even when you were actually the one whom completed the eight and plus years of schooling as well as gave yourself around $200,000 of debt to help their animals somewhere in the near future. Of course, it is their animal and you must respect their opinions and choices whatever those may be in the end. However, you can still guide them as best as you can and try to tell them what is best for their animal. A major controversial issue with small animals, such as cats, dogs, and other small creatures, is to vaccinate or to not vaccinate. Veterinarians should have the right to state their
Many people have lost their pets and close family members because there is no way to get the help or medical attention that the animal so desperately needed. Every day in the United States, veterinarians are working hard to save animal’s lives. People will always continue to want and to breed pets. Therefore, to help and cure all these pets, a steady stream of veterinarians will be needed for many years to come. Over the years, the requirements and processes to becoming a veterinarian have changed. To become a successful veterinarian one must complete all necessary education and on the job training, be friendly and love animals, and have a burning passion to help both the pet and the pet owner.
In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo. Naturally, as a child, I was set on a career as a veterinarian. Like most children, I was naive about the veterinary profession, but I had plenty of people to warn me about its challenges. Albeit initially discouraged from becoming a veterinarian, my search for a meaningful career not only revived my spark for veterinary medicine but also gave me the maturity and experience necessary to succeed in it.
Equine veterinarians are animal doctors who provide medical care for horses. They examine, test and occasionally operate on or euthanize the animals. Travel to ranches and farms is often necessary, and equine vets have to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions. Being an equine veterinarian is a pleasant career choice because of great interactions with varied types of horses and their owners , the basic information, and the pros and cons of an equine veterinarian.
I chose veterinary technician because I think it will suite me best; moreover later in life I can always go back to school to be a veterinarian whether then get the degree and not use it. I think veterinary technicians have important roles because the doctor will always need assistance with an animal and I would like to be on the side where I will not have to give shots or put them to sleep. Watching an animal get put to sleep is the hardest thing anyone could ever have to see or deal with. I can not be the one to put an animal to sleep it would hurt me to much no matter how much the job needed to be done. Working at the vet as a senior I have seen many gruesome things that veterinarians have to do; however the worse I have seen is the rabies observations. A rabies observation is for an animal that bit someone and depending on how bad the bite is depends on what route they choose to take. This animal had bitten someone pretty bad so they chose the route of putting it to sleep and they doctor had to cut the head off. After the animal 's head was off they stored it in the refrigerator and the next morning was sent of to a laboratory for testing on the neurological part of the brain; moreover it was the worst experience I have had while working at a veterinary clinic. That day I thought to myself I
When I was growing up and always playing with animals, I realized what I might want to do with my life. Since animals are, for the most part, vulnerable and helpless, they need someone to take care of them. For animals in need to survive and carry on, there must be a caring person willing to take time out of their day to care for these animals. This person is responsible for providing care such as feeding, cleaning, giving water and administering medication to animals in veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories or animal hospitals. This person is called a veterinary assistant (Writer).
Veterinarians provide medical services for animals that are big and small. Helping sick animals weather they are big or small. They provide medicine for house pets and farm animals. When owners take there pet to the vet they are looking for someone to provide information to them about their animal. Some of the information given to the own is about how to properly care for your animal to make sure it grows the right why. Veterinarians are there to help animals no matter the size.
Veterinarians can be employed by government agencies and the food indudtry to cater to meat and milk producers to ensure that the herd is healthy and that the product is suitable for human consumption. These veterinarians deal with many animals like ovine (sheep), poultry, porcine (swine) and bovine
Choosing a career path that is both enjoyable and sensible is crucial. By researching the necessary education, skills, daily life, job demand, salary and job satisfaction of veterinary technicians and lawyers, I am able to decide a future career. In the personal aspect of my life, I enjoy working with people and helping care for animals. This leaves me conflicted on what career path to take. By weighing factors such as education, salary and job demand, my choice is to follow the career path of a veterinary technician. Technicians earn a degree within two years, while a lawyer take seven years or beyond. By completing a two year degree, I can have a job position quickly, doing something that I love. When looking at salary, it is obvious that
In conclusion Veterinarians have to be multi talented not only do they have to get degrees and find colleges. Veterinarians also have to find jobs and know what the job pursues. Veterinarians are important to society because without a Veterinarian animals wouldn't heal or get better and many medical discoveries for animals might not be found. Without Veterinarians animals would not get better if an animal is sick.
