Process of Regeneration & What It Affects Regeneration is a process that has the ability to regrow a structure that has been damaged/amputated. Regeneration is an important thing the world for animals, humans, and more things that are affected by it. Without regeneration, crabs would suffer because they lose their legs so often, humans would be skinless, especially on their knees because that’s what gets scraped many times, children wouldn’t be able to regrow tips of accidental fingertip amputations back and flatworms would have less of a population because when they lost a head or tail they wouldn’t be able to regrow again. Regeneration doesn’t completely help humans like it does animals, humans won’t grow a head back or legs, but they do benefit a little from regeneration. Many things are affected by regeneration positively. Regeneration is the process of restoration, renewal, and regrowth. Some things can regrow off the cut off of the old piece, according to Richard Johnson Goss, “By such regeneration whole organisms may dramatically replace substantial portions of themselves when they have been cut in two, or may grow organs or appendages that have been lost. Unfortunately, humans cannot restore everything, but they can restore; skin from cuts, fingertips, and their liver. Mainly only children are lucky enough to have the process of regeneration help with growing back accidentally amputated finger tips. Fingertip restoration is possible as long as there is some nail leftover and the wound is not stitched over. The liver can grow back in humans if only part of it has surgically been removed or if it had partially been lost from chemical injury. The liver takes about 3 months to regenerate

Author Rebecca Skloot writes about Henrietta Lacks’ journey through her cervical cancer and how her cells changed the lives of millions long after her death. Skloot relates the history of cell research, including those studies which were successful and those that were not so successful. It is necessary for the author to include the achievements and disturbing practices of scientists throughout this history to inform readers and focus on the way Henrietta’s cells were used. Truth always matters to readers and Henrietta’s family deserves the truth.
Both “Regeneration” and “Journey’s End” are set during world war one, with “Regeneration” looking at the mental effects of the men removed from the war and “Journey’s End” focusing on a short period of time in a trench. Sherriff used a play when writing “Journey’s End” so that he could give a true representation of trench life rather than the dramatized version that was commonly presented when it was written in 1928. Barker used novel form when writing “Regeneration” to show us the after effects the war left on men involved; it showed us how many men were suffering with what seems like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which was an unrecognized mental disorder until 1980. However both texts are similar in that they aim to dispel common views of the war, they show people what was hidden from them and present the truth about the war from their own experiences; Barker’s granddad having served in the war and Sherriff himself serving in the trenches, so it could be argued they are both pieces of faction literature.

The debate of the existing possibility of sentient machines continues to progress, but the consideration of ethical questions such as “Should we create these artificial people?” and “How does this enactment define the soul and mind?” warranted from primitive questions about machine learning within the last century. Through the characters melancholic natures, they are unable to move foward. This inability to move toward the future is conveyed by both Selby and Welsh through lack of regeneration.

An acute wound is an injury to the skin that occurs suddenly rather than over time. It heals at a predictable and expected rate according to the normal wound healing process.
