The decision to have breast reconstruction is a personal one. Getting as much information as possible is the first step in making this decision. Knowing how this procedure is done is part of that investigative process.
There are two general types of breast reconstruction. Those that use artificial breast implants and those that use donor tissue from another part of the patient's body. The procedures for each are a bit different.
Breast Implants
The same implants used in breast augmentation surgery can be used in breast reconstruction. These implants are often the best choice in cases where all of the breast is removed (radical mastectomy). They can be done on one side or both.
A single-stage implant is done at the time of the mastectomy. Once the breast tissue is removed, the surgeon will insert

the breast implant into place, usually under the chest muscles. The implant is secured with a graft or mesh insert so it will stay in position as the wound heals. In some cases, it is not possible to insert the implant at the time of the mastectomy. There may not be enough tissue in the area for reconstruction. Or the patient may need to have radiation or chemotherapy treatments before reconstruction. In those cases, the implants are put in place a few months after the mastectomy.
If there is not enough tissue for the reconstruction, the surgeon will insert a tissue expander under the skin and gradually fill it with saline solution, causing the skin to stretch and grow. Eventually, there will be enough room for the implant. Then reconstruction surgery can proceed. The surgeon will make a small incision and insert the implant.
Donor Tissue Reconstruction
Another option for breast reconstruction is taking donor tissue from another part of the body and transplanting it to the breast area. The grafts can be taken from the abdomen, upper back, thighs, or buttocks. The grafts include the skin as well as the fat layers and blood vessels below. Some grafts will also include muscle tissue.
The graft is placed at the site of the missing breast tissue. Blood vessels are reattached and the surgeon shapes the graft to look like a natural breast.
Reconstruction using donor tissues will have two surgical sites and scars. Recovery takes a bit longer. But, they look more natural than implants. There is also no worries about implant ruptures or the need for future
replacements. If you need to have breast recontruction, it is a procedure that should be done by a qualified plasstic surgeon. Call the reconstruction experts here at Proffer Surgical Associates in Amarillo. They are board-certified surgeons with years of experience in the field.

...ves the entire breast and the nipple while leaving the pectoral muscles and axillary lymph nodes intact. This surgery has reduced the occurrence of breast cancer by 90%.
With ABC recipient site classification surgeons gain some insight in to regenerative potential of the surgical bed and can consider some modifications to help increasing of success rate of bone healing and decreasing morbidities of donor sites.
Furthermore, plastic surgery involves many different types of procedures. One common procedure is skin grafting, the transfer of skin tissue. Skin grafts are derived from either the recipient or the donor.
In transplantation surgery, the hair follicles are extracted from one part of the body and fixed to the bald regions. Hair follicles after extraction are examined under a stereoscopic dissecting microscope. These are then dissected into tiny grafts. Then, the grafts are implanted on the bald areas.
Breast lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure that helps to restore the youthful shape of sagging breasts for both smaller and larger-breasted patients. During the procedure, excess skin is removed and breast tissue reshaped to raise the breasts to a higher position and restore their firmness. If done correctly, a breast lift often produces excellent results that go a long way in boosting the self-image and confidence of the patient.

Every woman has her own reasons behind her decision to get breast implants. Some women have undergone mastectomies, and get breast implants in order to feel “normal” again. According to the National Women’s Health Network (http://www.womenshealthnetwork.org) women who have lumpectomies have the same survival rate of women who have mastectomies as a result of breast cancer. They concluded that up to 40 percent of women who were diagnosed with breast cancer underwent unnecessary mastectomies. These mastectomies, whether necessary or not may lead to women to undergo breast augmentation surgery.

To start off, you would be given some type of anesthesia, either intravenously or general. Next up, an incision is made in an area that would be hard to see to minimize the viewable scars. Where the incision occurs is based on your body, what type of implant is being used, preference of both you and the surgeon and the degree of enlargement that is being done. Next up, either a silicone or saline breast implant will be used. This implant will be inserted either under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue.
• Meniscal transplants have recently been introduced. The missing meniscal cartilage is replaced with donor tissue, which is screened and sterilised much in the same way as for other donor tissues such as for kidney transplants. These are more commonly performed in America than in the UK. • There is a new operation in which collagen meniscal implants are inserted. The implants are made from a natural substance and allow your cells to grow into it so that the missing meniscal tissue regrows.
Beauty is a huge thing in the world today. Looks are the first thing someone notices about you and it is what they judge you on. It is just how our society is today. Unfortunately, it is what the world has come to. The biggest extreme that someone can go to to enhance their natural beauty is to have plastic surgery. People are choosing to have plastic surgery due to the influence of celebrities, selfies, bullying, how important beauty is in society and the health benefits of it as well.
The field of regenerative medicine encompasses numerous strategies, including the use of materials and de novo generated cells, as well as various combinations thereof, to take the place of missing tissue, effectively replacing it both structurally and functionally, or to contribute to tissue healing[29]
But these accidents can leave people with damage to such pieces of their body that can never be healed. Cosmetic surgery gives these people a new look in life. Cosmetic surgery can sometimes be viewed in such a negative light, but in a world with so much negativity this procedure can sometimes save peoples life and give them hope in such ways as just allowing them an opportunity to continue their lives. In an article, a young girl was in a terrible accident where she was hit by a metal baseball bat only to have her face reconstructed Dr. Posnick and his team of amazing surgeons put my face back together with one surgery, a titanium metal plate and three titanium screws. He saved more than my face, he saved my life.
