Lots of novels/stories are adapted into films, and Stories/novels rely a lot on the narrator. A film takes away your visual interpretation, film also has certain limits like time and imagination. Film making cannot be the exact same as a novel, so a filmmaker must change a literary art to make it more interesting. So the different themes in Ray Bradbury’s “The Pedestrian”, are evident in the story and the film adaptation. The Short Story and film “The Pedestrian” both have some similar things in them. Such as in both the story and movie the main character Leonard Mead picks something up off the ground. So while he is out walking he decides to stop and pick up a piece of nature and examines it. This might show that Mr.Mead likes to walk for a very long time and examine items he finds lying around to learn about it. Another form of similarity is in both the story and film, Mead gets picked up by an unmanned vehicle. Mead is surprised by this because he has never seen an unmanned vehicle before. In the short story, Leonard was caught by a unmanned police car and in the film he got caught by an unmanned helicopter. The unmanned vehicles take Leonard to a research facility, but in the film he's taken by helicopter and in the story hes taken by a police car. This might demonstrate that the future will be different from present day. The story and film are also different because when he is taken a why he asks in the film if hes going to the research facility. In the film Mr.Mead asked the helicopter if he was being taken to a research facility on regressive tendencies, while in the book he was told that he was being taken there. This proves that the story was modified to be turned into a film and that the film was made shorter than the book so it would be easier to watch.
