Two boys grew up in terrible homes and experienced similar pasts, but one ends up as a talented writer and governor, and the other grows up to kill an off-duty police officer. This all occurs in “The Other Wes Moore” two boys named Wes both grew up with a terrible home life and both end up with entirely different futures. This story is based on the author, Wes Moore and another boy named Wes Moore, and how their similar backgrounds gave them an entirely different future. By writing this book, Wes encourages the reader to ponder: what choices made the other Wes Moore kill someone, or was it just moral luck? Before we answer this question, we need to get clear about what exactly moral luck is. Moral luck describes circumstances whereby a moral agent is assigned moral blame or praise for an action or its consequences despite factors contributing to their moral evaluation being out of their control. Different things such as different attachment styles and him being sent to juvenile detention play big roles in his epigenetics. I first want to explain the three different attachment styles and how they play a part in how Wes’s mind comprehends things. Next I will talk about what happened when Wes was sent into juvenile detention and how it can cause kids to become more violent and aggressive. Lastly, I want to explore epigenetics and how the different things going on around Wes cause his epigenetics to change due to the situations he got put in. After we get the general idea of each topic, we'll dive deeper into the meaning of each topic to get a better understanding of how these all apply to Wes. Using these three different ideas, we will be able to come to the conclusion whether or not the other Wes Moore killing the police officer is just moral
