Introduction
In 1943, Ingvar Kamprad who was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden founded IKEA from cash gifts he received from his father. The letters I and K were derived from his initials, and the letters E and A were derived from the place where he was raised. Hence his decision to name the store, IKEA. The store sold a variety of items such as wallets, picture frames, watches and jewelry. Essentially, the store was founded to provide whatever the needs of his customers.

IKEA conceptualizes and assembles goods and products that are designed to be practical, while at the same time possess tasteful designs and accessible at a low cost (IKEA, 2016). IKEA markets itself as a store established for the people, such that they are open to being the people 's companions for an improved life. Apparently, this is a definition from the perspective of exchanges and does not quite catch the essence of the meaning of product in the marketing discipline. In this regard, Rothschild (2009) offered a probably better definition for products as a bundle of benefits for customers. This definition also offers an important perspective for JB Hi-Fi to understand its products. Because after all, JB Hi-Fi is only a retailer and all its home theatre products are sourced from their manufacturers. If JB Hi-Fi only sees its products as the tangible parts, it may miss out the very important parts of the competition. The sources of IKEA’s successful entry into the furniture retail business were IKEA’s low prices and resilience. First, Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA, began selling furniture in his mail order company. Then he was faced with a social problem and turned it into a business opportunity. The present furniture cartel attempted to stifle Kamprad’s growth and success. The cartel banned Kamprad from selling directly to the consumer at shows, then managed to persuade the manufacturing cartel to stop supplying Kamprad with furniture.
