It is hard to be a person of leadership. Leadership plays a huge role when one is the president of the United States. One could just imagine all the stress and tension one would be put through as president. Just think of all those hard decisions that must be made for the better of the country. One will definitely need to possess leadership skills in order to be a great president. Abraham Lincoln took office as president of the United States November 6, 1860, when the United States was struggling through some difficult times. He was the 16th president of the United States. He emancipated the slave with the Emancipation Proclamation and kept the country together as a Union. The roles of the president are much like those of a manager. Our nation
Lincoln eventually opened a law practice, which just happens to be one of the foundational careers for legislative office. To add to this, Lincoln lived during a specific period of time in history (context and time), where he would eventually be summoned to the national forefront to lead the nation through a difficult crises. Abraham Lincoln would have had a good life as a small town lawyer, but the circumstances surrounding him (an emerging problem or dilemma) thrust him into a significant spotlight in history. Abraham studied law although he did not have a degree. He was a vice presidential candidate in 1856. Thanksgiving became a holiday when Abe established it in 1863. He was a loving and caring man and he was a phenomenal leader. One would think he must have come from a family with great ethical background; however he came from a poor and uneducated family. He was one of this nation’s greatest leaders and will forever be remembered by the future people of this nation. He will be forever in the history books, as he should be. When Lincoln took office he had a vision. He did an awesome job at developing strategies to produce change for his new vision. He did so trying to avoid controversy; this is something a good manager does. He communicated well with the people and tried getting them on board with his visions for the country. He had much ambition and did as he needed to. Everything this man did was what he thought was best for the country. He always did everything with the best intentions for the United States. Someone like Abraham Lincoln is needed in office today to get this country out of all the predicaments that it is in, before it is too far gone and is split up. Abraham and some of our other past president worked too hard for the nation to split. Let’s just hope this never happens.
