America has always been known as “ The Land of the Free”. American’s have so many more freedoms than any other country in the world. The freedom to believe in any religion they please (freedom of religion), say whatever they want (freedom of speech), protect themselves (the right to keep and bear arms), and women rights set America leaps and bounds ahead of many other countries.
The freedom of religion in america has always been one of the things that made it seem to stand out among the rest of civilization. It is guaranteed in our first amendment of the constitution of The United States that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” (US Const.) The beginning where “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” (US Const.) prohibits the Federal government from founding a national religion or involving itself into any religion for the benefit for one over the other. This was created by Thomas Jefferson for the purpose to create a wall of separation between the church and the state. However the “prohibiting the free exercise” (US Const.) is a somewhat of a grey area, if someone were to be apart of a religion where cannibalism is practice, their beliefs would be protected, but the practice would not. “"religious freedom" means the right to believe or not, the right to enter and exit religious communities, and the right of individuals and communities to act publicly, within due limits” (Farr).
In American there is a freedom to believe in any religion that can be thought of. From Christianity to Confucianism to even vampirism, people can believe whatever they wish and the government cannot say anything about it. In other countries this is...

The Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. Meaning, Congress cannot forbid or ban the exercises or beliefs of any religion. However, the government can in fact interfere with religions practices. This means that the government cannot prohibit the beliefs of any religion, but can intervene in certain practices.
Citizens of America can choose their religion, they can also choose what they want to say, through freedom of speech. These rights can sometimes be disrespected by others who do not have the same beliefs or opinions. For example, if a company does not want to provide service to someone based on a different belief
Sweet Land of Liberty Many Americans have different views on liberty. The definition of liberty is freedom. Martin Luther King Jr. shared his dream of liberty for all ethnic races to millions. John F. Kennedy believed free America needed to help the poor and unite nations. Lastly, Martin Luther took advantage of his freedoms and told the Catholic church all of its’ faults.
As James Madison, the fourth President of the United States said, “The religion of every man must be left to the conviction and conscience of every man, and it is right of every man to exercise it as they may dictate” (Haynes, C...
America is one word that brings the hope of freedom to many people around the world. Since the United States’ humble beginnings freedom has remained at the core of its ideologies and philosophies. People of all races, nations, and tongues have found refuge in America. The National Anthem proclaims, “…land of the free, and home of the brave” (Key, 1814). But has America been consistently a land of the free? Unfortunately freedom has not always reigned. There is a constant struggle to overcome fear and prejudice in order to provide a true land of freedom. In times of heightened tension, the masses of common people seek to find a scapegoat. Often, this scapegoat is a minority with ties to current negative events. As fear uncontrollably grows, it can cause people to allow and commit unspeakable atrocities.

The most common phrase in America today is “Home of the Free”. When America first started out in the Colonies the above quote was probably very true. As time has passed through the centuries, America has felt the need to regulate and reduce the freedom that our founding fathers had intentionally planned for us. Such things as religion, reproductive rights, Native Americans and their rights, and marriage rights are being marginalized. These rights could be considered private matters that the government shouldn’t get involved with and probably rightly so.
Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. In America there is numerous of choices that someone may make on a daily basis. If someone were allowed to make their own choices and were being told what to do; then they would not be free. When someone is allowed to speak when they want to, and say what they want; such as their opinion or view of something. Being allowed to have a right to speak is one of the most important characteristics of being an American. Thinking and stating your opinion in any predicament it a strong part in being a citizen because people in the United States are known for being able to think in their own ways. Freedom can stretch too many things such as being able to do as they please, they are not forced into doing anything that someone may want. The citizens of the United States are not made to do anything that one may not want to do; like

American freedom has always been different from the freedoms of other countries. Our freedoms are awesome in their possibilities. The Constitution allows for endless opportunity in changing times, yet preserves the most delicate of all rights. Early Americans were foreigners who appreciated the choices they had been given, choices including immigration, religion, speech, and suffrage. There are alternatives to what we know in America as freedom, but throughout the history of the world, none has come close to creating and maintaining a country of satisfied individuals.
Abraham Lincoln once said, “Those who deny freedom to the other deserve it not for themselves.” As you can see from this quote, Abraham Lincoln thought that only people who give each other freedom, truly deserve freedom in their country. The “land of the free” is a phrase used to describe the United States due to its freedom qualities. Of course it went through a lot of changes throughout the centuries. The United States is considered the “land of the free” because of its social and political struggles in early United States history.

The main conflict that American’s face is the personal freedom that America claims to have. In the first amendment it states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press…” To everyone America is a beautiful place to live; it’s a place to become a free person with the choice of any religion you would like to have. It is important that people see that this is not the case; the reality is that they actually want you to believe in god with whatever religion it is you choose to pursue. A good example of this situation would...
All American citizens – regardless of the supremacy being worshipped – are granted the right to practice their chosen religion. That is, Americans have a right to believe in and worship a god or idol of their choice. Although many Americans choose a conventionally organized denomination, there are those who choose more non-traditional spirituality, such as Scientology, Wicca or even Satanism. Despite the aversion that most people have to these non-conforming religious groups, they are granted equal freedom under the First Amendment.
