There are three main characters in this short story called “The Kiss”. Brantain, Nathalie, and Harvy are the names of the characters that take us on a short journey to show us a glimmer of their lives together and the significance of their brief interactions. Brantain is a young man who is unsure about himself and by consequence stirs little interest. In the process of courting Nathalie he learns that her attentions have already been drawn by another gentleman by the name of Harvy. Brantain sits a distance away from Nathalie and leaves little impression in the room. Except by Brantain's sheer presence, there is no other indication that anyone else is in the room besides the lovely Nathalie. Leading, thusly, to the entrance of Harvy and his swift and direct contact with Nathalie taken form of a kiss. An obvious familiar and welcomed gesture under a normal circumstance. The responses by each character is quite different from one another and gives additional insight to their personalities. Brantain's instinct is to flee the conflict immediately. His flight response lends to a weaker personality and one who is not confident to take charge of situation. Harvy's bemused state and lack of genuine remorse shows a mischievous side. Although sorry that Nathalie is upset, he is otherwise unapologetic of his actions. He shows a solid, strong personality tempered with a true remorse for upsetting Nathalie. Nathalie's reaction was of panic and dismay. Much like a spoiled child's reaction when caught doing something wrong. There was not a twinge of guilt or feeling bad for deceiving Brantain. She went into a mode of self preservation. She is finally able to confront Brantain and offer him a reasonable enough explanation for the ...

The theme of he story that I have pulled is that money can be a greater draw in marriage then attraction and desire. That often people just suck and are out for themselves with little remorse or regret. That although an instinct to be drawn to attraction and like personalities can be fulfilled, sometimes people choose a higher social status and money over emotional needs (or try to have both with two different people until they are caught).
“The Kiss” is a representation of relationships throughout time. It is a reflection of the personalities that tend to intertwine and prove that there isn't always a fairy tale ending. Although all three characters seemed contently resigned to their decisions, as a reader, you hope to hear of something more extraordinary and happy.

The type of narration, the plot’s rising action, and the overall imprint that is left on the reader, pushes this book above and beyond. Whaley creates a picture for the reader by using third- person omniscient point of view. This method helps the reader better understand the main characters. The rising action development was extremely easy to follow. The descriptions of the characters and the background information helps explained how the story was laid out. Also, the author seemed like he wanted the reader to realize the purpose of the three-way friendship. It represented how a relationship allows everyone to learn from their flaws and unwarranted decisions from other’s reactions. This book is truly unique, from the composure to the character’s
...en amongst people and made it easier to relate to. After all we all experience anger, love nervousness; many of us fear death, fear rejection. “Lips together, Teeth Apart” is more than realizing that everything must end, it is more about self exploration in the end. Each character takes a turn unveiling their insecurities, making them voulnerable to the audience. Each character is relateable in some way, at some point. Not only does McNally show that every marriage goes through a struggle, but McNally shows that every person goes through a struggle. Taking societies view on such topics like AIDS and homosexuality through Sam or the nervousness of becoming a father through John. “Lips Together, Teeth Apart” brings more to the table than one might initially believe that once the story starts to unravel, the audience becomes lost in a sea of comfort and understanding.

Effective communication is one of the most important things to maintain a happy relationship. Communication will help to create a better atmosphere and to know what are the interests, thoughts and feelings of your loved one. All romantic relationships need a lot of communications from both sides. The main factor is interpersonal communication, which couples are able to overlap environments and create a relationship. We reviewed the movie “The Breakup” and have found the concepts of Integrating, differentiating, and terminating. This movie shows how ineffective communication can dissolve a relationship. The lack of communication is the main factor why Brooke and Gary break up. This couple tends to rely on other people instead of trying to solve their problems talking to each other. They avoid talking because every time a new conflict will begin. In many of the scenes the couple creates big arguments from small issues. In this paper, we will explain the scenes of the movie that can be compared to the interpersonal communication concepts.

A relationship is usually seen between the teller of a tale and the tale that he or she decides to share. Chaucer’s pilgrim, the Merchant, uses his feelings on marriage to teach a lesson in his tale. The Wife of Bathe also relies on her life experience to tell her tale. The two relationships in the tales can then be compared.
