The Internet Finance: A booming sector in China’s economy
The Internet finance, also known as the online finance, is a new financing model that takes the advantage of the Internet or any other IP networks. In China, the dramatically growing Internet finance opens up a revolutionary means of financing other than resorting to the capital market or conventional banks. In this paper, I will firstly examine the development of Internet Finance in China through representative a Chinese company——Alibaba, to explain why this innovation has gained so much popularity. Then, I will analyze some rising problems as well as the possible solutions to them.
Generally speaking, the rapidly growing Internet finance in China is driven by two main trends. First, the mergence of Internet companies into the financial sector. Second, the transformation of financial services from tangible into online. As China’s biggest e-commerce company, Alibaba launched Yu’E Bao in June 2013. Literally translated as “leftover treasure”, Yu’E Bao is a fund management platform under Alibaba's Alipay, China's largest third-party payment platform. Yu’E Bao allows Alipay’s customers to invest their idle account balances into a money market fund managed by Tianhong Asset Management Co (Jingu 1), which is a typical form of the Internet finance. Launched less than one year ago, Alibaba’s Yu’E Bao has attracted more than 81 million investors by the end of February 2014, a figure that represents an increase of almost 20 million users within half a month. By comparison, China’s A-share market boasts about 67 million investors after 23 years of development (Moran). Alibaba’s fund currently has over $40 billion in assets under management, making it the bi...

On December 14, 2006, Cisco invested $50 million in China communications services, one of the biggest overseas strategic investors of China communications services. After becoming a shareholder of China communications services, Cisco and China communications services managed telecommunications services and new network solutions for China enterprises including IP infrastructure, digital video, 3G platform and its application. In November 2006, Cisco (China) Financing Lease Co. Cheap and efficient trading is what securities traders wanted and that is what they got. Volumes transacted saw unprecedented increases, with the average daily number of trades going through the ceiling”(1.) This attests to the idea that with the advances made in technology today, Wall street will not be able to keep up. The “nerds” of society will be able front run the stock market and make more money in seconds than anyone could ever imagine.
China has come to the forefront of the international finance scene following the East Asian financial crisis for two reasons. First, the post reform Chinese economy closely resembles the other East Asian countries. China experienced significant levels of growth led by exports, with a rapid expansion in labor-intensive exports in its early stage of development. Rapid growth was accompanied by a rapid increase in domestic savings and massive inflows of foreign capital (Perkins, 1986). The banking sector dominated financial intermediation and the ratio of non-performing loans was high. Estimates put non-performing loans at China's four leading banks at 25 per cent -- far higher than in South Korea or Thailand before they fell prey to the Asian contagion. Would China be the next victim of the crisis? (Dornbusch, 1997).

In 2000, China had yet to develop any e-commerce applications, and had only 2.1 million total internet users. Payment systems and physical delivery mechanisms to facilitate the development of e-commerce transactions were well-developed in other markets, but were simply lacking in China.
The Internet and international business is an interesting topic- discussing an area of business that will probably be around for many years and possibly centuries to come. Since its earliest days, the Internet has been a means of communication, an essential tool in almost instant communication.
The foremost challenge was the seamless promotion of the existing banking system and channels for the installation of new state-of-art IT infrastructure. In this regard, the changes made to the structure and functioning of the financial institution challenged the regulatory structure of the bank.

This paper will serve as a discussion on the topic of investment banking. In this paper the author includes various articles and thoughts that help to understand the background and principle of investment banking. This discourse will attempt to address this issue through explaining what investment banking is, introducing major investment bankers, and how investment banking affects our globally economy. I became an enthusiast of finance ever since I was at high school. At the political economy class, my teacher asked us: if you have a million RMB, how would you use it? She then introduced us the concept of investment, and I was intrigued specifically by the stock. For the latter two years of my high school, I have been reading books and articles regarding the stock market in the U.S. and in China. As one of the outstanding students ranked top 1% in College Entrance Exam in Hainan Province, China, I was accepted by the City University of Hong Kong with a full scholarship. With the strong interest in finance, I chose quantitative finance and risk management as my major.
Business today is inextricably intertwined with technology, from the smallest home office, to a multinational corporation with multiple monolithic legacy application. It is impossible to be in business today without confronting the issues of technology. The way we do business today is different than 30 years ago. Technology has evolved around the areas of telecommunication, travel, stock market, shipping even around our daily lives. E-commerce a system by which people can buy, sell and deal without even seeing the person on the other side has taken a front seat in improving the economy of countries around the world. Technology today has made it possible for monetary institutions to help locate the customers resources and help solve their problems at any given time through online banking. The Internet, a boon to all business, is playing a part of a catalyst; it links millions of customers to its suppliers and vice versa due to this, manufactures are able to cut the role of middlemen and are able to deal with the customers, giving them the ability for direct input from the customers about their choices and views of their product. The busi...
One of the fundamental factors that has affected the process of economic globalization is the improvements in the technology of transportation and communications. This has reduced the costs of transporting goods, services, and factors of production and of communicating economically useful knowledge and technology. There is no doubt that advances in information and communications technology are the most important technological advances of the past quarter century (Mussa, 2000). By far, the most important and business altering advancement is the internet. There is evidence everywhere that the internet has greatly affected international trade. The internet has opened up the world, and brought it right into everyone's home and business. In addition, technology and the internet have greatly reduced the costs of doing business. Even the smallest operation can now go global via the internet at almost no cost. However, there are still some problems that face these e-commerce activities. These problems are shot-term challenges and can be met. The key issues center around two areas:
It is a known fact that the banking industry plays a huge role in today’s society, the industry has grown rapidly of many decades and still growing.
