Ideally cosmetic surgery was considered a procedure that adults underwent, but as time goes on younger adults are becoming candidates for cosmetic surgery. The primary reason behind this younger generation turning to cosmetic surgery is because they are dissatisfied with their body, and or weight. Often young girls are teased, and as a result their self-esteem is affected. Many turn to cosmetic surgery with the hopes of making themselves acceptable in the sight of their peers. Younger generations of women who make the decision to have cosmetic surgery performed tend to want to have breast augmentations, and buttock implants. According to Discourse and Society “Cosmetic surgery needs to be seen as an important social practice because it merges the attention given to the body by an individual person with the values and priorities of the consumer society.” Younger generations are easily drawn to the hype that is presented by the media, and in turn look at themselves as imperfect, and seek to make changes to their body as a result. The advertisement of cosmetic surgery can be seen just about anywhere today. Driving down the street it is advertised on billboard ads, listening to the radio it is advertised by radio spokespersons, while surfing the net it appears in pop up ads, even social media is flooded with cosmetic surgery advertisement, and with the vast majority of those who surf the net, and use social medial on a regular basis it lures, thousands of teens on a daily basis, and increases the number of likely candidates for such …show more content…

If a patient presents who is known to be an abuser of cosmetic surgery it is the ethical duty of the physician to refuse care, and not contribute to this persons obsession with being perfect that in most cases turned into imperfect due to the number of cosmetic procedures that they have had performed. The photo shown below clearly shows how the use of how cosmetic surgery can be taken too far. It is clear that the physician(s) who performed surgery on Jocelyn Wildenstein who is also referred to as the $4 million dollar monster were clearly not adhering to any form of professionalism or ethical morals.
