The Infinity Mirror
"Tularecito" is a myth about truth. Tularicito, just a character
of that myth, is the focus for this glossed over fable. Steinbeck
draws on this form of genre to present the idea that we are all a
part of what happens to others, based upon our nature.
The image presented of Tularecito is that of a demon, an idiot
savant, a boy with a gift from God, and that gift's cost. He is a
freak, a dangerous misfit, an innocent who does not need the
constraints of reality. Tularecito is a test. The test is one of
moral caliber. It is a test of the souls of the characters who
overshadaow Tularecito.
Pancho is a man that is both holy and sinful. His purfunctory act
of church going becomes true belief as alcohol demons induce him
to halucinate a deformed boy into an outcast from hell. He looks
into his mirror and sees himself, becomes shaken, reforms.
From Pancho's employer, Franklin Gomez, we get a cold hard look
into society. We see a mother, knowing her son is to be hated and
feared, and perhaps possibly killed, cannot face killing her son
with her bare hands. She leaves the killing to exposure to the
elements, enying herself a look into Tularecito.
Franklin adopts Pancho's demon, and Tularecito transforms into a
disadvantaged who has been gifted with talent. Tularecito becomes
a man at the age of six, "The boy grew rapidly, but after the
fifth year his brain did not grow any more," To Franklin,
Tularecito is grace, and graceless. He is talented in all things
of any physical strength, and well proficient in the creation of
beauty, and an artist in the care for life of nature. The
touch of Tularecito brings beauty, and life, and love to the
world, until he becomes enraged, (should anyone endanger what
came from the touch of his hand). Franklin looked into
Tularecito's mirror and saw what Tularecito was.
A Different Mirror is the first chapter of the book “A Different Mirror” by Ronald Takaki. The chapter begins with the author, Ronald Takaki, describing an interaction with a cab driver. Takaki, an Asian-American, was asked by his cab driver what country he was from implying that because of his appearance there was little chance that Takaki was originally from America. This sets the tone for chapter indicating that some people do not share physical characteristics that are deemed “American,” but they very much are Americans.
Ronald Takaki is one of the foremost-recognized scholars of multicultural studies and holds a PhD. in American History from the University of California, Berkeley. As a professor of Ethnic Studies at the same university, he wrote A Different Mirror: a History of Multicultural America as a fantastic new telling of our nation’s history. The book narrates the composition of the many different people of the United States of America.
... frustration of their action images. For these particular genres, the crisis of action in the context of failure begets the interrelated crises of masculinity and genre. The only remaining option for addressing this triple crisis is the confirmation of genre, and therefore masculinity, through the propagation of empty genre signifiers.
Broad literature is suggestive of inhumane treatment with Native Americans and African America Slaves. In general, much of the emphasis seemed to be white dominance over other ethnicities. However, as we saw in Zinn’s “History”, this was not always the situation. In 1741 there were thousands of indentured servants, both white and black in New York City. These were not slaves and they had a right to bear arms. This belied the slave issue for all blacks. Takaki gives us a new perspective in his article, “A Different Mirror: A Conversation with Ronald Takaki". He makes a point of challenging the traditional school narrative that our country was founded by Americans of European ancestry. He advocates a multicultural approach. Virginians first brought in indentured servants from England and Ireland---a white laboring
Evil can take the form of many different things. In Frankenstein, there is really only one evil monster. The monster is Victor Frankenstein. The monster that he creates is nothing more than a misguided child abandoned and rejected by his father and the rest of the world around him. His actions are caused by Victors lack of parenting and compassion towards his son. Compassion and unconditional love is all that the monster tries to get, yet his own father neglects to even look at him in any way other than hatred and disgust. The monster is nothing more than a reflection of Victors evil. Like father like son.
The genre i have studied is musicals. A musical is a film which has musical performances from the actors to express their feelings. The films from this genre that i studied are 'Singin' In The Rain' (Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, 1952), 'Grease' (Randall Kleiser, 1978) and 'Hairspray'(Adam Shankman, 2007). I studied two characteristics of the musical genre (Breaking Into Song And Dance and The Grande Finale) that are shown in the films studied. The identifying characteristics of 'Breaking Into Song And Dance' and 'The Grande Finale" are always seen in musicals. These characteristics are expected to be in a musical by the audience and ultimately make a musical what we predict it to be, a film that expresses characters feelings through song while
Nude women have been an extremely popular muse across the globe, this has been since the beginning of art. The fascination with anatomy and the human body was of great interest during the Italian High Renaissance. Titian was an amazing Italian Renaissance artist who has created many paintings were the main subject is a Venus, a beautiful nude woman. Titans oil painting, Venus with a Mirror (Mirror Venus) created in 1555 is housed at the National Gallery of Art, in gallery twenty-three, with the accession number 1937.1.34, Venus with a Mirror is a perfect example of nude women. In addition, Titian created another oil painting that also showcases a Venus, it is the Venus of Urbino (Urbino Venus) created in 1538. These oil painting created by
Both of my older sisters had whooping cough, but they were lucky and managed to get well fairly quickly. Unfortunately, they passed it on to me and I suffered much more from it because I was a few years younger than them both.

Mad Cow disease, also called bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), is a transmissible disease in cattle, which may be spread to humans through slaughtered meat. It attacks the brain and causes a change in behavior, dementia, and eventually death. This is called the Crutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) (WebMD, n.d.). With confirmed Mad Cow disease, it is necessary to destroy (burn) all animals that may have been near the infection, the disease is marked by rapdid mental deterioration, usually within a few months, and most people laps into a coma. This disease is not curable, however, treatments focus on keeping the person as comfortable and healthy as possible.

I am writing to you that I analyze Raina Kelley’s “Beauty is Defined, and Not By You” a short article which is one of the requirement article to determine we should or should not publish to the Shorthorn. In my opinion, we should publish the Raina Kelley’s article of the body because she had expressed the main point between the difference of beauty and appearance by using logo, pathos and ethos that consider to UTA community such as relationship, employment, health, and economic. It all relates to UTA living standard. Obviously, women and teen in UTA community are likely to read about this article than men do. By reading Kelly’s article, it helps students concentrate with their knowledge skill for future employee.
We began our presentation with a global transmission activity. This activity aimed to show the global spread of the disease by trying to piece together the minimal information everyone received in order to find a so called ‘index patient’. This index patient was made to mimic the ‘index patient’ of Liu Jianlun, a Chinese doctor that treated patients with SARS before going to a wedding at the MetroPark hotel. The doctor then infected over 6 guests on his floor before succumbing to the disease. The overall goal for this activity was to show how fast and far a disease can spread, especially in the modern times. I modelled this activity after the real story, with a few adjustments made to provide some more clues. And although I used the term ‘patient zero’, this is incorrect. The patient zero came before the doctor, but even then, we are not entirely sure if that patient was the index patient, as it is can nearly impossible to link someone to the definite start of an
Feedback is performance based and the information gathered is from direct observation. Such information is aimed at changing and sustaining behaviour. Performance feedback can be also be observed by organisations by implementing various techniques such as offering training, providing development opportunities, clearly specificing job requirements and expectations and by also gathering feedback from fellow line managers about such performance related to these techniques. In doing this, the margin of error by implementing such features may be reduced. Performance feedback is typically conducted in such a way where managers have the only authority to examine the performance of their employees.
Corporate social responsibility is the commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of workforce and their family as well as the local community. It helps in forming the positive image of the company. Corporate social responsibility considers the impact of the company’s action on society. Many critics of CSR are of viewpoint that it dilutes the primary aim of business and restricts the free market goal of profit maximization. Limits the ability to compete in a global marketplace. Though critics may be right in their place but CSR gives company a chance to address social issues caused by business and allow business to be the part of the solution.
