The art in a social justice movement is used to further educate individuals while entertaining them; one example is the 1978s classic The Wiz. The Wiz was created during the Black Arts Movement to illustrate historical and political issues in the African American communities. If one watches The Wiz closely one can see the how the Scarecrow character is used to demonstrate how African American mental mislead. The Scarecrow was told over and over by the Crows he was not smart enough to get down off of “dis here pole”. The Scarecrow believed the Crows and felt he was dumb and not good enough. However, the Scarecrow was very smart, but due to years of being mental beat down he could see it. This has happened so many times in African American history. African Americans have
Director Morgan Spurlock was present all throughout the documentary Super Size Me (Morgan Spurlock, 2004.) Morgan Spurlock was the centerpiece to this puzzle of a documentary. Morgan Spurlock was included in almost every scene. The film focused on the body's reaction to consuming nothing but Mcdonald's for 30 days, and the director was involved in the whole experiment. There is no star bigger than the director in this mid 2000’s documentary, other recurring characters include his girlfriend (Alex Jamieson) and the doctors that helped him along the way. The way Morgan Spurlock conducts this documentary is very interesting, he was involved in mostly everything hands on. He interviewed people, asked doctors for questions,
The 1960 was an era of war, conflict, music, innovation, and social change; when one thinks of the 1960s, one of the first things that come to mind is the civil rights movement that peaked during this decade. The civil rights movement was a series of social movements that attempted to end racial segregation, discrimination, and all racial injustices. Non-white Americans, mainly African Americans at this time, used civil resistance and civil disobedience in order to change the government policies that discriminated against them such as segregation laws, Jim Crow laws, and the inability to vote for their nations leaders. There were two prominent leaders who had different ideas on how to obtain the same goal. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that the only way to gain equality was through peaceful demonstrations; on the other hand, Malcolm X believed that he had a right to defend himself, even if it led to violence. In 1963, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, a comic book was released about a group of mutants that tried to keep peace between their people and the humans. Thirty-seven year later a Hollywood film was made based on the comic book series. X-Men (Bryan Singer, 2000) was a box office hit that earned $157,299,717 in theaters; this movie entered the lives of thousands of Americans and people worldwide. On the surface the film is a sci-fi action story, but beneath the surface it tell the story of America’s fight for equality and justice. This modern day portrayal of X-Men is an ode to our Nation’s past struggles of equality. This is evident through the portrayal of the mutant’s struggle and experiences of injustice, the two mutant leaders, and through the laws that congress attempts to pass against them.
The Exorcist is a wonderfully crafted horror film that has withstood the test of time, as some even now cannot listen to "Tubular Bells" (my fiancé's father) without having flashbacks. Even though it was made almost half a century ago, people will still cower and groan with the movie; this is how it is still a household name to this day. I enjoy this movie tremendously and believe it to be a monumental achievement of the horror genre. My opinions of this movie are vast as this is another one of my favorite movies.
An Analysis of the Film Trailer for Disney’s Incredible’s. Film trailers are important because they whet the audience’s appetite. and encourage people to watch the film by giving them an insight into it. I will be able to do it.
More than just a simple thriller, Get Out (2017), directed by Jordan Peele, focuses on an interracial relationship between Rose Armitage (Allison Williams) and Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya). In history, there has always been a feud between white and black people, so this film raises the concept of race. Jordan Peele says: “ I was thinking of the gender and racial civil rights movements in terms of one another… In the beginning, we're in the Obama presidency and race was not supposed to be discussed. It was almost like, if you talk about race, it will appear and we're past that now. So the movie was about calling it as I was seeing it, in that regard.”
The most important thing in the world is the love of family. The Novel, The Namesake written by Jhumpa Lahiri that was later recreated into a film in 2006, displays all the important aspects of love. Both the movie and the book greatly showed the importance of love. Rather, it 's through the birth of Gogol, Ashoke dying, or with Gogol finding out about his wife affair.
I always watch Bruce almighty all the time on you-tube, on local TV channel. What I don’t like about his movie is; he wants to show power and I feel that his movie is not real to me. Nevertheless, for the sake of my lesson, I watch his movie and choose to compose my essay on his movie. For unit five that why I chose It to be my week five assignment. The Bruce Almighty featuring Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, Jennifer Aniston as Grace Connelly and Morgan Freeman as God.
There are many factors that contribute to solid relationships. In the film “Ordinary People,” after the sudden accidental death of the oldest son, Buck, the younger brother Conrad, survives, yet he’s deeply disturbed and attempts suicide. Communication can hold a relationship together, whereas the absence of communication can tear it apart. When a traumatic affair occurs, some families strengthen and battle the despair and misery together, while others become emotionally hidden and detached from one another. The latter is the case for the Jarrett family. There are several relationships displayed in the flim which illustrate either a positive or negative appearance. Strategies of conflict management could have helped their relationship. Conrad, Beth, and Calvin Jarrett engage in acts of “silence” and “violence” multiple times
In the award-winning movie Ordinary People, the Jarrett family struggles with the recent death of their son Buck. The film tells the story of how the loss of a loved one can result in the total collapse of a loving family. All of the conflicts that appear in this movie can be traced back to Maslowś hierarchy of human needs. Maslow´s theory illustrates the idea that all humans have a pyramid of needs, and that each level needs to be filled before the one above can be achieved. In all the conflicts that the Jarrett family get into, they always lack in the conflict management area. Beth Jarrett does not know how to show her emotions correctly and Conrad suffers because of this, Calvin Jarrett does not recognize the severity of the problems and

Actors include Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, and Hilary Swank. Hopefully, these are some reasons to intrigue your interest. You do not need to be a fan of boxing to enjoy Million Dollar Baby. There is a deeper meaning to this movie like realizing that one always has a place in someone’s heart.
“Life is not like a drama, life is drama” (Griffin 293). Kenneth Burke’s theory of dramatism says that life is drama. Most everything can be evaluated by using the tools of Burke’s dramatism theory. The movie that I chose to watch and analyze was Miracle. This movie is based on the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. This movie was released in 2004 to celebrate the team’s miracle. This movie portrays the drama of life perfectly. The movie is about Coach Herb Brooks, his U.S. hockey team, and their journey to the Olympics in 1980. Coach Brooks wanted to do things a little differently than they had done in the past. He didn’t want a team of All-stars to play for him in the Olympics. He wanted a team that could work together and
House of Yes is a quirky movie about a family of quite strange individuals. The story focuses on the Pascal family: Jacqueline, known as Jackie-O, recently released from a mental hospital idolizes the great Jackie Onassis Kennedy. Jackie-O’s twin brother Marty, younger brother Anthony, and their mother Mrs. Pascal. Based during Thanksgiving Day in 1983 (20 years after the assassination of President Kennedy), Jackie-O learns her brother Marty is bringing home ‘a friend’ for the holiday. She is quite overjoyed her brother is coming home, but is curious and disturbed about the friend he is bringing with him. Marty is obviously nervous and hesitant as he sits in the driveway debating about going into the house. Once inside he introduces Lesley,
To mention Harry Potter, and I’m sure everyone is familiar with that name. Harry Potter films are based on a series of books, and the last film in the eighth series was written by Joanne Rowling, who writes under the pen names J.K. Rowling. Movies are seem to more popular than book series. The reason is that some people think the books are too long and boring. Since the release of the first Harry Potter film in 2001, more people have known Harry Potter. Harry Potter series has been seventeen years in the making, which features the epic saga of childhood temptation, danger, and adventure. This film's exclusive selling point is that eminent story coming to an end. The title itself makes people want to watch the production already. The audiences
The Boss is a comical movie, I would not recommend it for kids under the age of 18. There is an immense use of vulgar language in the movie. Even kids that look to be the age of 13 are using the language of a twenty four year old woman would use. These types of movies that Melissa McCarthy are known for, like The Spy, Identity Thief, Tammy, etc. is what she is known for. If I hear that Melissa McCarthy is playing in a movie I think “I hope this movie will be just as funny as the last.” All of these movies teaches us something important something of value. This particular movie teaches us the importance of family and friends, money is not everything, business ethics, etc. These are all goods things that can be pulled from The Boss and transferred
