The mass media refers to the people and organizations that provide news and information to the public. You know that mass communication has revolutionized the modern world. The print and broadcast media not only convey information to the public, but also influence public opinion. Newspapers and magazines have long been major lines of communication and have always reached large audience. Today, the Internet takes the best of all other media and combines them into a very unique form.
Media of the United Kingdom consist of several different types of communications media: television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and Web sites. The country also has a strong music industry. The United Kingdom has a diverse range of providers, the most prominent

The print media sector is entirely regulating itself and there are no specific statutory rules regulating the print media.
Traditionally British newspapers have been divided into "quality", serious-minded newspapers (usually referred to as "broadsheets" because of their large size) and the more populist, "tabloid"varieties.
The Daily Telegraph, a centre-right broadsheet paper, is the highest-selling of the "quality" newspapers. The Guardian is a more liberal "quality" broadsheet and the Financial Times is the main business newspaper, printed on distinctive salmon-pink broadsheet paper. Trinity Mirror operates 240 local and regional newspapers in the United Kingdom, as well as national newspapers such as the Daily Mirror and the Sunday Mirror.

There are five major nationwidetelevision channels: BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5—currently transmitted by analogue and digital terrestrial, free-to-air signals with the latter three channels funded by commercial advertising. The United Kingdom now has a large number of digital terrestrial channels including a further six from the BBC, five from ITV and three from Channel 4, and one from S4C which is solely in Welsh, among a variety of

In this regard, it is notable that News Corp Australia and Fairfax titles are, on average, read each week by around ‘60 per cent and 36 per cent respectively of the newspaper reading public in Australia’ (McKnight 2012). Fairfax publishes some of the country’s most influential newspapers, including The Australian Financial Review, The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) and The Age.
It is interesting to compare the approaches of the media cover in the United States and Great Britain. In the United States exists a system of access paid to the publicity and little regulation. In the United Kingdom the paid access to electronic media strictly is prohibited, although the newspaper publicity is allowed and widely is used that's why the print media is more widely used in the UK. Also in the United Kingdom the political parties have gratuitous access to the average ones sources to make transmissions of between five and ten minutes that virtually flood the screens when the selections are coming. The political debate, so used in the United States and considered so popular in the democracies developing, never has been successful in the United Kingdom.
The debate issue it self is an impression, it is a result of thought derived from a specific sours that is most likely to be the media. . “Mass media is a term which connotes the means of a variety of media specifically designed for disseminating news and information to a large audience for a variety of r...
interest to their audience. ' The Sun', 'The Express', 'The Daily Mail'. and The Mirror are all examples of tabloid newspapers. Tabloids mostly always have various feelings towards the media. The Times - "The Times" The Independent, The Guardian, and The Daily Telegraph are all.
The papers I have chosen are "The Mirror" and "The Guardian". I am predicting that the articles in the broadsheet newspapers would be more complex and often longer. I would also have thought that broadsheets have a higher reading age. I view the broadsheets as a newspaper for more intelligent readers and for people looking for in depth reading, whereas I think that tabloid readers will be less advanced readers and be people that want a lighter read. It will be interesting to see how accurate my prediction is.
The partisan press is presented as an opinion newspaper which generally argues one political point of view or pushes the plan of the party that subsidizes the paper.1 This style is dominantly used in Great Britain. Leonard Doyle, the foreign editor at The Independent in London, feels that this is the best style of delivering news. Partisan journalism strikes at the passion and immediacy of the subjects covered in the news. The reports are based on more narrow discoveries of facts and evidence. The partisan news is very competitive which in turn creates popularity for reading the papers. Doyle says that the British are among the best informed in the world.2
...ers. Tabloids aim to mainly create emotion amongst readers, where as a broadsheets aim to inform its readers. Readers of a tabloid are normally less educated and interested in issues that affect them. On the contrary, a broadsheet reader is expected to be more educated, of a higher socio-economic group and take interest in business and international related affairs. Therefore, the layout and language change to suit the reader. The layout is similar in both papers in the sense they both use pictures and columns. However, ‘The Sun’ chooses to put the story on the front-page and presents it on a larger scale. Language is more technical in the broadsheet and has been used only to inform. ‘The Sun’ is biased towards Sarah Payne and her family and uses a less informing tone unlike broadsheets. A particular message is also apparent in ‘The Sun’. In my opinion, both types of newspapers have successfully satisfied their aims.
Overall, it is clear that there is a contrast between both of the newspapers. It could be argued that the production of newspapers is mainly to fulfil the readers expectations, for example, the readers of ‘The Sun’ expect to read a dramatic story which is why the editors select specific words and images, whereas the ‘The Guardian’ readers may prefer more of an intellectual debate (Schlesinger et all, 2010). They both tell the same story but in different ways, consequently it is up to the reader to decide which they believe or prefer.
I expect The Times will have the longest mean length of word and the sentence length and The Daily Mirror to have the shortest mean length of word and the shortest sentence length. I think that The Times will have more political articles than any of the other papers whereas The Journal will have more sport articles and The Daily Mirror will have more celebrity and entertainment news... ... middle of paper ... ... This could be because of the Journal might concentrate more on sport. I only did the word length of the political strand because of time constraints if I was to further the investigation more I would go deeper into politics and do a deep analysis on politics and a deep analysis on general news.
The newspaper industry presaged its decline after the introduction of the television and televised broadcasting in the 1950s and then after the emergence of the internet to the public in the 1990s and the 21st century with its myriad of media choices for people. Since then the readership of printed media has declined whilst digital numbers continue to climb. This is mostly due to television and the internet being able to offer immediate information to viewers and breaking news stories, in a more visually stimulating way with sound, moving images and video. Newspapers are confined to paper and ink and are not considered as ‘alive’ as these other mediums.
...l always be a market for both print media and digital media. Lets just hope that print media still has a couple more years on its life shelve before it goes completely extinct. When that happens, then they won't be a print media vs digital media war anymore.
The history of mass media can be said to have started in the ancient Greece. Philosophers, generals and politicians of the ancient Society discuss issues and spread them to the public through the use of word of mouth.
