Knowing the different types of temperaments that people can have helps to know the behaviors that they may assume when in situations. When put in different situations people will respond in different manners. Like in war, some people freeze from fear while others act. According to the X-Y theory there are two types of leaders. The theory X leader takes responsibility of most of the work and doesn’t delegate, they struggle when it comes to empowering the people who work under them, and they take marching orders from the top of the chain of command. The theory Y leader is the exact opposite; they give independence, empower, and delegate responsibilities to the people who work under them. I give them chores to do, but instead of sitting around and having them do all the work I would help them by putting away the dishes as they washed them and folding the clothes after they did the laundry. I would consider this as leading by example, a theory Y leader trait. One of my nieces has issues with her reading skills, so I took the initiative and tutored her with spelling words and we would get books from the library to read together. They would also come to me with problems and issues they had with friends or their family members. He didn 't see the importance of pushing his soldiers to be the best that they could have been. He didn 't push or challenge or even demand discipline of them in any way which led them to be viewed as failures. On paper he was considered the best option for the job but once in that position he was too close to the soldiers that were under him. This caused him to make decisions based on them rather than their objectives. Because of this lack of discipline, they lost many men which caused them to have the low morale that they did when Savage took over. Davenport wanted to give them someone to lean on instead of lead them. Savage is Theory-Y; he approached his men believing they should work with ambition and respect. Savage pushed his men to take their responsibilities back and to strive for effective work - to push themselves as far as they could go.When one of his men snuck onto a flyer, he immediately demoted him, but in learning that the soldier had shown excellent skills, Savage promoted him and allowed him to slow his skills more. Introduction According to the Oxford Dictionary, a leader is defined as “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country” (Oxford Dictionaries, 2013). Though there is a definition for what a leader is, people still have different ideas about what a leader should be and how he or she should act. There has never been a concrete idea of what a leader is; the only thing we know is that this person is the one in charge of the unit. We look at characteristics of those people we see as leaders and use those attributes to compare other people to see if they are able to be as good as, or even better than, those aforementioned leaders. We have to keep in mind that in different situations, leaders must do different tasks which indicates the need for different qualities.
Leadership can be defined as the ability of a superior to influence the behavior of a minor or group and persuade them to follow a particular course of action. A leader sets a course of action and ensures that everyone follows the action. Leading can apply to leading oneself, other individuals, groups, organizations and societies. The nature of how leading is done depends on the framework of the situation, one's point of view, and on the nature and needs of those involved. While leadership is learned, the skills and knowledge processed by the leader are influenced by their traits, such as beliefs, values, ethics, and most importantly character.
Leadership at times can be a complex topic to delve into and may appear to be a simple and graspable concept for a certain few. Leadership skills are not simply acquired through position, seniority, pay scale, or the amount of titles an individual holds but is a characteristic acquired or is an innate trait for the fortunate few who possess it. Leadership can be misconstrued with management; a manager “manages” the daily operations of a company’s work while a leader envisions, influences, and empowers the individuals around them.
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. When I came on to the staff to Pioneer, there was only one resident assistant that was returning, This was Alli Ovits. In my own experience leadership is not just about one person telling others what to do; it’s about more than just giving orders. It is about getting a group of people to work together towards a common goal with more than just the goal in mind. In today’s culture psychologist, sociologist, and scientist investigate several types of personalities. Personality is the pattern of behavior, though process, emotions, and reactions to the people that surround us on daily basis. Several test have been developed for testing personalities. Some test can be simple and short while others lengthy and complicated. Scholars demonstrated knowledge about personalities looking back many thousands of years. The Greeks published a well documented history in profiling people according to personality traits. Two interesting character personalities are conformist type personality and manipulative type personality.

Leadership is defined as ‘the process in which an individual influences the group of individuals to attain a common goal’. The goal is achieved by cooperation, communication and cohesive behaviour. A leader is someone who stands for his cause and takes responsibility, but can also motivate others to do the same. There is a clear difference between being a boss and a leader. I like the fact that the teacher pointed out that leadership can be found everywhere. Leaders don't necessarily exist only in a company where there are a lot of people following you. “Everyone has the potential and possibility to be a leader”. They could be the best at inspiring others, or best at solving problems or dealing with criticism. By and large we all have the necessities to lead and I find, during the group discussions, that the difference and uniqueness of us that give us our own perspective to view and do things.
