“Social interaction refers to any relationship between two or more individuals. It is the result of the environment where this relationship takes place and it has an impact on people’s behavior.” (Holster, 2016) Social interaction exists everywhere in the world. And with the advanced technology, the ways we interact with others are changing rapidly. In the past decade, technology brings huge impacts on social interaction. From phone call to facetime, from blog to Facebook. Each mediums of communication have its pros and cons while each person has her own communicating habits too. To me, purpose of the interaction is the most important considering factor. For example, are we informing, requesting or apologizing? I would choose the most effective medium of communication depending on different situations, For example, if I are going to inform somebody about the details of an events (time, date, venue), I use messages as the details can be clearly listed without any human errors like mishearing or misunderstanding. We can also check the information again through conversation record if we forget it, so it prevents other from forgetting where and when they should go; but if someone is asking me for advices on a problem she met in daily life, I would prefer phone calls so that I can feel her emotion more accurately not only through words but also through tones. Choosing the right communication method is very significant as it helps us to deliver message clearly in an appropriate tone and communicate in the best way to attain our …show more content…
Like how closed you and the person you are communicating with are and what is your relationship with this person. For instance, we always use emails to communicate with professors. Some professors did provide their phone numbers to students, but no students are using it because it might cause an inconvenience or disturbance to the professors. Unless there is an emergency, email is always the best way to communicate in a teacher-student relationship. I also got some friends that I only communication with them through Facebook because we are not very closed. We don’t even have each other’s contact information other than Facebook. The reason of doing this is to keep a certain distance to people that we don’t know too much and protect our privacy while communicating with them. Not only for yourself as others might want to keep a certain distance from you too when they first meet you. And Facebook creates a perfect platform for me to do
From walkmans to CD players to iPods, technology has evolved over the succession of the years; humans have taken extensive steps towards a technological transformation that has revolutionized the manner in which several individuals communicate with one another. Likewise, various humans have opted for more modern methods to connect and contact their loved ones such as speaking on a cell phone, video chatting, e-mailing, instant messaging, and conversing through social media. With these contemporary methods of communication, global interaction has now been facilitated and easily accessible; conversing with individuals from across the world is as transparent and prompt as speaking with individuals within the same city. Nonetheless, these technological
People have the fundamental desire to maintain strong connections with others. Through logic and reasoning, Sherry states, “But what do we have, now that we have what we say we want, now that we have what technology makes easy?”(Turkle). Face to face conversations are now mundane because of the accessibility to interact at our fingertips, at free will through text, phone calls and social media. Belonging, the very essence of a relationship has now become trivial.
Archetypes are defined as “the original pattern or model of which all things of the same type are representations or copies”. (Webster) In The Sound of Waves Yukio Mishima develops archetypal characters that interact with one another to develop the allegorical nature of his novel. The novel The Sound of Waves was published in 1984. Before there can be a deeper understanding of this text and it’s allegorical nature it is necessary to know who and what are the archetypal characters in this novel. First, the major characters need to be known. Then, the minor characters that enhance the plot need to be analyzed. Next, there needs to be an understanding of why archetypal characters tend to interact in a certain way. Finally, we should be able to come to a deeper understanding of the text because: we know whom the archetypal characters are and why they tend to interact with one another in a certain fashion.
The interactionalism perspective is present in social networking as the basis of social networking is to communication with other individuals whether in a group through a mass posting that anyone on your friend list can reply to. Also one can have one-on-one non-physical interactions through social networking and make this type of interaction common globally and now affords an instant interaction in society. There are some individuals that believe interactions done through social networking takes all the personal and emotional aspects of communication or one-on-one interactions. However, many people today prefer to interact using social networking as it is easier to communication with others without leaving the confines of one’s home, office or personal space. Technology of today has evolved and advanced many forms of social networking that eliminates the old versions of communication. Subsequently, social networking does take away from the interpersonal and formal communication of visibly being able to see the verbal and non-verbal expression of those one interacts
Social interaction is the very basis of social life and the foundation of society. Further growth and progress in society would not be possible without interactions between individuals. However, the presence of an individual as a function of society does not bind them into a social unit. It is when a group of people cooperate that allows society to develop. Therefore, interaction is the very essence of social process. Furthermore, communication is the medium of interaction. The ability to communicate with other individuals is an important element of human life in terms of interacting and developing our society. Individuals thrive from success through the approval of others. In communication, an individual develops from the views and opinions of another person. It is important to consider that as a result of society's development, our system of communication also changed. While maintaining the traditional way of communicating such as physical interactions, individuals turn to other forms of socializing through the use of video games and the internet.
“We barely have time to pause and reflect these days on how far communicating through technology has progressed. Without even taking a deep breath, we’ve transitioned from email to chat to blogs to social networks and more recently to twitter” (Alan 2007). Communicating with technology has changed in many different ways. We usually “get in touch” with people through technology rather than speaking with them face to face. The most popular way people discuss things, with another individual, is through our phones. Phones have been around way before I was born in 1996, but throughout the years, they have developed a phone called a “smart phone”. The smart phone has all kinds of new things that we can use to socialize with our peers. On these new phones, we can connect with our friends or family on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Technology has also developed Skype, a place you can talk with people on the computer with instant voice and video for hours. The new communication changes have changed drastically from the new advances made in technology through our smart phones, social networking sites, and Skype.
How much can technology impact your social life? Who would of thought that technology would affect life in such a major way? Little did people know that technology can impact the way humans interact with each other. While listening to music and playing games on their mobile devices, how many people actually get to know one another while standing right next to each other? A small ride on a metro or bus ride will show you just how little interaction goes on in a humans life do to the amount of use on their mobile devices. The role technology plays in socializing has a great impact on people’s interaction. People can be standing right next to each other with out saying one word to one another. While waiting for the next class to start or even during the class, people tune out the rest of the world and this can lead up to social isolation. Technology has had a bad impact on the way humans socialize because it causes people to be less interactive. Social isolation is a health condition that can become very severe and lead up to depression, anxiety, despair and many other things. Social isolation can be avoided if technology is limited to use at only appropriate times as when bored, alone or incase of an emergency you would use cell phones.
Social interaction is defined as the process by which people act and react in relation to others (Macionis 583). Symbolic Interaction Theory is a micro-level orientation, a close up focus on social interaction in specific situations. Social construction of reality, the foundation of the symbolic-interaction theory, is the process by which people creatively shape reality through social interaction. Quite a bit of reality remains unclear I everyone’s mind, so we present ourselves in terms that suit the setting and our purposes, we try to guide what happens next, and as others do the same, reality takes shape. Reality then is a product of social

Communication is used to interact with other individuals. There are a variety of ways of how people can communicate with one another. I would say in this day in age, the two most popular forms of communication would be face to face and virtual interaction. Face to Face interaction is when we are in real life and communicating. Virtual interaction is through a computer-generated source helping people communicate virtually.
In recent years, technology has become the most used and preferred way of communicating, extending across many platforms. All of these programs, such as e-mail, instant messaging, social networking websites in conjunction with text messaging and the ability to access all of these entities on the go, have come into fruition based on the immense and widely found growth made in technological advancements that have occurred in our society. With this, a massive change has developed in regards to referencing how we as humans engage in communication. Socialization is the process of passing down norms, customs, and ideologies that are important to the society by the previous generations to the younger generations. The social media is one of the most common means of communication and pretty much of knowing anything and everything around the world these days, and it is growing very rapidly. It changes and affects each person in a different way, or ways. Some may argue that social media has a bad influence on children and young adults, while most people see that the social media has a more positive effect on them than a negative one. Social media is basically the new way of keeping in touch with everything and everyone, and of even strengthening bonds between each other.
