I love to make personal connections with everyone that I meet; even if I do not share the same passions as another person, I try to build an interest in their passions. When attending fish camp this past year I would have wanted to make deeper connections with the counselors; however, I felt that I did not establish a connection with many of my counselors. Instead as a counselor, I will make every effort to talk to the freshmen in my camp one on one and in small groups to find an interest or passion of theirs and try to learn more about it and what drives their interest. I plan to keep in touch with the freshmen throughout the remainder of the summer and especially as they work their way through the transition to a new school and atmosphere.
I will create a weekly or biweekly coffee date with the incoming freshmen throughout the first semester, and longer if they choose, to truly get to know why they are passionate about their interest. I also plan to create an email chain to send weekly life updates to all the freshmen and will encourage them to send their “highs” and “lows” of the week. I believe this will allow the freshmen to feel very comfortable speaking about their lives with me; along with the weekly/bi-weekly coffee dates speaking about our passions. My end goal is for the freshmen to feel that they can come to me to tell me about an experience (amazing or unfortunate) because they see me as a great friend who truly cares about them. I also desire to receive an invitation to their Ring Days because we have maintained such an amazing and deep friendship.
The paper will focus on the story that was later adapted into the film Antwone Fisher. Finding Fish depicts the life story of Antwone Fisher, a man who rose above his painful past to beat the odds. The purpose of this paper is to apply the strengths perspective and systems perspective to Finding Fish. Another outcome will be to identify and apply biopsychosocial, sociocultural, and social change theories to the situations in the book Finding Fish.

In the book, Your Inner Fish, by Neil Shubin he presents the notion of evolution and how we can trace parts that make up the human body back to jellyfish, worms, and even fish. The book not only discusses how we arose to be what we are today, but also the implications our ancestors had on our current body plan. In this essay, I will demonstrate that I have digested the entirety of Shubin’s book by convincing you (dear reader) that everything in our bodies is based on simple changes to already existing systems. To make this case, I will use the evidence of limb development in a vast array of organisms, the four arches found in the embryological stage of development, the structures inside our noses, and how our ears have come about all due to modifications.
In the book titled Finding fish: a memoir, the author addresses the need of our society’s neglected children to find love, safety and protection. Many children like Antwone are subjected to different types of abuse such as: physical, emotional and sexual. Foster care was an option for Antwone. Foster care is the placement for children outside the custody of their parents or legal guardians after court finding that the children have been abused or neglected. The court may also find the child to be a person in need of supervision or have committed delinquent acts. The foster care is a social service system with many component parts and complex interrelationships between those parts (Downs, Moore and McFadden, 2009, p.274).
Knightsville, South Carolina’s Lowcountry Fish Camp offers fresh, sustainable seafood to diners looking for simple food in an unpretentious setting. Lowcountry Fish Camp offers a wide range of local delicacies, including po-boys, hushpuppies, crab cakes, and grits. Specialties include shrimp, oysters, flounder, and catfish. There is also higher-end fare such as pasta and even some non-seafood southern delicacies like fried duck and blackened pork chops. Sides include fried okra, macaroni and cheese (a special house recipe), and dishes with names like Auntie B’s coleslaw and Mama Gina’s rice and beans. Even if no one knows who Auntie B and Mama Gina are, the fact that the dishes are named for family members gives the diner a sense that he or she is being welcomed
I have been fishing the lakes and rivers of the southeastern United States for most of my life and for most of that time I have been pursuing the common carp. But about 15 years ago I started catching these strange new fish occasionally when I was carp fishing. I can remember as if it were yesterday the first time I landed this stunning silver giant, and I had not a clue what it was. At the end of that session I rushed home and began looking thru every book I had on fresh water fishes. Finally, I found a picture of a fish that I believed was the same one I had caught. It was a White Amur or as it is more commonly known, grass carp.

Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin evoked many thoughts about evolution and humanity. My favorite chapter from the book was Chapter 11: The Meaning of It All. This chapter tied everything that Shubin had taught and explained to the reader about differences and the overwhelming similarities between different species of organisms. He went on to explain that many of the diseases or problems that appear in the human species are caused by our evolutionary history and would explain where these occurrences came from. An example of this is the phenomenon of hiccups that come from our relation to tadpoles. Tadpoles use this mechanism to breath without getting water in their lungs, but in mammals, this creates the annoyance of having the hiccups. Another

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature the Channel Catfish is neither endangered nor at risk of being endangered. The Channel Catfish is raised at fish farms and is a very popular fish in regards to food. The Channel Catfish is the third most desired fish to catch in Texas behind the bass and crappie. The Channel Catfish is the most common catfish in North America. Studies taking place in Iowa have shown that the weight of catfish per mile of streams is anywhere between five hundred and five thousand pounds.

I have attended the Whitefish School District since my first day of Kindergarten and throughout that time I have been fortunate enough to experience the PTA’s generosity on many occasions. One of the first times I remember the PTA having an effect on my education was in elementary school when they sponsored Arts in April. This was one of the highlights of my Muldown career as it gave me the opportunity to explore many different art forms that I likely wouldn’t have ever been able to experience on my own. As I continued on in the Whitefish School District, I have had countless in and out of class learning experiences that wouldn’t have been possible with a PTA teacher grant. One of the most recent was being able to use glass blowing tools purchased
The Fish Philosophy is about making other people feel good and about having a positive outlook on any task you are asked to do. I can apply these concepts at my job by asking people how they are doing and even asking them how their family is. At my first job, Benchmark Physical Therapy I can ask how the patients are doing and if they are in pain or not. I can go out of my way to help my coworkers when I see them busy with patients by cleaning the showers or the pools for them. I can also say thank you whenever they help me with any task. I can joke around with them and not make it only about doing work. We can play around when we have free time and talk to each other about our personal lives or just have fun. At Justice I can go beyond and
Many people only communicate with friends and acquaintances that they see every day. This means that often many people only talk to co-workers or fellow students. Even those that attend a place of worship or participate in a sport or hobby still limit the amount of people they include in their conversations. This often limits social circles and activities that a person is active in. While volunteering, someone may meet up to as many as twenty or more people in less than an hour. Participating in a small talk with a stranger that shares the same interests and is working towards the same cause might turn out to end up being more than just a conversation. The conversation may lead to a friendship. A fun way to bond with already existing friends and family may be to bring them along on project. Friends and relatives get to partake in the activity while realizing how eye opening everything can be. “One of the best ways to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships is to commit to a shared activity together.” (Saisan, Smith, and Kemp) A volunteer can also help improve their already existing rela...
When life is perfect there is this feeling of overwhelming smiles. Like I want to scream or yell just because my life is so incredibly perfect. I felt this way the summer of 2002 at Lutherdale Bible Camp. But what is weird is that I don't know what makes it so perfect. Like what is the real difference from here to there? There I have this feeling of being so incredibly close to everything. As opposed to being to being in the real world, hearing and seeing what really goes on. When I was at camp I feel like I am really special. Like people wanted me to be there, and want to get to know me and just want to be around me. Of course I have plenty of friends and family at my house, but the people there are somewhat different. They make it seem like I am important.
