When I worked for The Home Depot we had a lot of walk and talk meetings. Most of are communication with managers or department head were done on the way to do something else. These meetings where limited to only a handful of participants and there should still be a purpose for the meetings to not waste people’s time. The most unique meetings I have ever attended were The Home Depot’s store meetings. We would take the main lumber aisle, uses upside down Home Depot buckets and 6”x8’ pieces of lumber to make benches, for the stage we would use a medium sized store ladder. This was a great work out because we had to set up the benches before the meeting and put it all back after. I found these meetings to have great team building benefits as well.
Home Depot is the brainchild of Bernard Marcus and Arthur Blank and came about after both men lost their job in the home improvement industry in 1978 (Parnell, 2014). Home Depot has acquired several smaller home improvement stores in both the U.S. and abroad through the years which enabled it to position itself as the world’s largest home improvement chain (Parnell, 2014). Home Depot focuses on the do-it-yourself segment of the market and sells sells tools, construction products and services. Marketing is a strong point for the company. They are able to maintain a competitive advantage by keeping themselves available to their customers at all times. Home Depot has been using both online and offline marketing efforts. The internet has become a very useful tool for the company and part of the reason that they are leading the market in DIY stores. Home Depot currently provides DIY videos on YouTube and Vine that cover current topics that consumers are likely to be interested in. They also have social media pages on Facebook and Twitter, where they have a huge following. They provide online communities where actual employees answer consumer’s questions and provide assistance on
The Home Depot learned the hard way that you must hire a leader that will stay true to the core values. The leader’s ethics and values will play a huge role in determining if the company will succeed or fail. The founders of The Home Depot built a culture on the foundation of respect, integrity, and compassion. The culture and customer service under the influence of the admired founders prospered.
the challenge is to find a way to get into the meeting, as opposed to pointlessly sitting

This meeting is critical, as it is intended to provide a foundation where synergy is influenced and encouraged, which in turn encourages the groundwork for expressing ideas, strategies, and creativity, and will aid in determining the company’s forward direction. Although, her pre-concerns are focused on how she would manage this meeting and maintain her leadership duties, her focus has now shifted to how she will be able to offer any assistance and how this meeting will still take place in her
Once Home Depot’s marketing plan contains a thorough description of the scissor lift, it will then focus on the branding, pricing, and distribution of the lift. The plan will also need to include a product branding and pricing strategy, as well as examine how the pricing strategy supports the branding strategy. In addition, Home Depot will prepare a distribution channel analysis from which it will create a distribution strategy, determine whether the company is going to use a push or a pull strategy, and how the distribution strategy fits the product.
Today I worked with Jared out in the Cropsey Home Depot. Our original game plan today was to focus on set integrity, until we noticed Dewalt was having a Demo event in the store. The gloves were thrown down, and the game was on. We held a Ridgid Demo and interacted with every customer that walked in the tool coral, and converted every customer over to R2. At the end of the day Dewalt sold $0, while our demo generated over $3,100 in sales! We promoted the demo through social media, via twitter, and received multiple likes and retweets. We also gained 5 Ridgid Contacts to help jump start Jared R2 CRM list, and PK'd his Pro Desk on New Ridgid Product, Hyperdrive, and Promos.
From the beginning, our team worked collectively attempting to understand our industry, our competition, and how best to go to market with our brand and products. We focused on key areas of growth and product development. I felt we were able to really work well as a team, communicate with each other and express ideas and concerns openly without hesitation or fear. I do feel that we feel short on the communication piece though when things are being done outside of the classroom or work environment. Sometimes it seems as almost an out of sight out of mind type of situation. Our group didn’t not fight about a controlling interest when it came to decisions, primarily they were made by one of two members or what I would
I chose to represent the major in the “Island Cruise”-role play. Taking part at that play made me realize that there are several aspects that you should keep in mind before attending a meeting, e.g. and amongst others “be prepared”, “listen”, “share common goals” and “keep your emotions out”.

Straighten Communication: Usually people start off or become afraid to speak to senior management, but with managers who walk around the office they may feel more comfortable speaking to them. As a manager you don’t always know what people think; therefore, if an informal discussion takes place about work, pastimes or anything else that comes up the coworkers would feel more comfortable speaking to managers when they have questions, concerns, what can be improved or new ideas for the company.
By doing this, I get sensible options, well-spoken opinions, logical suggestions and sound recommendations to solve the issues in my way to attaining my occupational goals. I remember, once I was stuck with an issue while sketching out sales strategies. By involving my team associates, I got the solutions and found positive results by applying their plans and schemes. In the scenario of this situation I learned that being a leader is not just ordering or getting served but provoking others to take active part in suggesting innovative ideas is also a good approach to work wonders in the professional set up (Northouse,
When I’m in meetings at work, I like to think outside of the box and come up with new ideas that can help the company and the employees. “Innovative work behavior is generating and application of new ideas, processes and methods at workplace” (West and Farr 1990). Creating new ideas and making sure they are applied are beneficial to any company. "Quite good and complete

I do not understand different group purposes nor am I able to design appropriate meeting processes accordingly. I think I need to research and observe how other meetings processes work. I only have experience working with the 4-H meeting process. I have ran meetings using this process but do not have the experience for a less formal process. I believe looking at how others run meetings will be helpful. Overall, each experience will enhance my
