Southern California is a troubling land of confusion home to the famed city of Hollywood. Mountains of debt, a stagnant economy, constant fires, and an unreliable water supply create the perfect environment for the most well-known and looked up to people of the United States to lecture their fellow citizens on the very thing they, themselves, are guilty of. Issues such as equality, immigration, sexual assault, climate change, and gun control are all topics that are widely discussed throughout America, but those most responsible for these issues are the ones blaming the common citizen. Hollywood has crafted many pieces of entertainment that are enjoyable and full of quality content. Each individual has a right to voice his or her opinion. Celebrities such as actors and actresses constantly lecture the citizens of the United States on political and social issues of today’s society. Because of their loud personalities, they seem to believe that America wants to listen to their opinion. The voices of Hollywood declare they are standing up for the common individual and giving a voice to those who do not have one. The truth is, they are nothing like the majority of U.S. citizens, and should not act like they are. Their lifestyle and perception of the world is completely different from most people. Most people do not hold award ceremonies congratulating themselves while wearing outrageously expensive dresses and receiving goodie bags that equal a year’s salary of a typical American worker. Most people do not criticize the human rights given to them. Perhaps people need to stop enabling Hollywood and entitling them to act in such a manner. Double standards of Hollywood.
