Two guys or girls fall in love with each other, then realize that they can’t marry each other. The couple will have to spend more money to go to a different country just to get married. If all states in the US legalized gay marriage then the couple would be spending not as much money and their marriage would be legal. Gay marriage is a worthwhile venture in the US because gay have less marital division, their union should be protected by the constitution, and they are excellent parents. “On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that gay marriage is a right protected by the US Constitution in all 50 states. Same-sex marriage was already legal in 37 states. US public opinion had shifted significantly over the years, from 27% approval of gay marriage in 1996 to 60% in 2015” (Silver). …show more content…

When gay couples adopt kids, researchers say that the kids score 6% higher on standardized test. The kids also have fewer social problems if they are raised by same- sex parents. The kids also adapt better to the world. Researchers also say that they are trying to get same-sex couples to adopt the kids because they make excellent parents. “University of Melbourne study showed that children raised by same-sex parents score about six percent higher than the general population on measures of general health and family cohesion” (Bever).

In 2003, only 21% of same-sex couples got divorced. In 2016 50% of different- sex couples got a divorced. Researchers say that same-sex couples stay together much longer than different- sex couples.
