“ As Abraham Lincoln would say, ‘Those who deny freedom to others deserves it not for themselves’.” Something that would hold little meaning to those politician who do not agree to freedom being something you are born with, but more of a privilege if anything. With the arrival of President Trump and his bills, the current populace of the United States are being divided on whether or not every individuals has the right to their own freedom. Something the government has been trying to limit by giving in hopes that you take the protection it grants. “ But as Benjamin Franklin said, ‘Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one’.” As this happens, we are coming closer to becoming a fully operational police
state, run by a few wealthy individuals who only care about their own well being and money they make through abusing the system that this country was founded by. The state of our Freedom is nothing but a tool for these individuals. Barton Gellman of Washington Post writes, “These changes didn’t just happen. Wealthy individuals and corporations made it happen – and they’re still at it. Meanwhile, Corporate America’s wholesale theft of your individual liberties has been rebranded as a fight for … the corporation’s individual liberty.” With President Obama out and President Trump in, these issues are being further invested on. The difference in wealth is becoming increasingly scarce, with the wealthier getting breaks, while middle and lower class are getting none. President Trump is destroying the progress made by Obama to change that and it affects the people of the United States.
Some people talk about social freedom or personal independence, others may define it as a religious freedom. Once, Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed in for them to do the same.”
Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. In America there is numerous of choices that someone may make on a daily basis. If someone were allowed to make their own choices and were being told what to do; then they would not be free. When someone is allowed to speak when they want to, and say what they want; such as their opinion or view of something. Being allowed to have a right to speak is one of the most important characteristics of being an American. Thinking and stating your opinion in any predicament it a strong part in being a citizen because people in the United States are known for being able to think in their own ways. Freedom can stretch too many things such as being able to do as they please, they are not forced into doing anything that someone may want. We have a lot of freedom and rights in America that sometimes take for granted. I think that these are just a few of the important rights that we have in America. Freedom of speech, free education, and freedom of religion are three of the greatest things that Americans have and could sometimes take for granted if we are not careful.
The United States' democratic system embraces its numerous obligations in a manner which promotes a comfortable and effective society in which the citizens may embark on everyday life knowing that the government is continually engrossed in performi ng its duties to protect and support the rights of the people. Although suicide is illegal, the government must recognize the trauma of those who are terminally ill in order to maintain a fair and equal democracy. By weighing these ideas and recognizing the dignity of an individual along with the law, government attempts to provide a suitable life for all. Through combined efforts of freedom of expression and censorship, liberty is maintained, because both the speaker's and the listener's rights are re spected. The government recognizes that all human life is precious; and, therefore it does its best to enable each individual the ability to gain their desired position in life throug the help of social services. A position not necessarily of vast wealt h, but one in which a person may feel content and gratified. Jefferson envisioned such cases as above long before they were contemplated; it is through the Declaration of Independence in 1776, he reflected his strong, intellectual beliefs (Jeffers on 615). Of the most important part of Jefferson's philosophy is the following quote:
This well-known statement truly incorporates all facets of what it means to be free in America. The citizens of this country have the right to live. They have the right to be free of restriction and control, to do what they please. And they have the right to be happy in whatever way that might be. These rights are so basic, yet so vital.... ...
Everyday we complain about freedom. Do we have freedom? Is America a free country? This question floats around the world everyday. often times we want the freedom to decide how to live our own lives. We don’t want people telling us what to do, how to live, what to eat, what to wear, what to dress like and what religion we need to be a part of. But ultimately independence and freedom requires us to take personal responsibility for our actions. This means that we can’t do something and blame it on someone else like we often do. We have to own up to our actions and take responsibility.

The first amendment of the United States constitution protects our freedom of expression from government interference, which is exactly what we are currently up against. Unfortunately, like many other things in this country, freedom is becoming a questionable illusion. With the development of digital technologies, the government’s scope has become much wider, intruding every possible aspect of our lives. Many Americans are fully aware that they are being recorded in public places for the intention to protect against, and eliminate crime. Take for example, cameras to record our vehicle movements to ensure that we are driving at a reasonable speed, in compliance with the New York State Law. That appears completely harmless and beneficial to our own well-being. Now, imagine sitting at your computer unknowing to the fact that the FBI has turned on and is observing you through your webcam. The National Security Agency has a specialized tool, better known as GUMFISH that indeed, has access to taking photos
Freedom – it is one of the most essential, ever-present, and controversial themes in both literature, and throughout the world. Every day we exercise our freedoms without giving a thought as to how lucky we are to have the freedoms that we do. So what is freedom really? Equality, rights, democracy . . . these are all ideas that come to mind. But what are the essential principles of true freedom? True freedom is constituted by safety, the ability to freely express oneself, and the right to live without oppression from government.
Freedom should be given for various reasons. No one in America should have to demand freedom.The constitution says that we have equal rights just as much as whites.It is not fair that blacks should have to fight for their freedom,and whites just live in peace. America was supposed to be created a free country where everyone have free rights but instead African Americans were made slaves. America was supposed to be a place where no one is judged by their race or skin color.Therefore freedom should be given.
Freedom can be viewed in a negative or positive light. For Locke, freedom is a good and natural characteristic of people that is defined through labor. He classifies it into two categories: natural liberty and social liberty. Natural liberty is a key component of society that designates rights to people that the commonwealth cannot take away and that everyone is subject to. In a state of nature, natural liberties give citizens the right to cause harm to another if their own preservation is in harm’s way. Whereas social liberty is a governing agreement established by consent between the commonwealth and the people that protects citizens from others inflicting unjust harm on another.
Our country is an independent country that has many features and flaws, but we all just have to live with them. There are many things that other countries think America is all about. Some main things I see; hillbillies, beer, junk food, and fat people. That may be the case with some people, but that is not what being an American is all about. There are many things that this country has to offer for us. Maybe these are just stereo types, but most of them are offensive. There are three main things that come when you are American. Those three things come with having freedom, individuality, and our given Rights.
Freedom is one of our most precious resources. People are either born into freedom, or fight to gain it. We’ve seen it many times before, with women’s suffrage and abolitionists. This time it’s for India’s independence. We ask you, the United States, to help us achieve our goal of freedom. We need the U.S support for our freedom from the tyrannical rule of the British and help us gain rights that you gained from Britain a long time ago.
No Freedom in The Land of the Free The United States of America, known as the land of the free. Where all are free to do as they please, with consequences to illegal acts obviously. But is this the land of the free? A land where people are being “protected” and “secured” at the cost of their freedom. This is no longer the land of the free. This is not the America it once was. We are no longer free. This nation seems to be not just under God, but under surveillance. Those that have said over and over that all are free, are the same people constantly monitoring and watching. The government says that security is for the people’s benefit, but in order to have security they need to give up “some” of their freedom. They shouldn’t have to give that up. They are here because since the
“Freedom.” It is a word with many different connotations, but symbolizes one central idea: Liberty. Freedom has always been deeply embedded in the history of our nation. Throughout time, many Americans have fought for freedom. From the Pilgrims, who set sail from England to the shores of Cape Cod to escape religious persecution, to the Founding Fathers of America who fought for freedom from England’s oppression, our fellow Americans have always fought for what they believed in. They gained certain freedoms that they thought would not only be important to them, but to future generations. However, it is evident that society today does not value those same freedoms.
Since the outbreak of the first revolution, the fights for liberty are growing in frequency and it does not tend to stop until today. Along the civilization of different nations, liberty seems to be a more and more important aspect. ‘Liberty or death’ becomes a controversial question. In fact, a complete liberty does not ever exist.
