The Holocaust was one of the most tragic and harmful things to befall the human race. Yet not a lot of people understand just how terrible it was. But if we don't know about it, how will we know if history will ever repeat itself or not? We need to know because we can't let it happen ever again. There is so much to know as well. From the life of Anne Frank to World War II as a whole, there are so many things involved its unbelievable. But what exactly is the full depth of the Holocaust, and what was all a part of it.

World War II was one of the biggest parts of the Holocaust. Not only did it change the course of the Holocaust but a part of the war was also to fix it. Initially, Hitler had complete control over what he was pulling off because nobody knew about it. He even covered it up during the Olympics to keep safe. But during the course of the war he had to change up his tactics. He knew he was going down so he decided to take down as many people with him as he could. He moved the captured "undesirables" to 'safer' places so he could continue his work. Death marches were a large part of this transition because he could kill of many people by moving them from one place to another and not have to waste any supplies on them. After the liberation at the end of the war most did not survive because the body does not easily recover from the torture that the Holocaust presented. But World War II was not the only aspect of the Holocaust.

As far as information goes, the life and diary of Anne Frank was and is a really useful component. He entire adventure in the Secret Annexe demonstrates so much about the life some were forced to live. Anne and the other dwellers of the Secret Annexe were not the only ones in hiding as well. So why do we study the Holocaust? Is it to know of Adolf Hitler's madness or know about a large part of World War II? I believe it is to know how to recognize and stop something like the Holocaust from ever happening again. It is like Edmund Burke said, "All tyrany needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." The Holocaust gained it's foodhold because we didn't know what was happening so we remained silent. A lot of the suffering and pain could've been prevented if we had simply realized what was going on. Another one of Edmund's quotes is that, "Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it." That is why we must learn and know about the Holocaust so that we do not repeat our mistakes of the past.
