“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV) We should follow and love God with everything we say, feel and do. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul teaches of entire sanctification, and how Christ followers’ should live throughout life. The holiness code gives laws for believers to follow. This teaching should be as important for people today as it was for those in the times of the Bible. We should encourage others, and share this teaching through the churches. Churches these days seem to sugar coat the teachings of Paul, and in most instances, it seems that holiness and entire sanctification are not as crucial in Christ followers lives.

Discovering the Bible describes holiness code as follows: “The holiness code addresses areas such as proper worship, eating, sexual activities, social conduct, conduct of priesthood, the religious calendar, blasphemy, fair and equitable justice, restoration of the land and property ownership, and reward and punishment from God.” (Varughese, 2006) The holiness code can be found in Leviticus 17-26. Several of the thoughts throughout the holiness code appear to be linked to those in the 10 Commandments; this shows that God found these things important to follow to be close with Him. I believe that Paul was referring to following the holiness code when he was teaching of what is now called entire sanctification. An example would be, all these people going along killing others. People continue to show that they do not believe that God’s rule is law anymore. People are committing murder, executing adultery, theft, partaking in homosexuality, and many other laws God has expressed through His word. Name the law or code, and someone will be breaking it and rebelling somewhere. The world now appears to want to slap God in the face, and say “Who cares what you say!” Paul’s teaching of entire sanctification, and the Bible’s rules known as the holiness code are still valid today, and should be followed. The problem is there continues to be a rapid decline in the amount of people that are found to choose to follow the code, and attempt to do the good works of the
