Imagine that you are on the field of battle or fighting a ferocious dragon! You can feel the intensity of the action happening around you. For books, you would only need to imagine this all on your own, but you could go as far as you wanted to, for you control your imagination. If you saw this in a movie or on a screen, all the imagining would be done for you. Someone has already done all the work right before your eyes. Books and movies convey different ideas, facts, and much more. The main difference between books and movies is the way that they convey the ideas that the creator might be trying to share with the world. Books help spread information with the power of words, and a books limits are your very own imagination. On the other hand, movies like to share their information with pictures on a screen, people enjoy watching these things in real life, most people who …show more content…
But have you ever wondered which one is better, book or movie? To explain this, I am going to be talking about The Hobbit. There is one book called ‘The Hobbit’, but there are 3 movies in total just to represent that one book. I believe that the book is better than the movies because the book has more details. On top of this, the book was more organized and it flowed better. Lastly, it is limited to only your imagination, not just confined to a tv screen. First of all, the book is better organized and flows much better. ‘The Hobbit’ book came first, which means it had the original order of the way things are supposed to play out. In the book, Bilbo Baggins is a character that gets pulled into a journey that he didn’t even want to go on. Gandalf is a wizard that plays as Bilbo”s mentor throughout the story. On the adventure, Bilbo becomes friends with 13 different dwarfs that he becomes very loyal to and had a few bumps in the road on his adventure with them.
book was blander. The book did not catch my attention as much. The movie really caught my
Second there is more detail in the book than the movie. Well, I think that more detail is better because the more you know the better you understand the movie or
J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit, has sold over 100 million copies and is translated into about 50 different languages, in about 17 years. Another popular book that was written by C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, has also sold over 100 million copies and has been translated into around 47 languages, since it was published in the 1950’s. These two amazing authors have written many other popular books, but the connection between The Hobbit and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is rare. The two novels were loved by so many people that they were made into movies and are part of a sequel. The discoveries that can be made about the two authors, novels, and the connections between the books are extraordinary.
Babbitt vs. The Hobbit Sinclair Lewis’ character of George Babbitt is similar to J.R.R Tolkien’s character of Bilbo Baggins, but they are also very different. These two characters are alike in two different ways: in personality and the heroic journey. However, on every other subject these two characters are extraordinarily different. The most basic of these differences being that George Babbitt is an anti-hero and Bilbo Baggins is a hero. In the beginning both characters seem very much alike in the way that they are portrayed.
The Hobbit written by J.R.R. Tolkien follows a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins as he takes an adventure of a lifetime. Bilbo is content to live a quiet, simple life far from adventure, until the wizard known as Gandalf appears on his doorstep one morning. Very much to Bilbo’s dismay, he is soon swept off on an adventure the likes of which he has only heard stories about. Gandalf, Bilbo, and thirteen dwarves encounter trolls, goblins, giant spiders, and a dragon named Smaug before their journey is finally completed. Due to the ever present danger and the thrill of adventure, Bilbo returns home a less fearful hobbit than the one who left helping to build Tolkien’s theme that even the most rooted of people can change.
According to John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, “The Lord of the Rings is of course a fundamentally religious and Catholic work;”, expressing the inclusion of a religious theme in the novels. The first spiritual work of Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring, was published in 1954. It is followed by The Two Towers and The Return of the King, and all of them were produced into movies by director Peter Jackson. Both the books and movies are set in Middle-Earth, an imaginary world created by Tolkien, and they deal with the Ring; a magical object that controls people. The story is mostly concerned with Hobbits who are smaller than Dwarves, not obtrusive, and love peace and quiet. Despite bearing some superficial similarities, the differences between the first
The Hobbit was a very popular book in the twentieth century it would make sense it would have an movie, but the movie was not exactly like the novel in fact it had big changes in the scene of the trolls, but why would Peter Jackson the director do this. Why would he change Tolkien the author book and his events. It was to make the movie more believable and it was very effective. Tolkien novel The Hobbit main story plots was about a Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins goes on an adventure with an wizard and dwarfs to reclaim their lost gold from Smaug a dragon that took their precious gold. Two changes Peter Jackson made to the film compare to the film was how Bilbo Baggins was captured by the trolls and how they escaped by the help by Gandalf the great
In The Hobbit, four races, live a tumultuous world where dragons and magic take place, these four races hobbits, dwarves, elves, and humans. They’re different and yet alike, among many different aspects. The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien, is about Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, who is enlisted into an adventure with a Thorin & Co. a group of Dwarves, and Gandalf a wizard. Through his journey, he would encounter many new things and come out a different person. The many races and their distinct differences stack against each other and make for an interesting set of people and morals with those people.
A movie that came out in 2002 was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. This movie was based off the best-selling novel, which was written in 1997 by J.K. Rowling, called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. If you were to read this book and watch the movie you would find many differences, but the main difference between the two is that the book gives more information to the reader than the movie gives to the viewer. If someone was to watch the movie instead of reading the book, that person would not be able to have an accurate perception of the book because so many things in the book are changed in the movie or parts are left out of the movie completely. This is mainly because the book has more characters and chapters, which are able to keep the reader informed and interested. Still, the movie is shorter so that people who want a quick summary of the storyline can get it,
It is not uncommon for movies to take some creative license when adapting a novel for a cinematic film. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a story about the antics of a hobbit and his dwarven companions. Peter Jackson, a famous director, took this book and turned it into a three-part movie series. As The Hobbit, is a relatively short book, it is not a stretch to assume Jackson made some changes to the films. After viewing The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, it is clear to see the differences between the book and the movie.
It is likely for one to assume that a classic piece of literature set in a fantasy oriented stage will have no merits to the youths of today. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, however, with its crafty of usage symbolism, displays its relevance to issues that often trouble teens. As the story progresses from a children’s tale to an epic, the main character Bilbo undergoes a series of development, his experiences often overlapping with ordinary people. Reading the Hobbit will provide teens with opportunities of exploring the importance of several common but serious topics. People may encounter many of the themes presented in the book elsewhere repeatedly, but it’s possible that they never appreciated the applications it might have on themselves. When teens read the Hobbit, they perceive it as a simple fiction of adventure. Under proper guiding, they will be able to recognize and utilize the lessons of the Hobbit, and improve their attitudes and ideas about life.
The book I read was titled The Hobbit. J. R. R. Tolkien wrote the book. It was first copyrighted in 1937. It was published by Ballantine Books. The main character in the book is Bilbo Baggins, who is a hobbit. Hobbits are humans a little smaller than dwarves. There are other main characters in the book, too. Gandalf is a powerful wizard who arranges the adventure the book is about. Thirteen dwarves also take part in the adventure. Thorin is the head dwarf who leads the party when Gandalf is away. The book takes place in a world known as Middle-Earth. Middle-Earth is a fantasy world where hobbits, dwarves, trolls, wizards and many other types of people exist.I think that the theme of the book is "You should always try new things, because you never know what will come of them." I think this is the theme because Bilbo never did anything out of the ordinary, and being pushed into an adventure made him very wealthy, and a great deal wiser. My favorite part of the book was when Bilbo found the ring which made him invisible whenever he put it on. I liked that part of the book because at first Bilbo did not know that the ring made him invisible, and it was interesting to read how he escaped the cave once he figured it out. J. R. R. Tolkien wrote three other books, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, that continues the tale that The Hobbit begins.
The Hobbit is a adventurous book written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The setting of this book takes place in the middle world which is full of wizardry and magical creatures. This is a very interesting book in which a hobbit which is a creature that has no magic but is small and has very hairy and large feet, sets out on the adventure of a life time. In this a great lesson learned is that the book is way better than the movie and a little adventure is good every once in a while.
Have you ever read a book and then watched the movie and saw many differences? Well you can also find lots of similarities. In the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the movie “Tom and Huck” there are many similarities and differences having to do with the characters personalities, the setting, the characters relationships with one another and the events that take place.
Also, books usually have more characters and give continued suspense so that the reader will be hooked or addicted to finish the book to find out the story. On the other hand, movie producers need to eliminate so many details about the story in order to squeeze everything into one to two hours. Due to this, those people who love detail information about stories usually prefer books than movies as movies does not have a detailed information about the story. Furthermore, reading books can not only enhance the reader’s vocabulary and creativity, but also increase their reading and writing skills, while watching movies only provides entertainment (Lee, wordpress.com).
