Introduction An organization must work as a team to an extent in order to accomplish the missions and goals of the agency. In addition, an agency’s leadership skills impact the productivity of the team. The organizational structure of a company is vital towards its success. Relationships within the organization impact the outcome of agency goals (Salehzadeh, 2017). Each agency has its own independent goals they work towards relative to their field of interest. The personality created by an organization begins with the history, moral, and working dynamics within the hospital. For example, if staff share common passions then it’s likely that hospital staff will collaborate as a team to achieve the goals relative to helping children and families. Hospital performance is systematic which may be illustrated through the achievement of set goals medically or goals set by managerial staff overseeing production from the top of command (Markazi-Moghaddam, Arab, Ravaghi, Rashidian, Khatibi, & Jame, S. Z. B, 2016). The organizational break down of Rady’s Children Hospital is as follows: president and CEO, chief medical officer, chief quality officer, senior vice presidents, doctors, nurses, administrative staff and volunteers. The hospital has a chain of command which creates the dynamics of having a hierarchy within the organization. As a result of the hierarchal system the bureaucratic aspects are enforced. For example, laws and protocols must be followed by all hospital staff and personnel which, lessens the availability of flexibility among staff to make decisions out of their …show more content…
Firstly, parents have to pay for parking when going to the hospital which becomes a financial burden for parents that are struggling. The cost of parking per day can reach up to thirty dollars a day with validation which becomes costly quickly. Especially when parents have a child that is admitted into the hospital for an inpatient surgery or treatment. Secondly, the hospital only has a couple of locations which are spread out over many miles between one another. The fact that there are not many locations it creates a gap in service as parents have to deal with extended wait times and overcrowding. As a result, this can create a disservice to families’ relative to the quality of care they receive. Some families may not want to go to any other hospital as their children may feel comfortable at Rady’s hospital since they may have a rapport with the doctors and healthcare professionals. Thirdly, the costs for services are challenging for families that do not have medical insurance. The hospital offers financial help to families though it is a selective process. Due to the fact the financial process is selective it creates a gap in service delivery as families may struggle to pay for services
Supposedly, the national average occupancy rate of hospitals is lower than it should be because of rising costs of hospital care. Factors causing variations in occupancy rates are hospital size, product diversification, and urgent versus non-urgent
Due to WellStar being a multi facility health system, its organizational design is constantly being reviewed for simpler and more efficient processes. WellStar’s two smallest hospitals, WellStar Paulding and WellStar Douglas, previously under went reconstruction with regards to their hierarchical structure in Patient Access Services (PAS). WellStar Paulding, the smallest facility of the five hospitals, renovated their managerial chain of command in PAS. WellStar Paulding’s patient volume is less than half in comparison to the 4 additional hospitals. As a result, their staff is smaller and only requires minimal supervision. In the past WellStar Administrators requested supervisors for every department, a manager of the entire department, and a director that managed PAS’ management directly and PAS staff indirectly. The Crowded Clinic: Critical Analysis The Crowded Clinic Case Study (Colorado State University - Global, n.d.) discusses the issues of practice management as they apply to access to care. Access to care may be as inconvenient as lengthy patient wait times to issues far more serious that may have a profound effect on the health and well-being of a single patient or an entire cohort. In order to properly address the issue and look for a remedy, it is necessary to understand the underlying conditions that create the problem before creating the means to manage the change required to correct the problem. The Crowded Clinic has multiple issues, including social and operational, which are creating the associated inaccessibility to services.

Module two deals with external influences in healthcare administration and the conflicts that may cause lack of growth in the organization. External influences can range from society, stakeholders, staff, and patients. Health administrators should be in agreement with staff and physicians to maintain proper ethics and safety for everyone. Society has a big influence of healthcare organizations with spending their money towards health insurance, medication, treatment services and exams. As long the healthcare organization has a well reputation built on trust, then consumers will spend on that healthcare organization. The stakeholders that take part in external influences on ethics are the vendors, technology specialists, maintenance, insurance
Laws and Legislations are in place to promote equality, they apply to everyone and by law every individual must abide by these rules. The purpose of laws and legislations is that every individual is protected by them as others may discriminate against them and by putting these laws in place then it reduces the amount of discriminations and promotes equality. Just like any other setting, laws and legislations apply to hospitals as well. They are vital in a hospital setting as it can affect many factors in the hospital from the way nurses work to how data within computer systems are protected. In this report, I will be explaining how laws and legislations affect hospital setting and how they can bring positive reinforcement into a hospital setting.
The exploration of two models will show an interesting relationship when compared and contrasted. Both can increase competency levels in team building. The models are the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance model (Human Performance Strategies) and the Four Stage Team Performance model (Developing Management Skills). When they have been used correctly they’ve been shown to improve efficiency and profitability in organizations. “Developing team skills is important because of the tremendous explosion in the use of teams in work organizations over the last decade (Developing Management Skills).” An examination of these models will show the similarities and differences they have in the context of team building.

...opment is a good way to define the upcoming changes for a company from within. The first goal will pertain to the efforts of expanding the culture from inside Mayo Clinic, due to the high number of diversity seen, culture is a key goal that should integrated into play. The second goal will be used in organizational development in terms of teamwork. By the 1940s, behavioral scientists in the United States already were recognizing the value of teamwork according to Wesner (2010). “Teamwork and teambuilding are considered effective ways to improve organizational performance and development” (Wesner, 2010, p. 42). Finally the third goal is to help promote the medical school that is here located at Mayo Clinic. Since there is a threat of losing the expertise that is currently offered the organizational development and strategically planning should be driven by this fear.

Support of a decentralized organizational philosophy can transform organizations, staff, and patients because it affects the culture, improves staff outlook, promotes personal involvement and encourages staff to reach higher levels of quality care. In my organization, nursing leaders should strive to involve all patient care units and staff in shared governance, educate unit leadership council chairs, and build on the positive aspects by empowering, motivating and developing staff members. These actions will increase creativity, responsibility, intellectual stimulation, and well-being.
