Guinness is one of the largest alcoholic brands across the globe. This huge name in production and distribution of? is owned by the conglomerate Diageo plc. Guinness has a worldwide market, being sold in countries such as Ireland, Nigeria, Great Britain and the United States of America. The Guinness storehouse is one of Ireland’s largest tourist attractions proven by its visitor numbers. Being such an iconic brand around the globe brings great demand for the Guinness storehouse as people want to see how the stout is made and to learn where it was originated also too see the very iconic St.James gate.
The Guinness storehouse is one of Irelands top visitor attractions alongside the likes of the national aquatic centre and Dublin zoo, all three of these attractions being situated in Dublin the capital of Ireland. Whilst inside the Guinness Storehouse there are a variety of activities that you can do as they now have three operating bars serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, also you can see the world’s largest pint glass and dine in the restaurant or even have a coffee in the café. It is not just drinking and eating whilst at the Guinness Storehouse there is also a store for memorabilia and treats. No matter what parts of the tour were enjoyed it is the beautiful Gravity bar which is the highest bar in Dublin standing forty four feet above the ground which takes the breathe away of visitors with its 360 view of Dublin city itself whilst enjoying the complimentary pint of Guinness provided on arrival.

The series is about how four selfish friends who run Paddy’s Pub; a relatively unsuccessful neighborhood Irish pub in Philadelphia, struggle to find their way through the adult world of work and relationships. Walsh’s, Ford’s and Toibin’s works help influence the way Ireland is perceived nowadays. Despite what some people may think, Ireland and it’s people lives do not revolve around Pubs and alcohol. The country relies heavily on their culture and customs. Religion, music and food are three ways my family celebrates our Irish heritage. Those three parts of the Irish culture are only a small portion of what it means to be Irish.
In order to legitimise a regime or cause, traditions may be constructed around historical or mythological events, people or symbols that reinforce the image required to focus people’s conception of the past. People can be encouraged to invent a cohesive view of their shared ‘traditions’ by what could be called cherry picking bits of history.
In Dubliners, many themes are introduced to the readers to help understand the main focus of Dublin at the time. Characters are always placed within society and are always trying to escape the problems geared toward them. To continue, feelings of aloneness bring escape throughout things such as journeys away from the city Characters are always trying to find a way to get away from everyday life and the certain realities that are shared between everyone. People are always escaping through journeys and also through other people but are always trying to find places to be alone. In all three stories, the circumstances of Dublin at the time have individuals expressing the need to escape society and the realities of everyday life.

... It is estimated over these five horrifying years, that around two million Irish died. One million deaths are attributed to starvation while another million is attributed to immigration and sickness. It has taken many years for the Irish to recover the loss of 25% of their population, many of these deaths being children and the elderly. This led to an immense age gap in the general population. The Irish have also been to slow to recover from the emotional and political toll that the famine had on Ireland’s people. To remember and learn from past mistakes, the Irish built an Irish Potato Famine Memorial in Dublin. It has grotesque statues of starving people walking down the Custom House Quay carrying what little belongings they had left. This is a haunting reminder of what hunger and greed can do to a country and how it’s influence can spread across the entire world.

Joyce’s portrayal of Dublin in Dubliners is certainly not one of praise or fanfare. Rather, Joyce’s Dublin is a slumbering and pathetic portrayal of a metropolis in which her citizens cannot exercise the ability to break free from the city’s frigid grasp. Therefore, the Dubliners struggle to carve out a distinct identity that contains meaningful aspects of human life. Somerville states that “Dublin has suffered a sickness of the heart,” an assentation that certainly captures the undertones of paralysis in Dubliners (Somerville 109). If it is indeed true that Dublin has lost her heart, she has also lost important emotional contexts that help sustain one’s livelihood. Without a heart, Dublin becomes a city “locked in place” with inadequate chances for forward progress from a socioeconomic perspective (Somerville 112). Yet, if Dublin’s heart is sick, it is only logical to assume that a “cure” is needed; the “cure” that the Dubliners seek, is money. As a result of Dublin’s paralysis and subsequent lack of basic societal values, Dublin’s citizens utilize money as a means of escaping the city in order to fully exercise their selfhood and free-will, which is compromised
In the fifteen Dubliners stories, city life, religion, friends and family bring hope to individuals discovering what it means to be human. Two stories stood out in James Joyce’s Dubliners. One story attempts to mislead readers as it is hard to follow and the other story is the most famous story in the book. In the stories “Clay” and “The Dead,” James Joyce uses escape themes to deal with the emotions of the characters, Maria and Gabriel living in the Dublin society. Both stories take place during the winter on Halloween and Christmas, which are the holiday seasons and the season of death.
