The Game- Personal Narrative As the game wore on I felt the tension amongst the players. We hadn’t come all this way and fought this hard just to be deemed runners-up. We all knew inside ourselves that this would be our last chance to be titled champions. Times were changing and so were people. Some of my best friends in the team would be moving away soon, going to a far away university where I could no longer play football alongside them. I knew, they knew, we all knew that this was “the game”. This was what it all boiled down to. Ten years of football together as a team had led us to the British National Final of under-18. There would never be another opportunity like this again, especially together. The current situation made my stomach churn. I was battling for every tackle, every pass and every header just to keep us in the game. My team mates were also giving every drop of energy they had. The team gave us all a sense of belonging, as though we were all part of something special and we couldn’t let this game slip from our grasp. As I looked around the crowded mud stained pitch, it was almost like a battlefield. “Filthy”, a good friend of mine was bleeding from his forehead, but without any notice he fought on, going in for every ball, crunching into every tackle to stop his enemy from gaining control. Everyone was feeling the immense pressure that was upon us. “C.J” excruciatingly smashed heads with an opponent, as he challenged for a high ball that could have gone either way. He lay in a bundle in the water-logged centre circle like a wounded soldier as the heavy rain fell upon him. A wave of blue players went to see that he ... ... middle of paper ... ...ust done. Every single player on our team sprinted towards the hero jumping on him, as the crowd rushed on to the pitch in complete and utter amazement at the event that had just occurred. Unconcerned by the other teams misery; we celebrated with an astonishing feeling of accomplishment. The feeling of that emphatic victory was incredible, I find it hard to gather the words in to a sentence to express just how amazing it felt and still feels to be a part of. Like I said, that would be the last time we would all ever play together and sure enough it was. I will never forget my friends that day, it was the end of an era and those memories I will never lose. That was “the game” that marked our friends time together and the feeling of victory that day shall never be lost, just like the friends I knew that remarkable day.
Everything was great, every day was the same except that particular day when your life
These two dates will always bring shame and heartbreak to the country, but when we look back on it, we find a little positivity grown from it. Each time a devastating incident occurs, we jump right back up, come together as a country to fight back. Our devotion to the country has yet to waiver. That is definitely the overlying fact between each of the pivotal events of the 21st century.
The day of 9/11 is definitely an event that I will never forget, even though it occ...
The night was young times were crazy and it was only the beginning of my senior year. It was still warm out and it still felt like summer; we didn’t know that we could have this much fun in one night, but we knew we were going to have fun no matter what. My first concert had to be one of the best nights of my life and one of my most favorite nights of my life during my senior year. It all began when my buddy Alex Kramper decided to give me a phone call and wanted to know if I wanted to go to an Imagine Dragons concert at the Verizon Wireless Amplifier Theater for only twenty bucks, I responded with a hell yeah, the concert was only in a weak. So we figure everything out and and figure that Alex Kramper, Tori Main, Trevor Waller, Kristen Kesler, and me are going to the concert, the next day we meet at Alex’s house to all ride in the concert together in Trevor’s truck, it was a planned booze cruise threw St.Louis. So I woke up early in the morning for the Saturday concert and do my chores early in the morning so I wouldn’t have to do them the next day all hungover. I finally finish all...
To this day, I can remember laying back and watching the coverage of the buildings burning and massive clouds of debris dust overpowering the streets and sky. Especially, I recall the news anchor announcing that New York City was under attack, and how this day would forever change our ways of life, from that day forward. The most memorable part of all, however, had to be watching the video of the second plane hitting the last tower, which occurred minutes after the initial attack. This image, along with the empathy for the people who were in the towers at the time and their families, will definitely last a lifetime.
One way to excite students about learning is by using games. Game play can require students use higher-order thinking skills, where they are analyzing, creating and understanding the concepts at deeper level. Making games from content, or Gamification can be done by creating teams, scores, competitions, and rewards. Real life simulations incorporated into a game environment can create a powerful learning environment.
that was the day when I felt extreme cognitive dissonance. But it was also the
TIRAINE, no, RITINAE, no, INAIRET no…..INERTIA! INERTIA! I quickly place the tiles on the board in a moment of victory. Yes, I did just begin my personal statement with a bunch of mumbo jumbo nonexistent words. But this moment, my very first seven letter word in Scrabble, which means an extra fifty points added to your score, accurately represents the joy I feel when playing board games.

Hundreds of teens sat around in the blistering sun, full of energy and excitement. It was the homecoming game against Fort Zumwalt West, the score was 7:14, with Troy losing. I looked around me at my fellow classmates, and noticed that some people had little beads of sweat running down their foreheads, while others were sweating gallon buckets every minute. Sitting in a crowd of hot, nasty teens, I began to notice the pungent body odor coming from all around me. Unfortunately for me, the stench was so bad, that I felt as if I could taste it.
Nothing could be worst than your dad bringing up "THE CONVERSATION." Starting at age 5 I loved playing soccer, running up and down the field, making moves and kicking balls to the back of the net was always the way to go. Soccer meant the world to me and especially playing with my best friends since the day I started. My days would go something like this, go to school, get home,do homework then get ready and go to a beautiful fun day at soccer! After soccer I would go home sit on the couch and eat.I was a lazy one. That's why I hoped my dad would never ever bring up this conversation.... But he did anyways.
Instead of a ray of sunshine surrounding him, it was like several storm clouds had found their homes above his head and were constantly shitting on his mood. Or maybe that was just Whitey and Yellow. Either way, Wade was begging for help. Practically down on his knees, his eyes wet and hollow.
It was me and my friend in my car. We had drove over to St Louis, Missouri during the summer. We were 9 hours away when we had decided it was time to drive back home to Des Moines.
Everyone loves a thrill. We watch movies that make us rethink what is in the dark with us, jump off of bridges and cliffs with our only savior being a bungee cord that may or may not be 10 years old, and we create gravity defying, speeding cars without motors and brakes. The crazy thing is, we do it all for fun. I, however, didn’t have a fun time when I went on a roller coaster that went upside down for the first time.
