Islam is based on Tawhid which means, “realizing and maintaining Allah’s unity in all of man’s actions which relate directly or indirectly to Him” Philips, A.A.B. (2005). The Fundamentals of Tawheed. Riyadh: International Islamic Publishing House. That means we have to worship and maintain oneness of Allah in everything we do in our daily lives as a muslim. Tawhid is of three categories, which are Tawhid ar-Rububiyah, Tawhid al-Asma was-Sifat and Tawhid al- Ibadah.
Tawhid ar-Rububiyah means maintaining the unity of Lordship. It is based on the belief that Allah alone has created the universe and all things from nothing; He alone is the maintainer and sustainer; and He has complete power and ownership over His creation. Allah is unique in regard

This means maintaining the unity of Allah’s names and attributes. This aspect of Tawhid is further categorized into five main parts. The first part being, Allah’s names and attributes should not be given meanings other than the obvious meaning. For instance, anger is an attribute of Allah. Therefore, one cannot say Allah’s anger means His punishment. The second part is that, He should not be given any new names or attributes. An example of this is, in-spite the fact that Allah says He gets angry, He is not given the name al-Ghadib (the angry one), because neither Allah nor his messenger has used that name. The third part is, Allah should not be given the attributes of His creation. Giving Allah the attributes of creation is Shirk by humanization. In the Bible and Torah, it is stated that Allah created the universe in six days and he rested on the seventh day, so because of this, the Christians and Jews do not work on Saturday or Sunday. This is a great sin, because Allah is perfect and unique. It is human beings that need rest and not Allah. Regarding the attributes of seeing and hearing of Allah, they cannot be compared to His creation in any way. The fourth part of Tawhid al-Asma was- Sifat is that, Allah’s creation should not be given his attributes. For example, the Christians belief that Jesus has no beginning or end. This is completely wrong, because it is only Allah who has no beginning or end. All creation were …show more content…
”Allah alone deserves worship and He alone can grant benefit as a result of His worship.” Naik, Z. (2016, March 31). Tawheed and its types. Retrieved from https://zakirnaikqa.wordpress.com/tag/tawheed-al-ibaadah/. Therefore worship of anything or anyone else instead of Allah or along with Allah is the gravest sin. Allah has clearly stated in the Quran, “I did not create the jinn and mankind except for My worship” (Surah 51:Verse 56). This was the essence of the message of the prophets. Worship is more than just praying, fasting, and the rest of the pillars of Islam. It includes emotions like love, trust and fear, all which the highest degrees are only for
Knowledge of the existence of Allah (swt) is the key element that establishes our faith and reflects on our actions. Allah's Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
Islam the complete ‘surrender to Allah’ is a living religious tradition with the principal belief in one God – Allah. Islam has remained the same in its principle beliefs of Allah, His Angels, His Prophets, His Books, The Last Day and his complete authority over destiny and has also changed over time to ensure that Islam remains a living religious tradition. Over its history Islam has had many significant people including Al Ghazali and Aisha Bint Abu Bakr who have ensured that Islam remains living in the hearts and minds of its adherents. In addition to significant individuals participation in the Five Pillars e.g. the Hajj ensure that Islam will continue to be the living religious tradition that it is.
Islam is a religion that is based on the submission oneself to the will of God, who is called Allah. Muslims are the people believe in that, regardless of their culture, background or ethnicity. It is believed that God’s prophets brought a message for the people to worship one God without intermediaries and that prophet Muhammad was the end of G...
The Much common ground is shared in attempt to provide approaches to finding answers to some of the deepest questions of life. I will discuss these significant similarities focusing on human dignity, identity, difference, and guardianship. “Islam is similar to Christianity in respect to human dignity and identity in that both acknowledge creation and that God is the creator of heaven and earth”. The aspect of both subscribes to the role of prophets who were venerated in both Islam and Christianity. Due to this fact, they both are traced to the times of Abraham (Ipgrave and Marshall 14-77). The goal of each faiths’ ethos is to love God by way of obeying His commandments on guidance from their respective Holy Books. They both do broadly consist of individuals that owe their allegiance to a metaphysical deity. Owing to the fact that the two are considered Abrahamic religions. They do both captures in the strictest sense the aspect of guardianship in respect to both having belief in only one God. A belief is impliedly preaching the existence of heaven and hell. Goes on to affirm the existence of the belief of the second coming of the Savior, which affirms the faiths’ ethos towards the attainment of the religions’ goals. Aimed at promoting and achieving a holistic understanding of religion, as the flexibility to accommodate diverse backgrounds of its adherents that is always prone to abuse. Christianity and Islam’s
“Human beings are made for worship. Everyone worships someone or something” (Calhoun 2005). The above statement is so true. Some people worship money, themselves, other people or pagan Gods. As for me I worship God the Almighty Father of Heaven and Earth. “True worship of God happens when we put God first in our lives” (Calhoun 2005). Worship isn’t just singing at the beginning of a church service on Sunday. Worship is a daily surrender where we put God first in everything such as our marriage, work life, friendships, family, money, and lifestyle. Worship is where we totally surrender and trust God with everything in our lives.
In addition to the many different ways the followers of Islam spread the religion and expanded their empire, the religion itself was appealing to many people outside of Arabia. The Islamic religion contained many beliefs and practices that were extremely appealing to others. One of these beliefs was that Islam is an uncompromising monotheistic religion, meaning there is only one God. In addition, there was an extremely well and highly developed set of legal codes and a strong sense of community among the followers of Islam. The five pillars were also extremely appealing because they provided the basis for religious unity. The humbleness and prayerfulness of the Islamic people was admirable to those of other faiths.
Joining others in worship with Allâh is a great Zûlm (wrong) indeed.” As a Muslim, the first thing that is taught is tawheed, or the oneness of Allah. Allah (s.w.t) is the one and only God worthy of worship. The first pillar of Islam is shahada, where one bears witness that Allah is the only one worthy of worship, and Muhammad (s.a.w) is his slave and final messenger.
In all countries throughout the world the sources of Islamic traditions are found in the Qur’an. Similar to the Bible the Qur’an has different chapters to refer to in the holy book; the chapters in the Qur’an are called Surah’s. In the Muslim religion there are 114 Surah’s in the Qur’an that the followers of Islam hold true to their beliefs. According to Charles Shields, a Muslim and Islam follower, the most important Surah of the Qur’an is Al-Fatihah. “ In the name of Allah the most gracious the most merciful. All the praises and thanks are to Allah, the lord of the mankind, Jinn and all that exist. The most gracious the most merciful. The only owner and the only ruling judge on the day of resurrection. You alone we worship, and you alone we ask for help for everything. Guide us to the straight way. The way of those on whom you have bestowed your grace, not the way of those who earn your angry (such as the Jews), nor of those who went astray (such as Christians)” (Al-Fatihah, ayat 1-7). In all countries that practice Islam it is essential that when a Muslim makes prayer (Salat) they have to perform Surah Al-Fatihah, if they do not perform that Surah than their prayer (Salat) is invalid to Allah. This belief is not an opinio...
He said (translated to English) “I did not create the Jinn and mankind for anything except to worship me” At first it might sound selfish to people, but Allah created us (Muslims) to worship him 5 times a day not only for Him but also for our own good, worshipping him may give us many gifts in life and open many doors of opportunities for us. Our purpose though is not only to worship but also to test us, Allah said “He who created life and death is to test you of who is best in deed…” It says that our life is a test for us, to follow his rules, to follow his religious laws, and ‘commandments’ for in death He will be the one to judge us to whether we have passed His test or not. Allah also has stated in the Qur’an how he wanted to be worshipped, not only through prayer but also living a good life, we can live a perfectly normal life like the other people of other religions but we always must remember when the time is for prayer and when it is time to attend to our religious duties. Not all follow the worshipping of 5 times a day but at least a Muslim must perform Hajj once in his life to compensate for
Tahsiniyyat is an Arabic term that means refinements, embellishment or luxuries. It is a distinct category of maslaha regarding to things or activities that embellish people’s lives. It doesn’t relieve hardships and basic needs but it adds elegance to life. Allah has allowed us to enjoy the sweetness of life and to enjoy our life.
Ideologies creates a sense of community, purpose and order. Similarly, I find that my religion provides me with the conceptual frameworks in which to ground my life. My life revolves around my Islamic commitments, even school and work is set around my Islamic timetable. So to me, Islam is not just about praying, fasting and so on. Yet, it’s also about my moral conduct, the education that I seek and my worldly actions. Growing up in a community that practices an Islamic lifestyle and culture has convinced me that Islam is one of the exceptional religions which stress the development of the positive moral and ethical. I was taught to live peacefully, help each other and also tolerate with other religions. Not only that, Islam also governs all facets of my life such as moral, spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and economic via the Quran and the Hadith. I also learnt the true values of my faith which is Islam is not only for the Muslim world, it is to be practiced wherever I am.
The Islamic religion has a powerful meaning - surrender. Muslims in their religion pray to Prophet Muhammad who is regarded as the greatest of all prophets. Salat is one of the five pillars of Islam. The doctrinal narrative and experiential dimensions. The doctrinal dimension is important because ritual prayer of Salat Is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and is always in the direction of the ka’ba the shrine in mecca. The narrative dimension is also very important. this prayer must always be preceded by following the steps of washing their face hands and feet that can be done with sand when water is not available. Praying five times a day in a prescribed manner called the Salat. This is an extremely important tenet of Islam and has been enjoined with great emphasis both in the Holy Quran and the sayings of Prophet Mohammad. It is the greatest source for purification of the soul. If a man is not reciting Salat must be considered as soulless man. The way the Salat is offered and the words which are recited explain the true nature of religion.
Religion is an important factor in many lives in today’s society. A particular western religion that is taken very seriously by many is known as Islam. Essentially, Islam means “submission”, or in other words a person is to abide by God and peace will follow. In order to comprehend the Islamic religion, it is consequential to view the major themes associated with this religion. By going through the central themes of Islam it could help others comprehend what is involved with this specific religion.
The spirit and realism of the disciplines of Islam dictate that every separate must take the rules, rules and agreement of laws that the shadows, which are connected to both the separate and the society, from the Heavenly Source. In adding, he must
