During the stories “The Fall of the House Of Usher” and “House Taken Over” I can show a comparison between the content due to some of the relationship between the setting, tone, mood, and how the characters act. In both stories there is a gothic style of writing due to the fact that both houses in each story show an ancient and old look. The old look shows me that the houses have not been tampered with since they were built. When the narrator in “The House Of Usher” walks into the house, he realizes it is a very dark and depressed place. The house of Usher shows a man walking into the home and is guided to Rodrick Usher and before the narrator arrives to the Usher's room, he sees a beautiful woman, he stops and thinks but proceeds. Finally, he arrived at the Ushers room. After talking for a while, he asks about the girl and the usher explains to the narrator that it's his twin sister and that she is sick. But the narrator saw her walk and she looked fine. Then all the sudden the girl seems to pass away so Rodrick usher and the narrator bring her body in a vaulted area and bury her inside of a tomb. The usher is devastated and doesn't know what to do, but all the sudden the sister appears. The usher and her sister are with each other again, but then the house crumbles and decays after breaking down. “The House Taken Over” is a similar genre.
