Have you ever read “The Fall of House of Usher" by Edgar Allen Poe or “House Taken Over" by Julio Cortazar? If you have, you would have most likely seen a short film called “The Fall of The House of Usher”. This short film is based on a short gothic literature story from 1839. The short film was made almost 100 years later after the book was published. The book is known as the most famous short story in American history. Another story that is somewhat similar to “The Fall of House of Usher” is “House Taken Over”. Sadly, there is no film for this short story. Either the entity is human or an animal knocking stuff over, but there is still no exact description of what it could be leading to suspense being created. Both stories have different ways of encountering the entity. In “The Fall of The House of Usher”, the narrator encounters the entity in a chamber. The entity does not want the narrator but Rodrick ushers, and kills Rodrick. The encounter caused him to flee the house. In “House Taken Over", the brother and sister never had a direct encounter with the entity, only running away from it. As you can see, there are many different things in two different genre’s stories that can have similarities to these texts. In these texts they have similarities in atmosphere, character mentality, and ending but never exact. Every story is never exact and always has its differences, like the way the entity/antagonist is described and encountered is different. Every story is never exact but can have many differences.
