As she was packing her bags, Belle thought about the changes that had occurred over the last few years. Things were never the same once the Enchantress lifted the curse and the Beast became his former self once again. Not only did his dashing looks return, but so did his attitude. Adam slowly transformed back into the arrogant, self-centered, and cruel boy that he once was. He started to point out Belle’s peculiarities instead of appreciating them. He wanted everything to be perfect, and Belle was not willing to fit herself into that mold. Walking out she realized what the real problem was – she was never in love with Prince Adam, she was in love with the Beast. She fell for the insecure and quirky man who just wanted to love and be loved.
The Enuma Elish myth begins with gender equality, with both sexes, contributing equally to the creation of the gods. However, throughout the myth there is a continuous battle between the feminine and the masculine roles. Ultimately, the masculine role wins the battle with the feminine role, Tiamat, paying for it with her life. Tiamat’s transformation is the basis of this struggle between the traditional feminine and masculine roles. Tiamat’s main transition is from motherly into monstrous. When Tiamat fails to meet her role as a wife and a mother she is transformed into an evil figure meant to be hated. In the conclusion of the myth, Tiamat’s body is used in creation by Murduk. This shows how femininity and masculinity both have a place in creation myths.
Standing out and being different can be very difficult because of the people and the world around us. Belle--from Beauty and the Beast--does not follow the ordinary lifestyle of the villagers. She wants more than just the same old boring routine in the village that her whole life has been about. The movie Beauty and the Beast is transcendental because it encourages that at heart the individual is a good person, self reliance, and trusting your intuition.
Then there is the relationship between Charles and Adam. Charles physically and mentally abuses Adam to the extent that he tries to kill him when Charles thinks that their father, Cyrus, loves Adam more. Throughout all this Adam still loves Charles, even after he finds out that Charles and Cathy had slept together and his sons may have even been fathered by Charles. Later in the novel, Adam forgives Charles and writes him a letter to try and put their differences aside, only to find out that Charles has died.
The Awakening by Kate Chopin, is a story of a woman who breaks free from the restraints put on her by society. During the first part of the story, Edna was a normal wife and mother; she was restricted to her stereotype and expected to stay at home, be loyal to her husband, and care for her children. As the story progresses and Edna redefines herself, we eventually are reading about a new character entirely. She ignores the internalized concept of being a mother and wife and becomes a new woman. She cheats on her husband, disregards her children, and defies her societal expectations. At the end of the story, Edna Pontellier commits suicide to free herself from her confusing and scandalous life.
While contrasting with her sisters, Belle is the light, and her sisters are the darkness. Apparently, Belle's patience and unsophisticated personalities make her become the light, and on the other hand, her sisters' jealousy and vanity are the darkness. Nevertheless, while contrasting with the beast, regardless of the appearance, the beast is the light, his kindness and patience, he had not give up even though Belle rejected him every day.
Villeneuve uses love when she writes about the time when Beauty first notices that she does love the Beast and she does want to marry him. For the most part of the fairy tale, the Beast makes sure to ask Beauty if she would marry him in a daily basis, right after they had dinner. The sudden change from always saying no to finally agreeing happens after she spent some type apart from the Beast when she goes to visit her father. During this time apart, Beauty finally takes note of everything the Beast would do for her, from always asking how she is doing, to always making sure she has everything she needs (Villeneuve 100). Beauty then notices how much she loves him, she realizes how scared she really was to lose the Beast, then when realizing this, she vows to the Beast to marry him. Beauty’s own decision to marry the Beast is shown that Villeneuve wanted to show that Beauty did not marry him because she felt she had to for the sake of her life, but instead because she knew that she had feelings for the Beast. If Beauty had accepted the proposal because of fear, she would have accepted it the first night she had arrived there in the castle and the Beast had asked. Instead, just like Claire Fallon, a write for Huffington Post, said, Beauty practically begged the Beast to take her as his bride (Fallon). If Beauty did not love the Beast she would have not tried so hard to stay with him after he was virtually dead and had just about given up on her ever loving him back. The Beast obviously still wanting to marry her, accepted Beauty’s cries and agreed to still marry her. Love was always the factor in why the Beast and Beauty end up together in the end of this fairy tale, it was never because she thought if she did not accept his proposal then she would
Both in the Tale of Tulisa and Beauty and the Beast, the tales begin in somewhat of the same fashion. In the very beginning of The Tale of Tulisa, “Tulisa who was beautiful…went into the forest…” Tulisa goes wandering through the woods where she comes to meet her future husband. Belle in Beauty and the Beast, also known to be beautiful, finds her future husband while her and her father are wandering through the forest. Additionally, in both Beauty and the Beast and The Tale of Tulisa, the future husbands are turned into hideous creatures. In Beauty and the Beast, the prince disrespects an enchantress and is turned into the Beast he is known to be in the movie. In The Tale of Tulisa, it is not totally clear how the prince is turned into the “king of the sna...

He is willing to sacrifice himself so his daughters can live in peace. Beauty offers herself up to the Beast. Poor, kind-hearted Beauty could not bear for her father to be at the Beast’s mercy, so she goes in his place. Beauty is a strong, compassionate girl who will risk her life for the ones she loves. When Beauty is with the Beast she is content with her life. She thinks the Beast is ugly and not that smart, and is still fearful of him, but she grows comfortable in his presence. As she spends more time with the Beast she also becomes more comfortable with herself and what she wants. Beauty isn’t afraid to ask Beast for something she wants, like seeing her father. While Beauty has been with the Beast her father has been dying of grief, with no one to take care of him. Beauty makes a promise to return to the Beast after a week, but her jealous sisters manipulate her into staying, and, of course, gentle Beauty just can’t leave her family behind. When Beauty finally returns to Beast she confesses to loving him, flaws and all, and Beast turns into a handsome, smart, man for Beauty to live with and
In beauty and the beast we have for the first time a female character that is different and “ Belle likes herself and trust her own judgment” (Henks, Umble and Smith 1996, p. 237), and refuse what was planned for her. Belle was the first character not to fall in love from the first sight and occupies almost 80 percent of the movie. She has a better control on her life and choose her own destiny and she was powerful enough to save her father’s and the beast’s lives. And this relation represents a power-with the male character. The problem was that at the end, Belle ended up being one typical princess and being again the perfect girl that live with her prince happily ever
Courtship is defined as “the wooing of one person by another, behavior in animals that occurs before and during mating, often includes elaborate displays.” This definition encompasses this whole story, the courtship of the beast to attract Beauty to him and his behavior before he met her and when he is with her and also when he is not with her. The Courtship of Mr. Lyon is based on a fairy tale written by Angela Carter. This story is thought to be inspired by author Charles Perrault’s writing Beauty and the Beast. This fairy tale has a similar plot to the Beauty and the Beast, the usual “good feeling” plots, where a girl is on a mission to find her true love and encounters many men not fit for her along the way and also other trials and tribulations
When I finished As Old As Time by Liz Braswell, I still wondered if the Beast ever transformed back into the prince. I was left wandering this because the book does not specify exactly what happened, only that Belle and the Beast had to travel to find more enchantresses to lift the curse completely. Belle’s mother says in the last chapter, “‘I only have enough magic left to undo part of the curse. If I release you from it, there will be nothing left to help them with’”(Braswell 471). But she also says later on that if they can find more charmantes they can lift his part of the curse. The Beast chooses to lift the curse on the castle, and then the story ends when he and Belle decide that they will travel to find the enchantresses. The book
Emma's personality is largely shaped by the nature of her upbringing. Emma had no motherly figure guiding her as she grew up, due to the fact that her mother passed away at a young age, and her governess, Miss Taylor, became her best friend instead of an authority over her. At the start of the novel Miss Taylor gets married to Mr. Weston, leaving Emma with her despondent and hypochondriac father, Mr. Woodhouse. Although Mr. Woodhouse often confines Emma to the house because of his paranoia of her being harmed, he gives her little guidance. Emma becomes accustomed to being the "princess" of her house, and she applies this role to all of her social interactions, as she develops the ability to manipulate people and control them to advance her own goals. Emma views herself with the highest regard, and feels competition and annoyance with those who threaten her position. Emma has much resentment toward Mrs. Elton, as Mrs. Elton becomes a parody for Emma's mistakes and interactions. Mrs. Elton's attachment to Jane Fairfax is much like Emma's attachment to Harriet Smith; both Mrs. Elton and Emma attach themselves to young women and try to raise their...
I choose to describe the putative relationship between Adam and Caroline in the movie “Untamed Heart”. It starts off with Caroline in a just ending relationship where she is hung up on the guy that left her. Her friends call her on it and help her refrain from trying to repair it. This guy Adam is a hard working, quiet, shy, very shy especially around Caroline, because he has a serious infatuation about her. Every thing she does he studies. In the beginning of the movie it starts out that he has a deep infatuation with her. He even follows her home without her even knowing, until one day she was almost getting raped, and he saved her because of his infatuation for her. She bandaged him up in her woman caring way and he couldn’t even speak. He just stares at her with a blank look. He has analyzed all of her properties and likes his infatuation of her.
Pope goes on to pose the questions, “Say what strange motive, Goddess! Could compel/a well-bred Lord to assault a gentle Belle? / O say what stanger cause, yet unexplored, /could make a gentle Belle reject a Lord?'; (Pope, ll. 7-10). This is an allusion to Adam’s rejection of Eve in Paradise Lost when he lame...
